Summer transfer window 2024 (19 Viewers)

Plus... It could be conceivable that Olypiacos paid Forest a loan fee in excess of what they bought Stamenic for, thus actually making a short term profit on actually buying a player!!!

Bigger picture, don't read the profit, check the PSR implications. Forest sign player while close to PSR. Loan out to owners other club for fee. How much was that fee ? Helps loaning club keep within PSR. Seems very similar to the reported transfers for overvaluations. Olympiakos take all the financial risk and return player at end of loan with Forest probably out of trouble by then. And while the agreement is for a season loan, what chance is there of him returning early ?

Not the right criteria I know but I quite like the club bringing players in over the whole transfer window. From a fans perspective it keeps us living in hope for that next great exciting piece of the jigsaw throughout July and Aug.

imagine how dull it would be if we announce 2 tonight, 1 tomorrow and then say that’s it our business is done for this window.

Robins would love it, it would be optimal for the team, but selfishly as a fan it would make the summer far less interesting !

The squad is coming along nicely tbf

Collins/Wilson
MVE/Burroughs
Thomas/Lati
Kitching/Binks
Bidwell/Dasilva
Sheaf/Allen
Eccles/Torp
Rudoni/Palmer
Sakamoto/Raphael
Simms/Godden
Wright/EMC

Obviously there are a few in there who probably won't be here come the start of the season, but it feels like just finishing touches needed rather than major surgery.

I know there is an obsession with former Loan players in general. However, do you think MR might be tempted to offer Liam Walsh a 2 year (or 1+1) deal? Arguably he would have Torp, Sheaf & Eccles in front of him, competing with Allen to be 4th/5th CM. This is a role that would get 20 starts max you would think.
Is peak Walsh better than Browne over 20 starts? I think it is close.

Is that an actual question?

I know what you mean but it’s every name after the slash that worries me (bar Torp and EMC). Just got absolutely no real quality in reserve for when we need it, particularly at LB, feel like we’re really running on empty in that department and same for midfield if Sheaf gets injured.

If the risk financially was small enough I'd half be tempted. I know we have moved on miles since he was with us but Walsh is genuinely one of my favourite players I've seen for us in decades. Would be a pure nostalgia signing but imagine if we could get him fit and firing.

He clearly can complete at this level (scored against us) just his body letting him down unfortunately.

Binks is good. Lati and Palmer are decent backups.

Ideally we’d recruit a keeper, LB, CM, RW, ST yeah but if we get 3/5 we’re in a good place I think.

You don't think Torp, Palmer and Binks are good enough? Or EMC or Raphael, neither of whom we have seen play for us yet?
And, the squad is far from complete.

Yeah Binks is good tbf but I’m not convinced by Palmer, he does a lot that looks good but he rarely actually contributes to goal involvements.

But yeah if we get a quality GK, LB and CM then I think we’ll be set to go.

I said “bar Torp and EMC” in my previous comment but missed Binks tbf, those 3 are sound of course but absolutely no idea how good Raphael will be so can’t comment yet. It’s the CM, GK, LB and maybe ST areas that concern me in terms of depth.

Which number GIMOC redemption arc are we on now?

I think it would be all hail should Doyle and a new striker sign this week.

Walsh has a terrible injury record and has never performed consistently well in the Championship. No way should we be going there notwithstanding how good he was for us in League 1.

Hoping for Doyle, Camara, ST, CM this week. No pressure Doug. Then a GK in before the season starts. Keep O’Hare too why not?

GK/Collins
MvE/Camara
Thomas/Doyle/Lats
Binks/Kitching
Bidwell/Dasilva
Sheaf/Eccles
CM/Torp/Allen
Rudoni/O’Hare
Saka/Rodriguez
Simms/ST
Wright/EMC

Let the others go and that’s 24 plus a couple of kids if needed here and there. We used 26 last season including Gus and the likes of Howley, Andrews and Dausch.
