Robins has to go… (21 Viewers)

We spent £2m total on Hamer and Gyokeres and turned them into £45m worth of players.

We’ve spent that £45m on a bunch of players who look to have a combined value of about £8m.

Whoever is responsible for that needs to go.
Although that’s just not correct is it. Do you seriously believe if we sold, let’s say, Wright, Simms, Van Ewijk and Rudoni we’d get £8m.

it’s just more hysteria. There are big problems, clearly, but there isn’t a battle for promotion or relegation yet. Stupid talk.
It's not though is it?
To get promoted you have to be on it all the while.
Likewise let games just pass you by and you will have a serious problem later.
Games aren't worth more than 3 points at the end of the season.

but there will be if our form and results continue, I think that’s the point

and you’re right, there’s definitely no battle for promotion yet - we are currently playing to stay out of the relegation zone, one loss and we could drop in there

We were poor against Swansea, but not completely outplayed. I thought we outplayed Norwich for parts of the game.
I think this is fair.

We haven't been "outplayed" but we have been incredibly weak in pretty much all of our games. Teams can get at out back four at will which is alarming.

A couple of wins, a couple of losses- changes everything. When you get to the point where you’re isolated in a group at the bottom, and a couple of wins doesn’t change much and you have to win a few on the trot just to stay in touch etc etc, then it’s a battle. Not now.

This is a shit start, but it is not a relegation battle.

semantics really, but it’s not worth arguing the toss!

we need a decent five or six game run to get the season back on track….doable??? 🤔

I really strongly agree with this. Any talk of relegation being a genuine concern for this club this season is farcical.
We’re playing badly, really fucking badly in some cases, but to believe that there isnt 3 worse teams in this league is silly.
Obviously, 21st position is not what we’re aiming for or would be happy with though, i just think relegation talk is absolutely banal noise

We’re having a poor start, but a change of manager doesn’t necessarily solve or change that. People on here cant attribute the poor start to the changes behind the scenes and changes to the coaching structure, and in the same breath say a change of manager is needed.

The players and coaching staff need time, time to get into a pattern, iron out the clear kinks in their appr, I believe we’ll come good and we should be patient and back them in the meantime. We should stop being so entitled and falling into the same traps as every other club.

I believe the recruitment in the summer has really put us on the back foot. I dont think its a case of prioritising the wrong positions, i think we just didnt get the midfield and central defenders we wanted, but were able to complete the signings of the forwards and goalkeeper we’d identified. The reluctance to go into the loan market (i heard the only club in the league?) is also clearly a mistake as injuries and frailties have come to light further.
I think and hope lessons will have been learned from this summer. It might cost us the play off run we’d hoped for this year, but its not the answer to throw toys out the pram, call all our players shit, sack the manager and throw all manner of hope and desperation behind a nameless faceless “tactical manager”.

I’m disappointed with what this season is looking like it could be, a bit of mid table mediocrity or always being on the outside looking in at the top 10, I’d bought into the vision of this season that both “the club” and the players sold to us as being a real promotion challenge, flirting with the top 2 even. Maybe we bought the hype and we’re having a slight regression this year, maybe this thread will looking really fucking stupid in April, not sure which yet, but thats because its only been 9 fucking games!

Robins is still the right man for this club at this time, we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves or where we are, we’re still young on this journey, in reality we’re a season and a half into trying to be a big boy in this league, thats no time at all when the league is the most competitive in the country.

I don’t agree with everything you’ve said here, but you do make some very good points… a good post to be fair in the main

Yeah, thats a completely fair point.

but what have you seen in these first nine games that suggest we won’t be in one of those battles?

On track for relegation right now…

Similar graph but comparing to our previous poor starts - next 5 games is where we've generally picked up some form. If we maintained our current PPG until the 15 games mark it would be our worst start since we returned to the championship.

we’ve still spent it though haven’t we dickhead

net spend makes no difference, the point is the squad is worth what we’ve spent on it, and therefore should be performing to a higher level.

you’re trying to be clever but you can’t see the point….it’s like you’re saying well we bought Wright for £10M but sold Vik for £20M so that means Wright’s value is £-10M.

the point is we have added multi millions of pounds worth of players to the squad and they should be competing at the other end of the table.
Technically the squad isn’t worth what we have spent in it, it’s worth what someone else would pay to acquire the players. Quite a few we wouldn’t see anywhere near what we have paid,

Lose to PNE and especially QPR and we will be well and truly ITS.

I don’t get all this talk of entitlement, that’s not what it is. You are spot on though when you talk about buying in to the vision and the hype, and that’s why we have sold so many STs this season.

There really weren’t 28,600 actual bums on seats yesterday, the concourse was relatively quieter and a hell of a lot of empty seats. Bad weather, delays getting home because of road closures and continued poor performance will impact attendances.

Something has to change.

We already are in the shit. Not one person has disputed that. But we are not in a relegation battle.

Nobody is ok with how we’ve started- that’s just more lies and an example of what the the issue is on here- people are desperately trying to justify the hysteria by making things up.

We’ve started terribly. Something is really off, not like previous seasons. No denying that.

but making out we’re already in a relegation battle, saying the players don’t care, that supporters are ok with how we’ve started- that’s hysterical hyperbolic bollocks.

Unless something changes (I.e. our PPG rate massively improves) we will be relegated. That is a mathematical certainty.

Its down to individual opinion to decide if that means we're in a relegation battle

Even robins looks like he’s had enough, players just aren’t up to the level he wants, cant really moan when you’ve signed them, surely even Doug’s running out of patience,

It’s SBT hysterical groupthink to be talking about relegation battles in October. It’s a shit start, that’s fact. The rest is silliness.

It is a shit start, but I'm sure you'll agree that this has to change or it will end in disaster?
