Yes but there is a mass of Sky blue fans who walk that way to their cars etc- they would either have to keep the away fans locked in or stop the Cov fans walking around that way - in my view I am not sure they would let that happen

Lots of away fans walk round by the casino to get to their cars at the moment. Walking right past home fans,never a problem.

Moving away fans to the North Stand will never happen for all sorts of logistical reasons a main one is most of the police and security are at the South end of the ground inside or out.

I did and all I remember is about a 3 mile walk to the coaches. Didn't see any trouble and could've parked them all outside.

Don't get what's wrong with a corner. Many clubs have it as their noisy section.

I think it's small and shit.
We should have at least most of one of the behind goal stands (ideally close enough to the away fans too).
My overriding preference for the South to be the ‘home end’ is because:
1) Improve and consolidate home support.
2) Improve the match day experience bringing in more fans/revenue.
3) With tweaks to the ground/concourse and transport improve safety/segregation.
4) Greater/louder vocal encouragement for Sky Blues result in 12 extra points per season particularly if away support must contend with rain/sun by being moved North.
It’s Win/win/win/win

In the early days of the Ricoh the club sold home tickets in the South Stand (Jewson stand as it was then). I used to stand there. I remember Stoke bringing a very boisterous 3,000 fans in their promotion season with about 6 stewards separating them and about 100 City fans. We’d have been fucked.
The take up was very poor and with the Telegraph Stand being the “home end” it didn’t last long. However, I think now that everyone has migrated to be nearer to the away fans it would get a big take up and would improve the atmosphere even further.

I’m sure there is a good reason. Station? Location of the casino? ease of access for coaches? It May not change until the stadium becomes full. A trial period would be good. Allocated season tickets? Just 1500 behind the goal?
I find it bizarre how we talk about fans mingling outside being this big head-scratcher that we have to find a solution for.
As others have said, look at every other ground in the country. At HR the WT would exit around 20 yards away from the away fans exit.
At the Ricoh, from 2005-2017, there was no separation outside. You could walk straight across car park B straight past the south stand exit. It's all a bit weird.

This is true. Since Middlesbrough fans moved from the corner to behind the goal they say it has had a negative affect on the atmosphere.

Yeah, I recall it was part of a push to get fans behind both goals, but they wouldn't sell match tickets in there so it never took off.

I don’t know about that, best home fans in the division last season.
Oh, agree with that, they were excellent, but just the comments I have seen them make.
The corners do have better acoustics though I think.

There could be a number of valid reasons why moving the away fans isn’t possible, but surely this isn’t one of them. If the Police have some sort of base at the stadium but can’t look after an area 150 yards away round the corner it’s pretty strange.

Not to mention that for years there was a simple and effective solution if trouble was expected. Keep the away fans in for 10 mins after the game.

I wasn't aware of what happened, I can only comment on what I saw.
Fulham and City fans mingling behind the Putney End Stand eating drinking chatting seemingly with no bovver.
To learn that a knife was pulled by someone somewhere leaves a rather spoiled view of my pleasant image of what I experienced in my first ever visit at Craven Cottage.
I sincerely hope no one got hurt and has left someone badly traumatised.

I'm not sure how will this picture will come out, but I was feeling a bit poorly and bored this afternoon, so had a think about this discussion.
Key:
Yellow - New Singers Corner - Approx 2000 Capacity
Red - New Away End - Approx 3000 Capacity
Black - New Safe Standing Section - Approx 2000 Capacity
The section above the black square then becomes pretty much another tier, which could look smart behind a decent safe standing section, which itself would fit nicely between the two large entry/access points. The away end would need to comply with the minimum league standards (3000 I believe) and therefore might need some jiggling, but the rest of the stadium after that pretty much stays as it is.
I know I'm not going to win architect of the year, but it's some food for though, perhaps.

I like what you’ve done there in principle, including the safe standing. It gives Sky Blues fans the area behind the goal, and relegates away supporters to the corner. Currently it’s the other way around, which is my main objection to how things are now.
But are there really 3000 seats in the yellow bit? And I guess you've assumed that the SAG are going to give up on their apparent demand for an enormous No Man’s Land on each side of the Away section? That's what makes things so difficult to solve, and their approach seems like overkill to me.
