Robins on CWR (1 Viewer)

You would think spending 500k, 200k and Hiwula you wouldn't be far off..

Can't really blame money on that one.

Well if McNulty is going for 1.2/2 million? Wouldn’t think 500k gets the finished article.

Money isn’t a gaurentee of anything, we have clearly brought players with good potential. Who will hopefully sell for a lot more.

Imo all strikers are good enough to score win league 1 from what I've seen

Yes we have had some high profile misses but I think bigger issue is we do not make enough clear cut chances per game for our strikers

Great song sang at the station to the Charlton fans.
How shit must you be Bakiyoko scored 2.

Then at London Bridge skyblue army shut up the Vile fans loved it.

The idea that paying a fee means a player's the finished article. Robins said about all 3 when he signed them that they were to be improved
It was Robins who said we couldn't afford somebody who was.

I pointed out a couple of players who cost less who have scored more.

You can get players for a free also, I'm not disputing that.

I just said we have potentially spent three quarters of a million on strikers, that could have got you somebody with a record if that was the aim.

The Bakayoko fee is 200k top end. I've heard 60k and 70k which is nothing really if Robins actually thinks he can coach him in to something. Hiwula at 150k is a solid buy for someone young and with a record in this league. Chaplin is expensive at 500k but he looks to have the attributes, just needs to hit the back of the net. JCH is the failed signing really, didn't show much last season and was behind Biamou who was useless before he arrived. We were obviously committed to signing him but I think league 2 is his level, he is either a 9 out of 10 or a 4 out of ten with nothing in between, problem is he puts in the 4 9 times out of 10.

I think JCH is very frustrating he has potential but seems to lack desire !! Half the time he just cruises round the pitch half arsed closing down falls over a lot well if he dont want to be improved and Baka does we should stick with Baka it might make Harris think twice on how charmed a life he has to lose !!!!

If MR spent all 700K ish on one striker who failed we would be fucked (no performance and no sell on fee or at least a lot less). He had already stated that we are back to the old plan of buying talent to improve and then sell on (SISU's original plan under RR). He has since stated that again several times.
So he has brought in a couple of what he thinks are rough diamonds to be improved on and CC who he thinks can be improved on but should also be ready for this level now (thus the chase and higher fee) but should be able to be sold on at a profit IF he scores the goals MR thinks he can.
It's a long season, let's just hope he has got it right and as the season goes on the forwards click, PLUS let's hope the midfield start performing better from the off. Today, as soon as we equalized the midfield seemed to have a new lease of life and started pushing forward and supporting the strikers, they need to do this from the off every game.

Fernandopartridge, the game seemed a lot clearer today without drinking 8 pints and tasted better without the tooth paste with the couple i had. Was great to meet up, hope you had a great anniversary in Mogan.

Cheers mate, good to meet you. I'll no doubt be over again at some point, all the best. It's 6c here by the way!

Ched Evans was available on a free. And he has a record.........

He cost the same as Leon Clarke
Exactly.

People saying we didn’t have the money to buy the finished article yet we got at least two 20+ goal a season strikers on free transfers in the past and yet we’ve spent 3/4 of a million minimum in fees on strikers this year.

People desperate to keep the SISU card in the back pocket in case robins recruitment turns out to be shit or even more likely...we never actually find out cause he plays them all out of position or allows doyle to hoof it up to them again and again

Perhaps forgetting who the manager was who signed Leon Clarke and McNulty for free. As that was by far and away McNulty's most prolific season, the manager takes no credit for that? I think some people need to take their blinkers off.

Think you completely miss the point.

SISU?

McNulty never came to us as a 20 goal a season striker. And look at what many of our supporters thought about him until he started scoring goals. Clarke had more clubs than goals for most of the teams he played for.

If it was so easy to get 20 goals a season strikers for free why don't all clubs sign them?

Baka was supposedly shite and wouldn't score. Now we have supporters ready to get on Chaplins back. They all know better than Robins. They seem to know there were better strikers available for free.

Never mind. If Baka keeps scoring and Chaplin starts getting the goals his play deserves they can say how good they are and forget about the comments they made about them.

Or use the absolute wet lettuce trope “I am happy to be proven wrong” get out of jail clause.

Chaplin will come good. He gets into lots of positions to score goals, like McNulty did. He can also finish with both feet. I think once he gets his first goal, he will go on to score quite a few for us.
I was at Yeovil away last year, early in the season and I couldn't quite believe the shit McNulty got from some fans. Yes, some of his efforts on goal were poor (and he did throw himself down to win a penalty at one point), but the point is that he could have scored on at least 3 occasions.
Chaplin is in a similar position at the moment - his confidence is low, but he isn't hiding. He'll be ok long term for us, I reckon.

Once he settles in to his surroundings he will come good if he had a pre season with us he would have 5 or 6 goals on the board by now that would be a 1 in 2 ratio
