Probably to stop people acting like bellends.Explained a lot on the Atmosphere thread.
They admitted removing every seat at the end of the row from sale. Hundreds of seats empty because of that.
You now cannot buy tickets in there so you either sneak up or you move elsewhere. Many familiar faces have given up getting up there and have moved elsewhere. Ruining the atmosphere.
Cocaine Corner.
I’m sorry but it was a disaster waiting to happen and something needed to be done. You literally couldn’t see the gangways between blocks 14 & 17. Imagine someone was overdosing and needed medical attention.
Imagine if Boddy rocked up to a meeting with the safety group and took some of the suggestions on here. Storm in, tell them to fuck off and that we are going to have designated blocks for people who wanted to take class As at gamesWhat did people expect?

I don't think we have a lot of choice in that. I doubt that the club are voluntarily paying out for a larger police presence than they have to. Some of the things that are done like that stupid fence defy all logic but what can we doDo you not think we’re over policed compared to other clubs?

We have very little push back on this because people, particularly in that corner, are incapable of behaving themselves. We've had issues with overcrowding, people standing in walkways, people refusing to sit in the right seat, persistent standing, people trying to get across no mans land to the away supporters, smoke bombs being thrown, pitch invasions, underage drinkers and open drug taking
What is Boddy supposed to say at any meeting with the authorities that will negate all that? the easiest way to get the restrictions removed is to have no trouble
Not sure there would be a complaints procedure as such but it would all be down to the SAG so the club would get their chase to have a say at that. Although my experience of event licensing is that councils are very much you do what we say or you don’t get a licenseGenuine question but are there complaints procedures or anything? The club is clearly losing revenue from the over the top policing.
The role of Coventry City Council’s event Safety Advisory Group (SAG) is to provide specialist advice to event organisers. It is the group’s main objective that all events held in Coventry uphold the highest standards of public safety and wellbeing of the public, operatives, participants etc.
The SAG is hosted by a Chair and an Executive Support Officer. The following teams have people who are core members of the SAG:
- Coventry City Council
- Events
- Licensing
- Environmental Health (health and safety & food safety)
- Environmental Protection (noise)
- Highways
- Parks
- Emergency Planning
- Public Health
- West Midlands Fire Service
- West Midlands Ambulance Service
- West Midlands Police
Fairly sure "a few" means a small number greater than 1 to be even more pedantic. Two is less than a few - thought I'd end the year on a pedantic note.
Probably to stop people acting like bellends.
Used to be over crowded. What did people expect?
Remember the game where the tannoy was telling people to go back to their actual seats because it was over crowded and the pricks just cheered and carried on?
The club need to sort this for next season. Swap away fans with singers’ corner or put away fans in the corner where pay on the gate is and put our vocal fans behind the goal at the north stand
As much as I think that’s a good idea , I’m pretty sure the safety people and the WMP wouldn’t let them open block 13 - as they forced them to put netting over it last season when it wasn’t even open to buy tickets inThe way I'd solve it would be to open Block 13 up to meet demand.
I'd then make the Telegraph stand cheaper. Even at £1-2 less than the rest of the ground, it would be more appealing to younger fans and would fill it out a little more evenly.
I'd then also block off the front 2 rows of every stand and encourage fans to use it as a section to put flags up. Makes it more difficult to get in the pitch and makes it look a little more full.

Fairy nuffFairly sure "a few" means a small number greater than 1 to be even more pedantic.
I had a season ticket in the Telegraph stand when we first moved to the Ricoh. Spent a lot of games with Sun in my eyes as it sets right behind the away fans. I wouldn't be going back in there.Should encourage fans in singers corner to move to the other end of the ground behind the goal. Create a new "West End" .
Let's face it, sitting in corners is crap and the view generally rubbish.

With you on this.1
Couple
Few
By definition a few has to be more than a couple
It depends on the time of year. Both north and east stand views suffer from the sun at certain times and it also depends how high in the stand you sit.I had a season ticket in the Telegraph stand when we first moved to the Ricoh. It’s very lucrative for the police to paint a war zone picture in that corner. Yes there are some problems but the exaggeration to the right people gets them some nice easy highly paid overtime generally .I don't think we have a lot of choice in that. Away fans should be at the other end of the stadium and then their coaches can get out quickly. It depends on the time of year. Both north and east stand views suffer from the sun at certain times and it also depends how high in the stand you sit.
Every stadium will have this problem to some degree.

It seems like the more and more safety measures they put in like closing blocks, netting and the fence the worse the problems get.Imagine if Boddy rocked up to a meeting with the safety group and took some of the suggestions on here. Storm in, tell them to fuck off and that we are going to have designated blocks for people who wanted to take class As at games
Lol noThose blocks have always over rated themselves as fans. Probably driven a few proper fans out?
To be fair I'd rather have a craft beer and be able to sit and clap all gameLol no
And that's your choiceTo be fair I'd rather have a craft beer and be able to sit and clap all game
I was being sarcastic lol, really enjoyed the atmosphere when I managed to get over that side. And that's your choice
