So... are you doing this? Talk is cheap.
Not on my PAYG mobile it isn't!

With regards to ACL, PWKH if you read this is there a massive cost in stewarding the Ricoh that would need to be met? And if so does anyone think there are former/current CCFC stewards who would be prepared to do it pro bono? Would be quite nice to hear Clive, Goeff and Stuart booming out over the tannoy from CWR as you sat there in a seat at the Ricoh picturing the action from the commentary.

Thought the trust would pounce on this themselves to be honest.

Im a member of the trust already (i dont know if you guys are too (veg samosa and samo) so i'll happily send the email in the morning, link them to this thread.

See where we go from there first

Exactly, call it a protest and it will be the same people just going to shout and change sisu out and say here here a lot like it is parliament.

It is about the football..

How about calling it a SISU Free Saturday!

It doesn't have to be by the pitch, could just be in a function room.

Why does everything have to have a name or be a campaign? Surely it could just be listening to the game at the Ricoh?

I'm not tbh, but not because I have a particular problem with them, just always prefered to go it alone. Was it Woody Allen that said; 'I would not want to any club who would have someone like me as a member' Yes please send it if you would.

Think it has to be either in, or outside the ricoh. Function room isnt quite the effect we're after is it?

I assumed loads of people would turn up more than would fill a function room, I know the Eon is fairly large, however I was expecting more than a thousand which I just checked is the maximum that can take.

Agreed. Less is more. We're just going to the Ricoh to 'support' our team together.

I guess so but just thinking of logistics to open a turnstile, get stewards etc. Plus if it is raining it might get very depressing if we are losing.

This also happens for normal games:p!!
Early doors isnt it, we dont know how receptive ACL will be if at all.

I'm not a member of the Trust. But, by Monday or so, hopefully I'll have written up a bit of a plan for what to do and what action to take. Then, if you could pass that proposal onto the trust, as a fully formed plan and document and not a forum thread, then that'd be grand.

It doesn't have to be by the pitch, could just be in a function room.

Firstly, I agree with you on the point it shouldn't be a protest. It should be just like a home game. However, it kinda needs a name or at least an abstract adjective so that the Police/Ground know what we're doing (a function, party or meeting would go down better than a protest) and so it's more easily marketable.

Also if we're pushing it into the press and radios to advertise, people need to know what they're turning up for and saying "well, we kinda don't want to go to Northampton so we thought a symbolic gesture would be to turn up to the Ricoh and all listen in and pretend it's a home game, we'll have a few beers and a bbq and maybe some old players" is a bit too long for that.

I would definitely travel up for this, Northampton is closer to my home than Coventry but I would still rather travel to Coventry to try make a point to them corrupt feckers.

Cant we just cal them HOME games or 'home games' in massive inverted comma's? I think the emphasis should be on... this is where we should be, and we are!!!

im in but will ACL allow it

Well who can say.. be great if they did though. I'm sure they'd want too, legal advice might go against.

Calling them "Home Games" is a great idea!

Yeah, the legal aspect and us forcing them into helping us may be a bad idea. However, if we took out a hall or room, we'd just be regular customers and they can't really say no. But, there's the cost of that to think about and so we'd either need to charge entry/donation OR get the Trust involved. However, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

We could do something along these lines!

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tailgate_party

Have audio from the game and what a statement it would make to the inbred wankers at SISU

Love this thread I'm definitely in!

Again, great idea, but it'd still need ACL's permission to use their car park and see what I mentioned above. We could move it to the car/coach park over the road or ask Tesco if we can use a section of theirs. But, is that too far away from the stadium? All we can do is ask.

Surely ACL would happily support us in something like this as its basically the fans standing with them and backing the idea of the team staying at the Ricoh. I really do think we could make this happen. Just imagine, first 'home game' of the season and the Ricoh is a hive of activity & Northampton is a few men & their dogs! Class

Thing is, they are currently taking the high road, saying they'd let us play rent free, wanting a solution, etc etc. Once they start hosting fans for home games and actively taking business away from SISU Northampton FC (even if it is fans who wouldn't go regularly) it looks a bit like a cheap shot and weakens their negotiating position with SISU by saying "Hey look, we're keeping the fans away from you."

I was about to mention a 'tailgate party' as they do for games in USA. I went to the last 2 Wrestlemania's in the US and they had tailgate party's at both. Booze, music, lots of BBQ food!

I am sure this would attract the media to our cause and it would be something totally different to the usual sort of protest.

For anyone interested. Monday I will be writing up a proposal to send to the Trust on what we'd like to happen for the Home Game at the Ricoh. I'll outline the ideas (such as in the bowl, conference rooms, tailgate party, etc) and expand on the post I made earlier about what we need to do to make it happen and contingencies in case these fail. I'll present it here first before sending it off. THIS WILL NOT BE A PROTEST.

The Trust's involvement is not essential, but desirable due to their contacts and coffers. If you want to lend a hand in the mean time, or have a good idea (and I mean, well thought out with ways to achieve it, not just a line of text saying "we should do xyz") then PM me it.

For those wondering who put me in charge, blame Samo ;)
But anyway, I've gotta be in Colchester stupidly early for a job interview and to move house, so I'mma leave you guys for tonight.

This is something everybody could get behind and even have a good time doing on Saturdays!

To make a real stance we need 1 major idea to pull together and support and I believe this is it.

I like the idea - and I agree needs all the support from the media. local and national - it would be a fantastic statement if we could get 5k plus to turn up, maybe we should tell people its the regional finals of the JPT :D but seriously I would love to be involved, I have friends at the CT (Les Reid/Andy Turner) I worked with them for 8 years, so maybe once there is a plan in place I could go and speak with them? I also know the CT Editor Alun Thorne...maybe rather than having the Sphinx play we could have a tournament for local clubs, I will donate a trophy to play for - this will bring extra bodies and we could charge a small entrance fee that could go towards the cause or a local charity?
