I don’t follow the logic. If the penalty had been scored, arguably we would have won the game 4-3. In reality, the rest of the game would have been different and any result would have been possible.I’m on the fence about whether to be optimistic or not about how things have turned out so far. I’m fairly pleased with the defensive reinforcements, but unfortunately not with the new strikers, especially Simms. The fact that 2 of our new defenders have scored while Simms has not is surprising. Sakamoto is under utilized and needs game time, possibly at the expense of one of the strikers in a 5 man midfield. We’ve dropped 6 points from winning positions and if you think about the missed penalty vs Watford you could argue that we would have led and dropped 2 points there as well. I clearly think adding the extra man in midfield versus using a 2nd striker could have helped preserve the win in the games we led, but understand that obviously circumstances dictate the substitutions. Can’t wait to integrate Allen and COH into the mix. Think Binks is good and need to see Kitching given a run out.
The point I was trying to make was how we’ve squandered leads and dropped points. The Watford game was one that we could have led, but didn’t thanks to a piss poor penalty. At 2-1 we looked like we were going to lose by an even greater margin. Then their own goal hands the initiative back to us and we could and should have taken control. But what we we did by returning the gift was unfathomable. So one could potentially see it as 2 points dropped is all I was saying. Even our win versus Boro was only sealed thanks to 2 fairly late goals after a few close calls. I just hope we can start to eke out 1-0 wins like we did last season (don’t care if it’s ugly - just want to win).I don’t follow the logic. If the penalty had been scored, arguably we would have won the game 4-3. In reality, the rest of the game would have been different and any result would have been possible.
It's disappointing that the Roman's never said this-it dates from medieval French. Can imagine a Cantona of his day coming up with it.It’s a case of Rome wasn’t built in a day, Robins has almost completely revamped the squad and would have signed more if he could have.
He would have had targets which didn’t happen in time certain he will come back to it in January. If we hang around in our current position I’m certain we will add to our squad and be in a very good position for the second half of the season.
Being in the playoffs means you play longer so lose less fitness over the break. We've also had 7 competitive games as well as pre season now so should all be up to speed. I would agree with you if it was the first 2 or 3 games but after 7 it shouldn't be a factor.Because we were in the playoffs and didn’t start back training until after most of the teams.
Sunderland aren’t doing too badly - I recall them being in the play offsBecause we were in the playoffs and didn’t start back training until after most of the teams.

Every time Cantona is brought up as some weirdo/sage/whatever I cringe so hard. The man made a very basic analogy and British society acted like he’s started doing Latin haikus.
Not the final though.Sunderland aren’t doing too badly - I recall them being in the play offs
Literally one week before the final. that one extra week rest isn’t going to make that much difference in the grand scheme of thingsNot the final though.
It was 11 days before which is about 4 games in championship termsLiterally one week before the final. that one extra week rest isn’t going to make that much difference in the grand scheme of things
Further to this how many of our current players played in the play off final? From the starting 11 McFadz, Sheaf, Kelly, Eccles, Godden? It was 11 days before which is about 4 games in championship terms

The window is shut.Yeah but suppose you’re in charge and you think they’re awful, why keep them?
Easy, just rinse and repeat like it’s FIFA.So would you think it best we try to sell both of them in January and try again? What if their replacements don’t light up the place after 6 games?
This is such a weak irrelevant argument. The team is different and the league is different. We dont have 2 outstanding attacking players. At this point last season we were sitting on 2pts, having drawn 2 and lost 4, we had managed to concede 13 and score 7 , we had also been stuffed 1 - 4 at home by Bristol City in the EFL cup and were unsurprisingly rooted to the bottom of the league and I’m sure Hamer & Vic were instrumental in that team.
Some folk really need to get a grip, the fact is we have lost 2 football matches in the last 25so 2 less than we lost in the first 6 games of last season.
It isn’t a weak argument it’s a fact, the same doom mongers who were predicting a relegation scrap last season are out again now, and even with 2 outstanding attacking players we’d only managed 2 draws and 4 losses. This is such a weak irrelevant argument. The team is different and the league is different. We dont have 2 outstanding attacking players.
Getting draws isn't enough to get you top 6.
That was basically my point! I was denigrating the phrase. Although, TBH, everyone I know took the piss out of Cantona for the seagulls etc, I don't know anyone who thinks that about him.Every time Cantona is brought up as some weirdo/sage/whatever I cringe so hard. Eccles has stepped up and there's a marked improvement to his gameFurther to this how many of our current players played in the play off final? From the starting 11 McFadz, Sheaf, Kelly, Eccles, Godden?
3 Are arguably our better performers. Kelly is a yard off the pace and has been for sometime and Eccles is Eccles.
also Hamer is already the best player in a team in the league above and he’s just come back from injury
Eccles becoming a quality centre mid? What are you smoking…He's becoming a quality centre mid
What attributes does he have that are “quality”?He was shite last night but apart from Lati who was any good ?
