Dion McGee is still without a club since his release from Man Utd, absolute wand of a left foot as an attacking midfielder. Proper baller! Earlier in the summer was wanted by West Ham, Rangers etc, was on trial recently with Spurs but doesn’t looked to have happened for him.

Yep, won't be long, but it's healthy competition and coverNot for long
I think Debbie McGee still has a wand as wellRealistic then

Agreed. We have good cover for Dabo in Pask, Burroughs, Da Costa (when fit) and Lowe (who looked promising in pre-season). Not sure we need any more, so zero chance that Robins has Sam in mind for this role.He did, once v Gillingham but literally as a stop gap & looked uncomfortable.
Suggesting we have one eye on him potentially covering RWB is like suggesting we sign Stephen Hughes as goalkeeper cover.
Realistic then
Not convinced that this fella isn’t a secret Man United fan as the only players he ever seems to want us to sign are United youth players.Realistic then
Listen, here me out... could Sam play as a CDM? Good defensively and strong.
To go Spurs and play for their reserves? Surely he’d want to kick on with his career and play week in week out in the Championship somewhere and earn a move to a Prem team once you’ve got some first team appearances

Agree with this. Given the large number of midweek games I think there will be plenty of rotation. The way we play, the wing backs cover more ground and use more energy than any other players, so the ability to rotate during heavy schedules will be invaluable. Obviously, this doesn’t apply to Dabo who is a machine and needs no rest ;-)Just my take and with no inside knowledge. I suspect that Robins will rotate more this season given the demands of the Championship.
I think he would have rotated more last season but the squad depth wasn't quite there which resulted in Kelly and Godden playing through injuries.
I don't see the system changing which has worked so well for us. I don't see Giles as an AM. I do see Giles and McCallum rotating based on who we are playing and the game situation.
Surely this would have been set up earlier? is there a cashflow issue at Norwich?Did the same with Maddison ?

Not a waste of a loan in itself, just seems an... odd move all round, really.Don’t understand this loan at all, waste of a loan I think...
This is a strange one. I would have preferred us to have looked at a prospect from lower down the pyramid and groomed them for the job behind Giles. It takes up another loan spot meaning 1 more and that’s it, I don’t want us to be full of loans like a Mowbray team but also think we need another ACM in and expected that to be a loan from above.
Also for those that don’t understand loans, what usually happens is teams agree to loan a player at a certain % of their salary. You then pay less or more than this depending on if they’re playing. Having two people in the same position both on loan means we’re guaranteed to be paying top money for one of them which is restricting an already tight budget.
I also don’t get the Cov obsession with wanting to push players forward and out of position. Giles looks good driving at players because he’s able to get up some speed coming from space, if you put him as an ACM he will be playing in a much more congested part of the pitch so won’t be able to get to use his pace as effectively and is nowhere near two footed enough to get himself out of trouble.
I’m not disappointed in this because McCallum has already shown He’s a very good player and fits in with the squad so it’s good to have him here. I just don’t get the logic behind it.
But we don’t play with wingers. Our entire strength is in the system we play.Playing Giles at LW wouldn't be playing him out of position, it's his natural position and is being re-coached as a LWB.
He’s 20 and will be able to get a much better move than CCFC
People comparing the Dabo at CM shouts to Giles are CAM shouts are a bit off the mark imo. As has been said, Giles is a wide midfielder who has been converted to a wing back. People have been calling for Jodi and Jobello to be given a go in the Allen/O'Hare role. Don't really see why the idea of Giles playing there is considered so ridiculous, feels like people just going "left back to attacking midfield, no way".
But we don’t play with wingers. Our entire strength is in the system we play.
So where does he play further forward in our formation then
Could be a combination of Black Lives Matter and Giles' silly haircut.Norwich clearly don’t think he’s good enough for a promotion chasing squad
it’s unlikely robins approached Norwich for whatever reason they have offered him back
Our change things up option is currently two up top. If we’re looking for wingers as a change option then we need to find a right winger too. It would also mean going 4 at the back which takes Dabo’s game away, means we lose one of the 3 at the back which Fadz for one never looked comfortable in and he’s the only leader we’ve got there and completely negates the whole point of having two LWBs that don’t look completely comfortable at LB.Agreed. But, we need options if we need to change things up.
We can’t just rely on one system and the same personnel otherwise we run the risk of being found out tactically.
Giles for Shipley?
