The mindset has to be right. Id rather go into that game needing a win than a draw. Does it sound crazy. Id be more confident needing a win than needing not to lose.I would like to think we would have our playoff place confirmed by the Middlesbrough game.

I'd rather go into that game needing nothing myself. The mindset has to be right. Id rather go into that game needing a win than a draw. Does it sound crazy. Id be more confident needing a win than needing not to lose.
We will royaly fuck it up if we just need not to lose.
Bristol City have Burnley away. Burnley have only lost 2 league games all season. We're 2 points ahead of them. Good chance a draw in each would keep us in the top 6. Maybe even just a single point. If we lose the next 2 then we are up against it - we need at least 3 points

5 points from our hardest 3 games left would put us in a very good position. We already have 3I'd take 2 and would be ecstatic.
It isn't relying on anyone else. It's being realistic. Away at Sheffield United won't be easy but I think we will get some kind of result. Bristol go to Burnley. Then Burnley come to ours. Burnley have lost 2 out of 38. Think we have a good chance of a point. But it won't be easy.Rather not rely on anyone else - it’s in our own hands so we need to take advantage
Could be for sure.I wouldn't fancy playing Burnley over two legs. Their ability to shut a game down would be absolutely toxic to us.
Two draws out of Sheff Utd and Burnley, would be fantastic. Be really, really happy with that.I'd take 2 and would be ecstatic.
Our aim is to get as many points as we can. If we finish in 5th....or even 4th...we have an easier route to Wembley. But even coming 6th doesn't tell us who we would get.The question of ‘who would you want in the playoffs if we get there’ will be answered after these games in any case.
We went on an absolute miracle run out of nowhere…The odds (SkyBet) for a top 6 finish
Coventry 4/9
West Brom 4/5
Bristol City 11/8
Middlesbrough 5/2
Sheff Weds 9/1
Blackburn 18/1
Watford 22/1
Norwich 28/1
It's 2 from 4 barring an absolute miracle run from one of the chasing pack, none of whom are remotely suggesting they have the quality to go on one.
Dunno if you can just call it a run at this point. Since Lampard came in we've amassed as many points give or take as the top teams. He's been here a while now which leads one to suggest we are just in fact, a top team.We went on an absolute miracle run out of nowhere…
We've averaged 2 points per game over 21 games under Lampard, which is borderline title winning form achieved over nearly half a season. That's not a 'miracle run'.We went on an absolute miracle run out of nowhere…
He's hit the ground running. Just a shame we had the annual shit start to the seasonWe've averaged 2 points per game over 21 games under Lampard, which is borderline title winning form achieved over nearly half a season. That's not a 'miracle run'.
None of the chasing pack look like getting close to doing that even over 8 games. Sheffield Weds need 19 points from their last 8 to reach 70 (which still might not be enough). 6 wins and a draw from their last 8? Really?...
I think I looked yesterday and was 57 Last year was 60!!Can someone with the nouse show a chart of how many points we had after 38 games in 2022/2023 playoff season please? Just curious
4I think I looked yesterday and was 57 Last year was 60!!
play off year we got 13 points from last 8 games - last year just 4 points
Thanks. I'm never certain how to find mid season data

Winning 10 games out of 12 isn’t miracle form? We've averaged 2 points per game over 21 games under Lampard, which is borderline title winning form achieved over nearly half a season. That's not a 'miracle run'.

I was just pointing out winning 10 in 12 is up there with the best runs of form in the club’s history. If the season started when lampard joined , we would still be 4th but just 3 points off Leeds in 1st .. we'd also be 11 points clear of 7th
Weirdly our miracle run is almost being matched by Sheffield United , I'd agree with tom at this point i think this is just who we are and often teams grind results here and there
We have spent a good 40-50 mill in 2 years so its no surprise we are as good as this , the recruitment really has been good hasn't it for the most part

It is, and its brilliant of course... but given the spend relative to the division we're in, its no surprise the run has come now rather than at pretty much any other point since i've been watching. It's easy to get that spend wrong but it looks like we've largely got it right, which is great and I'm also not taking anything away from the manager who i think is a breath of fresh air... but we are a top team in this league, that's just who we are atm.I was just pointing out winning 10 in 12 is up there with the best runs of form in the club’s history.
