actually pissed about that. All the talk of starting well and it’s another downer of a start.

Both our CB’s look like liabilities. Allen is a waste of space

Not looking promising

It’s one game

Absolutely the manager stopped our momentum straight off there.

I thought this. And i can't recall a time where he's done this before, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Will all the backroom staff, could it be a case of too many cooks spoil the broth? Not bedwetting btw, defeats happen, just never known Robins to change it when we get on top

Lack of chances created is a problem - we never got the offensive players in the game at all.

Thought we played the sort of football where we will win more than lose. Goal definitely against the run of play. Losing the first game you can lose confidence if not careful, but we move on.

Dovin should do better, end of.
The entire team stayed back and didn't challenge the shot..surprised Bidwell didn't do anything...Allen was also pedestrian. Dovin should have done better..it wasn't a rocket

It is what it is. Stoke still have a wage budget twice as ours. They aren't the mugs people made out.

Referee spent 90 minutes deciding to give them whatever they wanted. It was like he was told by the police not to give anything to us as they'd spend the day smashing up their own town like last Saturday.

Midfield was poor but Sheaf will be back and it will open eyes to the importance of an extra addition.

Rudi not quite the genius he's been in pre-season and Torp was w

Shite first half, better 2nd, should of had a pen, gave a way a shite goal.

on to the next game
Didn't think it was pen myself.

Really shit result, let's hope this loghts a fire under them and we get a very good reaction vs Oxford. I had a feeling this would be 1-0 Stoke given how excited we were foe the new season, shows what years of being a ccfc fan can do to your mind 😂

Last season the midfield/defence issue was clear to see and it's not been addressed.

Allen in the starting 11 today was big red flag. Not going to criticise him as I just don't think he's good enough for the level we are aiming for - that's on MR for picking him and/or Doug for not ensuring a CM was brought in before the season started.

If they are serious about top 6 they need a couple more signings through the door, and to get their arses into gear ASAP. We can't sleepwalk through the first 1/3 of the season like we did last year. Gelling/work in progress isn't an excuse now.

If we had played well but lost to a lucky goal it wouldn't really worry me, but the lacklustre performance has the same feel as the start and end of last season.

Awful first half. Better second half but 1 shot on target with that strike force is poor. Allen & Torp were absolutely shocking.

MR failed to make subs when needed last season and then today we’re really on top with momentum and he makes 3 subs. Madness.

Thought we just played with a lack of urgency. Poor final decisions. At least we stamped ourselves on it a bit better 2nd half. Van Ewijk was our best player by a mile. I think Kitching and Binks will be our long term cb pairing.
Binks was at fault for the goal. He came across to the right to make a challenge he didn't need to which left bidwell next to Thomas

This was on MR. Poor lineup to start the game. EMC can only play from the bench. Wright to start the next match. Allen and Torp need to be dropped. Sheaf/Eccles and Palmer or Lati must start. We need another CM for sure.
Yeah, you're right. Based on the 62 mins EMC was on the field in this one, single game, we have to accept for the rest of the season, he can only play from the bench.

🙄

Wouldn't have given us anything anyway. 27 minutes until our first free kick.

The yellow on Binks 3 minutes after their player stopped a counter attack was borderline hilarious.

I disagree we need to sell him before the end of the window

Thomas' passing was absolutely shocking today

I really rate the lad, but just how many times was his distribution awful?

After having a much more competitive pre season to start the season so lack lustre is disappointing, but Norwich have just lost at Oxford so we're in good company, I don't think Allen should be starting for us ever so the squad still needs more depth

Not a good start at all too many players just not at the races for whatever reason. The starting line up I have no arguments over and it’s one several people would have picked beforehand. For me if there’s any criticism of MR it’s making his subs at the wrong time today. I felt we were getting on top and building momentum when the 3 come on. Emc had started getting at his man and simms didn’t do too much wrong. You could have argued for 1 sub at that point in Eccles for Torp but it didn’t need 3 and killed our momentum a bit whilst the subs adapted to the game.

Goal was a poor one to concede albeit against run of play the time. Dovin, Binks and bid well not covering themselves in any glory over that.

But let’s not panic we need to be a lot better for sure but we know those players are capable of better than that. An energetic combative cm and dominating cb for me would still be ideal but it’s only the 1st game I’m sure we will kick on.

They can't both play on the left
