It is when the play is so incoherentwe've clearly signed players for the formation we've been playing
Is that even an argument ?

True, we signed Simms / Wright to replace Gyok, probably Ayari to stand in for Cal but didn’t have time / luck / foresight to replace Gus with a roaming playmaker. Thing is, who we have signed in those positions has flopped so far.we've clearly signed players for the formation we've been playing

Sakamoto the winger that played wing back at his previous club and can play a 10.What, like Sakamoto the winger?
My point was it's a different system and players to the last 200 games so it's not really a comparison.
Good point. We might as well have brought Jodi Jones back. Neither really fit our style. What, like Sakamoto the winger?

My bad 21 minutes left including injury time of which there is a few minutes every single match ..
A change of formation isn't always going to get a result.. as tonight showed
The manager knows what he's doing nick , he almost took us to the Premier league mate being wank at subs and game management

We are Cov fans. The fact we are posting on here at midnight shows we are venting our frustration and at times overreacting. I guess that’s the human condition.Sure , not as great as we'd have hoped , still plenty of time to develop these players .. there's no doubt there is a massive overreaction on here , as usual
The problem isn’t the formation, it’s the dogshit slow ‘possession’ football we’re trying to play. Van Ewijk was supposedly to be an exciting wing back who loves to bomb on and we’ve got him cutting back inside and playing it to Eccles every time he gets it. Simms and Wright clearly aren’t capable of playing in a slow build-up system. It’s baffling as to why we’ve signed these players for big money and aren’t playing to their strengths.
OK great , he played wing back several times in belgium btw , will probably be left wing or right wing on there in a 343
I agree. The noticeable difference is that Simms and Wright cannot hold the ball up and lay off and turn and run. We tried developing Bakayoko and blew a lot of budget on him (£250k?) which at the time was chunky money to us. £12m is madness. The problem isn’t the formation, it’s the dogshit slow ‘possession’ football we’re trying to play. How many minutes has Ayari played to need a rest. He needs dropping from the squad and sent back to the sea side.Eccles needs resting as does Ayari. Start wright over Godden and let's go again.
He is useless defensively and predictable when attacking - a pointless signing
We went 4 at the back and conceded a pathetic second goal you
O’Hare cannot reverse the slide on his own. This team is so pathetic. I’m sick watching this shit show week in and week out.
What sort of bullshit is that?
I don’t think we were anywhere near as bad as most are making it out but we really lack leaders who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck or anyone with a really high work rate.I think we've become so used to Gyokeres or Hamer dragging us through games we've forgotten that there's no one else to do it, the players all look like they are waiting for someone else to do something special and there's no one, on the bright side O'Hare and Sakamoto looked lively when they came on and I'd play them at the top of the box with one upfront.
I think it’s this. We’re playing really slow careful stuff. That’s surely tactical. Tbf we’ve had good possession stats and although it doesn’t feel like it creating a fair few chances, just not converting them currently.Or it’s not in the ball retention game plan.
They move to the same space a lot I think, getting in each others way. Wright makes the Gyok run wide quite a lot so it’s less of an issue as Simms tends to sit central.Simms game lifted when Godden went off! Is Godden taking the space Simms needs to play or what? or don't they like playing with each other?
We're creating very good chances though. Just not taking them. That's the keyHow much longer would you persist with our own system provided results remain poor?
Yup. Glad that hasn't happened on the Israel-Palestine thread.Sure , not as great as we'd have hoped , still plenty of time to develop these players .. there's no doubt there is a massive overreaction on here , as usual
Tbf Thomas did that just after and got booked for it. Ref was poor in those few minutes. Should never have given them the throw in Thomas was raving about.I know? Moan about it show some emotion
I don’t recall seeing any very good chances. Plenty for them though. We're creating very good chances though. Just not taking them. That's the key
Sorry but Rotherham were very good second half.I said lowly teams Bristol looked rubbish and we lost Rotherham looked rubbish we also lost this time by 2 goals... nothing to be positive about atm unless things start to look up
On the way back from the game just now.
All players absolute trash. Special hopeless shoutouts for Da Silva (Bidwell must be scratching his head), Ayari, Simms and Eccles
one thing i found truely bizarre is the interaction between the players during the match. Only the ‘old guard’ aka Sheaf, Eccles and Fadz were talking to each other and trying to rally something during the game.
Every single new player would walk head hung low.
I really do thing there’s a huge divide in the team. I really do think last seasons swuad are genuinely baffled at the “quality” (or lack of) that we have brought in…
You missed my point, that’s exactly what I meant…. The old guard seem to be still trying whilst the new signings are struggling. To be fair I think the opposite
the players that we have from last year and before are the ones who will always run through brick walls for this club, they’ve proven it and earned that respect over time
I didn’t expect to be in a playoff chase again this season, but I also didn’t expect to be struggling near the bottom and getting played off the park by fecking Rotherham either. It is essentially what happened to Huddersfield, the star players got ripped out of the side and weren’t replaced effectively. Even then they had also lost their manager and hadn’t brought in anything like the same transfer revenue.A few weeks back i posted that those who had been here a while we're trying to integrate the new players, help them settle, integrate and its not been reciprocated
Yes those players do need to look at their own performances aswell, but those who have been here a while and know what it means to be a Coventry City player, and have a bond with the fans are just bereft of what to do squad wise at the moment from what i understand
As mentioned before, even from the early training sessions the 'senior pros' knew that those we had brought in (in the main) are not good enough, too passive, too quiet, bollockless basically, but have done all they can to welcome them, get them settled, help them on the training pitch and by all accounts its just not working
I miss the days when we were the underdog, us against the world, fans and players with a big fuckoff to everyone else. We're nowhere near that
We weren't played off the park, were we?I didn’t expect to be in a playoff chase again this season, but I also didn’t expect to be struggling near the bottom and getting played off the park by fecking Rotherham either. Most of that second half I’d say so, yes.We weren't played off the park, were we?
