Really not sure on BTA.
Why not? What’s not to like? He’s a totally different option to what we have, pace to burn and trickery. Proven goal scorer at this level. To have Simms, Wright and Thomas-Asante as forward options is a very healthy position to be in. You could even argue that it would give us the best forwards unit in the division..

Me neither - my in laws are baggies and I live over here. My father In law just laughed and said you can have him.

He’s just quick - finishing is erratic at best

He has a better shot conversion rate than Simms and only scored 2 goals less in the Championship season.

If it’s true it gives us a different option up top over Simms and something different from the bench. For a 2nd/3rd choice striker I really don’t see us getting much better than that and he would be a massive upgrade on Godden.

As a bonus on the side he always seems to play very well playing against us.

Agree.
However on reflection, is he better option than Godden now, yes. Will he offer impact, yes. Will he be happy to be 2nd fiddle - guess so - that’s key.

would have liked someone with more growth - but more I’ve thought , more makes sense.

You'd hope he'd be confident enough he thought he could push for a first team place.

Had thought he was older than 25 tbh. If we're worried about value then if he holds up and plays well, that value ain't going to go down during any contract.

Assuming now this striker (BTA) is signing this week and maybe Dovin, we'll get one today or tomorrow? Sure the itks said it was definitely this week.

I hadnt realised that the terms of Cameron Archers transfer to Sheffield United, meant Villa had to buy him back when they were relegated .Minus a hefty loan fee.
Archer on loan would give us some attack.

I imagine Simms shot conversion % was dragged down with his disappointing 2023 compared to an electric 2024.

I guess Asante would be ‘proven’ Championship quality that is affordable and happy to not be first choice.

I’d genuinely rather lose Godden and have no back up than keep him. The guy doesn’t seem to want to be here and he’s so far past it at this level. I’d rather play Haji as ST and EMC on the wing if we have to rather than keep Godden.
BTA scores once every 4 games, Godden in the championship is 1 in just under 3 games.

we’re throwing stupid money away if we pay anymore than a couple of million for him, I’d rather have that Belgian guy for 1.2m

we need to replace Godden- But BTA isn’t the answer

The difference is BTA is 7 years younger, quicker, plays off the shoulder, good for stretching defences.

As a backup looking at goalscoring record isnt the be all and end all.

Can’t see anyone coming in this week now

I have had it on good authority that no strikers first team or under 21's are expected through the door this week 😜

What level of player do they think is going to come and sit behind Simms and potentially Wright?
Well quite... Also i'm sure he'll fancy himself to push for starts which is preferable to bringing in someone who will be fully aware they have no chance.
