They were a strange band. Saw them at cov theatre in the early 80's. they were a fantastic live act but most of their studio stuff was very forgettable.
They don't want your name, just your number !Six just played something by New Musik too. I used to love them.

I'd never heard of them, but just played Luxury (Kraftwerk meets Andy Partridge's Explode Together dub side-project), A Map Of You (very ahead of it's time, almost ambient sounding-clear Eno influence), Sanctuary (more classic pop, but with a foresighted eye on what that would sound like for the next 10 years) and This World of Water (reminds me of XTC a lot..it is a bit nuts!). They strike me as a pop band that wasn't popular, like Denim. I have little doubt that they'd have been bigger if they'd been active in the last 5-6 years than they actually were! The bloke out of Metronomy probably loves them.
This is my favourite Andy-Partridge-mental-breakdown song which vaguely reminds me of some of their weird noises: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypAoSwOuhwU
What?! They played all those? Did they say why? They were great, well it was really just Tony Mansfield (look him up). I was really taken with them at school as Mansfield used to wear a boiler suit on TOTP. No, they weren't really popular with only really Living By Numbers being a "hit". They were really early pioneers of using effects on their vocals. Brilliant.
All you SISU morons who claim ACL couldn't organise a ***** in a brewery, eat your words ! THIS is why SISU are sooooo desperate to get their hands on the Ricoh.
ACL stand firm - no deals with crooks !!!!! No way does ACL need twopencehalfpenny rent from SISU when they can fill the Ricoh with their own events - 4 concerts a year is probably worth more than 20 x SISU's rent "offer/demand". :claping hands::claping hands::claping hands:
Nothing wrong with itJust a shame it was allowed to be built in a crap place!

Just listening to wave 105 in the south, the dj went to the gig the other night, he advised never ever go to the Ricoh for a gig, they couldn't organize the proverbial in a brewery
Just relaying what he said on the radio pal, no need to have a baby about itMust be true then.
But then again, what do southerners know about the north.

This entire 'I've found a person who likes it so it's good' 'no, here's a person who hates it so it's bad' crap is the kind of logic that a primary school child would be embarrassed by. Jesus Christ, people.
