Robins has to go… (6 Viewers)

There is no desperation at all , and it's certainly not extreme to suggest that Mark robins is not solely to blame for the players at the club and the holes in our squad

There is never a less true statement said than mark robins wasted 45 million pound

He is 1 part of a larger scale operation , the rest of the operation will remain for the new man
100% on the statement. Robins and his team earned every bit of the fees.

Think it’s more just acknowledging that Robins has a hand in the transfers where as the new head coach won’t outside of setting targets I’d imagine.

Ultimately I think the club outside of a few fees have done good business and we will definitely see return on a couple of investments (Milan and Wright)

Before Dean Austin and the current network we had 1 or 2 scouts, Dave boddy, mark robins and viveash
It's was Chris badlan before, Tommy widdrington before that.

It would have been the same thing, they go out and identify players and have a list. The manager has the final say with a yes or no.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make?

He will have over seen it and said yes or no to the players. He would have been involved with discussing what they are worth as well.

I didn't know their names , but it was 1 or 2 people wasn't it ? As I said

Actually the point I'm making is pre the new structure robins had more of a say in who he wanted to sign .. boddy used to actively pursue a player if robins really wanted him

You think mark robins was involved in negotiating player prices ? Lol come off it
Yeah no, the transfer dealing is dean for initial contact and Doug for fees. Think the posh podcast is good for this.

Robins would say fees don’t matter anyway for players since that doesn’t always reflect ability if I’m not wrong

You could say king pursued players after robins said yes to them after the scouts identified them?

Think this was still the case. Think it was Saddle who said Mark was really high up on Liam Kitching which is why we pursed him and overpaid for him in January

I'm not saying doug king is picking and signing players though ?

Austin joined in December 22
No, you weren’t. However, the post I responded to said that DK drove the recruitment.

Most managers aren’t watching and picking players as they would have been in 1990-2010s. Everything is data driven and clubs signing players for the ‘head coaches’ (hired on their footballing philosophies) to ensure continuity (in theory).

Was Austin a DK hire? I’m not 100% certain he was.

He came in a month before doug

You are so hard to chat to , so much whataboutery all the time.

Do you think with the more expansive network we have now that Mark robins has as much say as he had under Dave boddy yes or no ..

Personally I think no ... that's it

Im pretty sure mark constantly talked about things not being part of his remit anymore

“He’s been on the radar for a while,” said Robins, who hasn't ruled out another 'surprise' in the window. “The recruitment department bring them to me at the end of the process and then I get involved at that stage. They have looked at quite a lot of games of him and been over to Norway to conclude the deal, and they came over and completed the medical on Thursday. That was quite a swift thing and he’s here and ready to start work.

Let's hope it's not robins being told what to say.

Well nobody at the club made that promise in the first place, and while I had us down for a play-off finish this season, most of us on here didn't have us down for the autos. Certainly nobody expected us to underperform as much as we have done, including pundits, the bookies, fans of other teams etc.

Then again nobody will have predicted Luton to be so far down the table either and I imagine Rob Edwards will be gone soon because of it. So it isn't just us in fairness.
Sorry, I didn't mean 'promise' in that sense, I meant as in how 'promising' things looked before the season started. Whatever way you look at it, we've failed to perform as well as we hoped.

A scouting network doesn't mean a manager has more or less say.

We had a scouting team with Chris badlan as well.

It's not whataboutery, is it?

Ok nick what I've done is got the words from the horses mouth to stop the debate

He clearly states he's involved , but not as much as before

So that's it , nothing more to say

Yeah, he still had the final say after targets are identified by the scouts 🤣

It's miles away from the "king is handling all the transfers" stuff being pushed.

Yeah, he still had the final say after targets are identified by the scouts 🤣

So you've read that he now has less involvement than before , where he said he used to do everything pretty much ??

Now he's saying yes or no to the scouts who are paid to do the job of identifying the players , which is what I've said all along ... cheers 👌

Not sure what's funny you've argued with me and you're wrong , he doesn't identify players , he doesn't negotiate fees and he used to be far more involved

And I'm saying we have had scouts for years identifying players.

It was Chris badlan and others before and then Tommy widdrington before that who were identifying players.

But as robins said , he used to be more involved .. you've read it in black and white mate

And the Claire Roberts interview 5 months later totally contradicts that. Although that will have only been the case for 1 window.

So it's not robins fault because he's got a bigger scouting network finding him players to say yes or no to?

Christ it was only a few years ago Andy thorn was identifying players for us 🤣

Andy thorn was always a decent scout , his record stands up

I think the forum has zero effect on the club’s decisions.
OK I get you, so I overestimated by 100%. From a practical perspective, little point in anyone ever saying anything on here about club policies then. They never take fans' opinions into account.

At the end of the day it doesn't matter whether we agree, and maybe you're right. I've just hated the feckin awful overblown negativity on here this season, undermining confidence and bothering Robins enough to complain about keyboard warriors. And taken far enough by some as to post bold demands for a good man to be sacked.

It still says robins has the final say

Which nobody is or has ever disputed , you either have no idea what you're arguing about or you just want to argue with me for the crack .. so which is it

Again for the people at the back , why would mark say no to his staff that are employed to get this sort of stuff right ?
And again , our recruitment hasn't even been bad

"Hi Mark we've got this player that we think will improve the team , he's got all the attributes and his data is good , we think he will make us better and have good sell on potential in the future "

Mark robins " nah "

Ok so this is how it works

The manager says he wants players
The scouts find them, do all the research, compile a list and take them to the manager
They have the final say of yes or no
It then goes to somebody above to do the negotiations

It was how it worked before and how it works now, ok apart from having the psychologist helping with that and having an input to robins.

There's also been a few players recently robins has chased (so to speak)..

Having a scouting network isn't a new thing.

Fact : mark robins isn't solely responsible for the players we sign , he's simply saying yes or no to the people paid to get the right players in .

Why would he say no ? None of these players will look bad in a compiled video
