Well that’s a good win at a difficult place. Makes the point at Plymouth look good now. I actually thought Eccles was our mom. He seemed to be everywhere. Really pleased with the Simms goal - that’s the natural footballing style we’ve been after. Thomas now also settling and putting in the displays.

One other thing Mark Robins said in the after match interview, he wants to get into the quarter- finals.

Probably one of the reasons why he's been resting players.
There was a big 'but' after he said that, hinting that he would rest players too.
Maidstone have had their "game" against Ipswich, where they got battered (look at stats) but really fluked the win.
A moderate strength side will be more than enough to beat them. Robins will know that.

He pulled up just after he took 2 corners in succession and it appeared that he had pulled something. It looked like he asked to go off, spoke to Robins and then carried on for 5-10 mins up to half time. It was pretty obvious he wouldn’t be coming out for the second half.
Ah ok I clearly didn’t look as closely as you
More than a couple of weeks then
Wow

If Torp is out, we've got Eccles, Lati and Kelly for defensive roles, with O'Hare and Palmer as attacking midfield. If something happens to either of the latter, he could perhaps play Sakamoto in a more central attacking midfield role.

Coventry, United Kingdom, United Kingdom
Preston & WBA:

Collins
MvE Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Eccles Torp
Saka O’Hare Wright
Simms

Maidstone:

Wilson
Lusala Lats Binks Dasilva
Kelly Torp
Tavares Palmer Andrews
Godden

Reckon that’s as much rest as you can get, swap Torp for Eccles at half time/fitness depending.

Not convinced Torp will be fit for either game but that aside think you're right.

Not necessarily true. If it is a calf strain or a hamstring pull (minor) he could have continued for 10 mins or so, but still he out for 2-3 weeks.
Worrying.
If the injury was that bad he wouldn't have played on for 15 minutes

Yeah and we’ve not got much in CM.

After WBA it’s two games then the international break so you’d hope one or two could play. Could really do without both Sheaf and Torp out. Looked so turgid in midfield second half today.

It's actually 3, Rotherham/Watford/FA Cup quarter final (Hull if we lose to Maidstone). Really would be very useful to make sure we're in the quarter final so that Sheaf can be back to face Hull.

But it could still be an injury that keeps him out for numerous weeks despite him playing on.
A professional club are not going to allow someone to keep on playing that long with an injury if it is that bad as they risk worsening it.

He'll be out the Preston game and rested vs Maidstone

I reckon Dasilva has the LB shirt again now.

Also I think Wilson will play the next few league games/until he makes a clanger.

That Maidstone side is very, very weak. Lusala isn't even close to playing currently.

He’s as close as you get without playing arguably :p

He’s been on loan to that level, he’ll be looking for a contract at or around that level when we let him go. Worst case he’s awful and we hook him for MvE early on, but we can’t cover MvE and Thomas who have played more minutes than most without something giving.

I know most won't agree but our defence did well. They hugged and puffed yet didn't get any clear cut chances.
As a defensive unit they did well. We didn't concede, can't complain. I was more referring to holding on to the ball.

I don't remember a point in the 2nd half of when we just tried to hold on to possession. I know that's how Robins likes to play and we're successful at it but those times when it's constantly coming back within 10 seconds.

It's irrelevant now, we won. Great win and an important one. 7 points with the amount of rotation we've had to do is a fantastic return.

It felt planned though to try and get forward quicker but yep another team would take advantage of having so much of the ball

Just skimming the thread as missed the game, but a fair bit of chat about burger.....

...excuse my slightly drunken tangent, but did anyone else get to sample the delights of capn jaspers in Plymouth....
...mighty fine indeed

Think it was Harry Roberts who said when he played for Birmingham and broke his leg, they stuck him on the wing for the last 20 minutes then expected him to drive himself to hospital.
To be fair, Heartlands is that close to St ans he would have got there without making it to fourth gear.

To be fair, Heartlands is that close to St ans he would have got there without making it to fourth gear. Dave Bennet broke his leg on Peter Shiltons head and he played on for 20 minutes before walking off . They built ‘em tough in those days.
