A 2 1 win, back in the top 6, and some of you halfwits still can't help but come on and feel the need to criticise Godden. Fuck off, you bell ends. He worked his arse off, he pressed constantly and didn't stop. You always have to find something to bloody complain about.
Great result. Again. PUSB

I agree to an extent, but last week he was offering to feet, taking it into his chest, holding it up. Not as good as Simms can but he was a platform to play off. Today seemed like he was running away from the ball all the time.

I think that might have been instruction, the pitch wasn't conducive to tight football into feet

Such a comfortable win. Even after their goal they didn’t create anything. Won whilst playing badly so happy days. Free hit next Friday. PUSB

We made hard work of that really, we are missing Wright as an option in behind.

I'm not usually one for this but I'd if at all possible rest Saka, Bidwell and Van Ewijk for the game on Friday

Wilson, Ben (not Callum! - cup tied) Binks, Lati, Da Silva, Allen, Thor/Torp, whatever the Viking's name is) with Simms and Tavares up top all to start in the cup game. Maybe chuck in a promising youngster or two.

A fairly ugly win but they all count.

Ref shite.

Godden complete passenger as usual. He is so lost in that role in this formation. I don’t understand why Robins keeps picking him. He’s not fast, not tall, not strong. What does he offer?

Wright is injured and he doesn’t rate Simms clearly. Wright will be back in after the cup game.

Think I can remember about two occasions tbf a header his teammates should have made more of and the shot which I thought he would of let go on.

To be fair to Wednesdayites, their forum seems full of sensible posters or, at least, is very well moderated in terms of content. Majority of their fans recognise we are a good team. The usual 'rubbish ref' seems to resonate with most fanbases.

Think I’d rest as many as possible on Friday, feels like a game to get injuries in.

Collins
Lats Thomas Binks Dasilva
Sheaf Torp
Simms Allen Palmer
Godden

Hopefully a forward in by then to play out wide.

What an insane thing to write about a player who's just allegedly received racist abuse.

To be fair, if he was at the opposite end of the ground he might not have known what was happening and might have thought Palmer was just winding the fans up.

If he did know that Palmer was accusing someone of racist abuse and still posted it then yeah fuck him, that would be an appalling thing to write.

Great result.
What’s good is that we’ve reached a playoff position with a team that still has plenty of room for improvement.
The most obvious being at some point soon we really need the strike force to start scoring more.

What did Palmer do for so many of their fans to be so vitriolic towards him?

Well based on the racist tweets all over twitter, that may explain a little bit.

He was getting dogs abuse from early on and there's no real moment to stir them up.

Im slightly confused my some of the Wednesdays fans abuse to palmer for "goading" them.

Yes it's a bit silly for a player to give some back. But it's hardly foul play and worth crying about. esp as he was clearly being given some early on int he match.

From Palmers point of view I think he's been turning a lot of peoples opinions on him recently with some really good performances. He's always had good feet but he also looks more up for it and ready for the fight now.
If we get behind him after this I think it might actually galvanise him further.

I think I'd chuck a few youngsters in. I know Robin's said he wanted a cup run but we have a real chance of going up now so I reckon he'll reassess that.

Kai Andrews or Bradley Stretton in for Godden up top and Eghosa in for Thomas. Tav in for Simms.

Maybe Tavares for Godden, but I think throwing random kids in is a recipe for disaster. Will be interesting to see what team they put out as the league will be more important to them too.

Certainly a good case now for resting 4 or 5 players next week, Saka, MVE, Palmer, Godden, COH maybe Thomas.

None of the little tramps would dare say anything to him in the street though or in a bar. Mob mentality and they just think they can do what they want so I’m glad he gave it back.

The thing that gets me about this though is that if that is what he (fan) is prepared to do in front of live cameras and surrounded by thousands of people, how comfortable must they be? How commonplace must that kind of disgusting racism be within their group of mates?

I tell you what if I was next to someone at the cov game and they did a monkey gesture I’d fucking go for them

Godden 79 minutes 9 touches
Simms 11 mins plus injury time 7 touches.

Godden - 6 goals
Simms - 3 goals

We can all pick out stats but one stat doesn’t tell you anything, either way…

Godden started and chased / harried their defenders well, he forced mistakes and helped put them on edge leading to hurried clearances / turning over possession. Simms wouldn’t have offered that I doubt first half.

Simms came on when we needed a target man to aim for and hold the ball up, and it gave them something different to think about. He chased, and to be fair I think it’s the most I’ve seen him run after loose balls, but he was there to offer himself as an outlet not necessarily to run in behind, hence he had more touches coming towards the ball.

It has been said before - horses for courses, and both played their roles well today I thought.

Some changes for next week for sure and especially hope to see Torp get the nod.

Another for the shit take of the day award

"
Reading comments about how Palmer was acting in the second half I wouldn't be surprised if he made this all up now. He sounds like an absolute tail.

If it did happen then I obviously hope the person gets caught, banned and educated, but if Palmer is the kind of character as described by some in this thread I won't be feeling any pity for him as an individual."
