Absolutely, playing budget should never be effected by upgrading the club infrastructure. It's not like they're building a fucking new stadium is it. RidiculousI feel like this is something the owners should be financing, and not the playing budget
That’s what £100m gets you! This is the kind of thing we’re up against. Leicester City.

Probably need to see the whole press conference to judge. I mean its not like its unknown for the Telegraph to focus on one thing and try and make it sound worse than what was actually said.I think this is a bit of a strange article in all honesty and as a Championship club I find it quite embarrassing.
Firstly why's pitch maintenance coming out of the playing budget?
And equally even if that's the case why are the club pushing that out to the press and making it public knowledge knowing full well the reaction it's going to get?
Not really sure what their aim is here. Putting my tin foil hat firmly on it suggests they're either pining for donations or prepping their narrative for when player sales are made in the summer.
Or [repping for leaving Ryton before adequate replacement is offered?I think this is a bit of a strange article and as a Championship club I find it quite embarrassing.

Just looking on the clubs twitter feed you can see that there was a fair amount of work done at Ryton in the summer and the groundman who looks after the pitches is apparently award winning.
As for budget where do you think the money is going to come from? Our owners are going to put extra money in because Robins wants new changing rooms at Ryton. There's pot of cash and it can be divided up whatever way Boddy and Robins see fit but if we spend x amount on Ryton that's x amount that won't be available in the player budget.
Narrative that plays many ways , should an actual stadium not materialize.Or [repping for leaving Ryton before adequate replacement is offered?

That's why we need to see the full press conference. For all we know a question was asked about pitch quality and Robins spoke about the CBS before moving on to this. But why push it out to the press?
It just sounds desperate. Even if that's the reality of the situation I don't understand why they've vocalised it.
Ryton needing improvement and a long term plan to move aren't exactly breaking news, its something that's been talked about for years and someone most would say its unlikely to significantly change under current ownership. And this isn’t by any stretch of the imagination a criticism. It’s the circumstance and the reality.
As Dave Boddy said recently, we are not playing Championship Manager. It is real and your tangible assets are your players and we have to have an environment where we can develop them to the full.
And while we move forward in a lot of areas, that’s an area that needs development. That may have to happen at a later time but it’s something we are all mindful of and working towards.

If you take the the 'just awful' headline it comes off a bit differently to some of the quotes later in the artice which makes it sound more like the everyday business of running a football club.
To SISU investors, probably. All part of the growth of the club off the field which needs to start lining up with a fairly successful Championship club, rather than clinging onto League 2 behind the scenes. Which is what it appears is happening.
I imagine it's a work in progress though, another season in Championship with 20k attendances each week will start paying dividends, you'd assume...
On the scrounge from Richard Overson again I guess and player sales. They will go for the hot fit for purpose angle to try to develop it for housing and get somewhere else.
Yeah, but I'm sure they drop hints about stuff they want and hope he offers. If he does i bet they say 'yes' very quickly.Tbf, I don't think the club 'scrounge' of Richard Overson. I think it's more of a case of of him offering to pay for things if required.
Maybe part of it is try and push the narrative for selling the training ground to move to a new one. It wasn't too long ago that the pitches at Ryton were purportedly in great nick.
