But it's still a better window than most of the championship so far.
Yeah fair enough, I agree that on average we’re doing better than most championship teams so far this window. I just think we need to be a lot better than most teams this window if we’re to get promotion.

I know Saddle can defend himself, and I’m not trying to speak for him, but I don’t think him or anyone else is “panicking”, we’re just saying it’s not been a good transfer window so far as others have claimed. I have hope we’ll get in at least 2-3 signings but I don’t think any of us panicking, just yet.

We've signed four players, paying significant fees for more than one of them. I genuinely do not understand what you are expecting.

I also hope that any signings arrive under the radar to avoid being poached, but with regards to those people that have short memories, I think with the trajectory that the club’s on we should be expecting (or at least hoping for) significant signings.

I don’t think it’s beneficial for us as a fanbase to sit back and expect nothing because “that’s what we’ve been used to”. The reason we’ve been in the doldrums is because we were underfunded and lacked numerous quality players, if we want to be the big club that we all think we are then we have to expect quality signings. I get that we can’t break the bank and sign every player under the sun but surely we should expect a bit more quality coming through the doors than what we’ve had so far this window. We’ll only get to the prem if we aim big.
How do you propose to fund this additional spending having already spent a significant amount on Rudoni etc ?
Would be very interested to see your calculations.

I'd honestly be happy with another player who can play CB/CM similar to Lats, GK and ST. Think then with the youngsters we have a good squad size.

It's 8th July FFS.

Folks saying it's a boring window are used to 10-12 leaving each time. Other than O'Hare, no one that's just left is a loss to the match day squad.

We've spent more on players joining this summer than across SISU's time here. Slightly worried some of us on here got entitled in the space of 12 months.

Collins
Wilson

MvE
Latibeaudiere
Thomas
Binks
Kitching
Bidwell
Da Silva

Sheaf
Eccles
Torp
Rudoni
Palmer
Allen

Sakamoto
Raphael
Simms
Tavares
Wright
EMC

Let that sink in. Apart from RCB, that's two players we own in each position. Add in there's reason to believe we'll add a GK, a CM, a CB and a striker. Chill your tits!

Last summer we started pre-season full of U18s and U21s. Now we've got a month to find a few upgrades and depth options. Not half a first XI. Boring? Nah.

I think the problem is the defence and midfield, when you look at the names of those forwards it looks great but then you look back at the names in midfield and defence and it really doesn’t fill me with confidence.

It’s the exact same defence as last season and personally I think the LB spot needs improving on. Then you get to midfield and realise that 2 of our subs are going to be Palmer and Allen (still not convinced by Eccles starting every single week but hey ho). I know you’re being optimistic about it all, and maybe I’m being too pessimistic, but it’s fine writing down the names of everyone it’s just that when you look at some of those players they’re really just makeweights.

Allen, Palmer, Dasilva, Lati, Kitching (maybe), Raphael (not sure yet), Tavares, none of them are up to this level. We need quality both in the starting 11 and on the bench to gain promotion.

Clueless. Allen part of the team that made the play offs. Unlikely to be even first choice but more than adequate backup. Same with Palmer.

Da Silva, Lati, Kitching all reasonable Championship players. Have all proven they are up to it at this level.

Already covered this with Herts this morning, it’s kicking around somewhere if you want to find it. Nothing is costed properly, just guesswork because at the end of the day this is a forum and I cba to earn a level 5 qualification in accounting to explain my reasoning for a passing comment I made on a Monday morning.

If you think none of them are good enough for the bench in this league then your expectations are a bit ridiculous.

Not enough foreign sounding names , apparently that makes them better .
To be honest I stopped reading when he suggested Eccles isn't up to this level

Clueless, clueless I tell you! 😂 Sorry just made me laugh, had Statler & Waldorf vibes in my head 😂

But anyway, we clearly disagree, it’s fine, it’s a forum. Briefly, I think you’re massively overlooking rotation between quick turnarounds and injuries. Lati can do a job but it’s an okay-ish job, Allen was pretty much non-existent last season, Dasilva is average for this league and Palmer rarely has end product. I think we need much better subs that’s all.

I think some people seriously need to reign in expectations.

We’ve already spent around £7m and are reported to be in for a keeper at £2.5m. That will be without any player sales whatsoever so I can’t see us spending any more after that otherwise it will be very unsustainable. Maybe time for free agents or loan players to cover the gaps but we can’t just keep spending millions…

Just found that response. "Nothing is costed properly" = nothing is costed at all . A level 5 qualification in accounting isn't needed to add up transfer spending .

Kitching, Raphael and Lati I think are alright for this league (although with Raphael we obvs have no idea on yet). However, Allen, Palmer, Tavares and Dasilva are just average, if that, for this league, and if we want promotion we absolutely need better than average.

We’re 2-0 down against Burnley, we bring on Dasilva, Palmer and Allen, I bet the opposition’s shitting themselves…

Allen has been a key player in the team that made the play off final?

Oh come on that’s not fair, you weren’t meant to go back and actually check my post 😉

As for the accountancy thing, I know, I was just pissing around. It’s all just speculation at this stage, we have no idea how much we really have or what Doug plans to invest, only he knows what the plan is. I’m just saying that at its current state I don’t think the team is good enough for promotion. I would absolutely love to be wrong, I would, but my personal belief is that we need better subs and a slightly better starting 11 to gain promotion.

How much more do you think the club should spend in this window bearing in my that there's 4 there that you obviously don't think are good enough on top of a GK ?

Yeah he’s been good for us but last season I thought he was poorer than he previously had been, and he’ll also be 30 in January, not getting any younger? 🤷🏻‍♂️ I just think we can do a bit better, and decent players will want to join us these days seeing how well we’ve done recently. We’re one small step from promotion, just need that extra oomph to get us over the line.

Again . How are you proposing to fund this ?

There's players available on frees that could improve the squad, obviously still a cost involved, a few have already been mentioned on here
They have to want to come here in the first place and we have to be able to match their financial demands. It looks likely that with some of them we can't achieve the latter

Where to start? Oh yes, Allen was pretty much non existent last season! That might have something to do with his illness and then the injury from when the Sheffield Wednesday player broke his jaw was it?

Dasilva came on against Man United and looked really dangerous.

I agree the current team and squad is probably not good enough for promotion although only time will tell. But that doesn't mean that we can just go out and buy a load more £5million players.
