It's not too excited, its just paying attention to the opposition. None of the teams below Boro are showing they have what it takes to get in. In terms of quality, maybe Norwich i'm surprised by, they could go on a run... but they've been totally hopeless recently.I so think some are probably getting a bit too excited on closing the playoff door to some teams.
We are doing very, very well, but that gap isn't that big. There are still 8 games to go. One or two losses, and one or two wins for some of those teams and they'll be on us.
I have faith we can do it, and hopefully with a couple of games to spare. I do expect some twists on the way though!
Tell you what,if we're in the division next season we'd definitely put pressure on anyone coming down if things are staying as they are.
Be interesting to see the state of the relegated teams.. Ipswich have built something of a Championship dream team so they'll be ok i think. But the others lets see. Southampton are just hopeless and Leicester, well lets just hope those cunts finally get whats coming to them and a proper punishment for once.Tell you what,if we're in the division next season we'd definitely put pressure on anyone coming down if things are staying as they are.
suggests WBA and middlesbrough are easiest, however WBA still have to come here and go to Bristol
Our catalyst was bringing in a new exceptional manager to replace one that was shot to pieces by the end of his tenure which has got the best out of a talented squad.Winning 10 games out of 12 isn’t miracle form?
Doncaster won 9 of their last 10 to go from nowhere to the playoffs last season, not too dissimilar to what we’ve just done. The point is that stranger things in football have happened than a team coming into brilliant form in the final run in.Our catalyst was bringing in a new exceptional manager to replace one that was shot to pieces by the end of his tenure which has got the best out of a talented squad.
What's changing at Sheffield Wednesday this week to spur them onto winning at least 6 of their last 8? Its taken them 18 to win their last 6.
Sensible Championship dream team was said about Luton tooBe interesting to see the state of the relegated teams.. Ipswich have built something of a Championship dream team so they'll be ok i think. Not by me, although obviously I think everyone expected better of Luton! The Ipswich team is far better than Lutons, although if they want to prove me wrong and go and do a Luton then fair play, they have my blessing.Sensible Championship dream team was said about Luton too
If Plymouth/Luton are down by then, I'd be hoping we'd pick up at least one win from those. Even being miserable, I'd be surprised if we didn't pick up 11 points as a minimum.Sky Bet Championship | League Table | Predicted Final League Table | 2024-2025 | Football Web Pages

This table has us 6th whilst picking up only 10 more points as follows
Sheff U L
Burnley L
Portsmouth W
Hull D
WBA W
Plymouth L
Luton L
Middlesbrough W
If Sheff Weds turn around a 9 point deficit (the extra point to overcome their shit GD) on us over the last 8 games then we will have fallen off a cliff and won't even be in contention ourselves as Bristol and WBA will be out of sight.Doncaster won 9 of their last 10 to go from nowhere to the playoffs last season, not too dissimilar to what we’ve just done. A fresh Grimes and Rudoni v jaded Hamer and O'Hare??? mmmmmmmmmmmmm nice!!Our aim is to get as many points as we can. If we finish in 5th....or even 4th...we have an easier route to Wembley. But even coming 6th doesn't tell us who we would get.
I'm starting to fancy our chances against Sheffield United. It would be excellent if we could get a result against them. Even a draw would do. What is just as important as a point would be a good performance. Half as good as our last game would suffice. Get Burnley above them. Let them worry about us.
A big bonus for us is having players like Wright, Rudoni and EMC that are fresh. Most players are starting to feel the pace. The everfresh Grimes gelling the team and pulling the strings.
We have the momentum. It's ours to lose.
Although our underlying numbers have been fine all season, so not completely out of nowhere. We went on an absolute miracle run out of nowhere…

I'm not saying that. I'm saying we weren't a million miles away.I don’t believe the idea that we would’ve magically turned things around under Robins though despite the ‘underlying data metrics’ suggesting so.
Lampard hasn’t completely revolutionised the way we play, but the small tactical tweaks have gone a long way!
I find it funny that you can certainly find a sack Dean Austin thread on the forum if you go back 4 months or so. Fickle fans.If the season started when lampard joined , we would still be 4th but just 3 points off Leeds in 1st .. we'd also be 11 points clear of 7th
Weirdly our miracle run is almost being matched by Sheffield United , I'd agree with tom at this point i think this is just who we are and often teams grind results here and there
We have spent a good 40-50 mill in 2 years so its no surprise we are as good as this , the recruitment really has been good hasn't it for the most part
I'm not saying that. I'm saying we weren't a million miles away.
Hamer doesnt give you the same qualities as Grimes. No chance Hamer sits in front of the defence and dictates play. That's an interesting "which would you prefer?". Grimes & Rudoni, or Hamer & O'hare. I'd prefer Hamer over Grimes, but Rudi over O'hare.
I dont know why, and I'm sure I've said this before on here, but I have a feeling we turn Burnley over
Fully agree, would have Hamer back in a instance though to reinforce the midfield, but although I loved O'Hare not sure where he fits into how we play currently.Hamer doesnt give you the same qualities as Grimes. No chance Hamer sits in front of the defence and dictates play.

The stats were there. We kept missing chances and letting soft goals in. Below Middlesbrough are the sides that were well above us and now we've built a gap between us because of their poor form. There's nothing to suggest they will turn it around. And even if they do it isn't in their hands. We went on an absolute miracle run out of nowhere…
It does. But there wasn't an immediate change when he took over. He had to get through to the players what he wanted from them first and also had to learn about the players.
Why are the bookies offering big odds for the clubs Blackburn and below to make the playoffs?I so think some are probably getting a bit too excited on closing the playoff door to some teams.
We might. But we have Burnley at home. Bristol City have Burnley away. We're ahead of them by 2 points.I think we may drop out of the playoffs in the next couple with them both being tough fixtures, however our run in is relatively easy compared to those around us so we should breeze back in and be on top form for the playoffs. This squad have some heart so we definitely won't be getting rolled over in the playoffs.
Norwich v WBA next. They know if they don't win this their season is more or less finished. Could do us a massive favour. Wouldn't be unhappy with a draw. It's not too excited, its just paying attention to the opposition. None of the teams below Boro are showing they have what it takes to get in. I've said exactly the same myself. They've been scraping results. A bit more difficult as it is at their place. Saw the same thing with Sunderland. 3-0 didn't do us justice.I really don’t think you should fear Sheff Utd. We were arguably the better side at their place last week, and should have probably come away with 3 points if it wasn’t for Cooper in goal.
Burnley though will be tough. I’m expecting nothing there next week for us!
