BTA scores once every 4 games, Godden in the championship is 1 in just under 3 games.

we’re throwing stupid money away if we pay anymore than a couple of million for him, I’d rather have that Belgian guy for 1.2m

we need to replace Godden- But BTA isn’t the answer
It’s not just about the goals though, there’s a reason we were bringing on Tavares over Godden at the end of the season.

For a second choice striker he would be more than good enough. Who do you genuinely think we could attract for this role instead?
Again - I’d rather have that Belgian guy that was linked. Never seen him play like - it’s a case of not paying more than 2m for BTA, I’d expect WBA to want a bit more than that and he’s just not worth it

11 goals in 39 championship appearances last year, and you think he’s a 2 million pound player 😂

If he’s coming in as a back up striker with those figures that’s a real positive

You'd rather spunk money on a random Belgian that nobody has ever seen play than someone who has actually scored in this league?

I wouldn't be shocked with any name or any fee paid. I just think with us at the minute its best to wait to see the player at Ryton before we jump on names or fees. Club will be doing deals all the time we dont want to but have to be patient.

And only scored 7 in 33 the season before, He’s erratic, not a great player, he’s had one good season - not unlike Conor Chaplin who also scored 14 goals last season, Id be pretty confident in saying he doesn’t hit 10 goals if he comes to us.

to be honest I’d rather just keep Wright as second striker and if needed I’m sure EMC can play up front if needed.

Who’s 21 and costs just under 1m the risk is lower and there’s room for development. Yeah - like I said if BTA is low cost, I’d go for it. Just expecting us to have to pay a significant amount for someone who’s just not worth it

Poor take.

Godden offers absolutely nothing at this level now.

BTA has a decent goals per minute and can actually take on a man. He would be far superior to Godden.

Your missing the point, which is Godden's legs have gone, he's now slower than a snail towing a caravan with the handbrake on. Godden has been a great player for us but needs to be moved on ASAP.
We aren't arguing who has the best strike rate, that's now irrelevant.

BTA seems like a decent striking option for when Simms needs a rest or picks up an injury, And he's certainly a good option if we are chasing a game and go 2 up front.
Him and Simms together would be a right handful.

Godden's still a good finisher, still think with the right team he could get double figures in the Championship, easy but... our system hasn't suited him at all since maybe the first season we came up, so he'll be in the right place for a goal but you won't see much else from him.

I didn’t say Asante was the answer, I just said I’d rather chuck Godden than keep him. I don’t mind whoever we get in but I think almost anything is better than Godden, he’s more interested in golf than us and he’s slow as fuck.

Isnt it a bit unsafe to get rid of Godden before getting in the replacement? We could end up with nobody and be worse off

Not really. As others have stated, we could get by without him. But highly unlikely we wouldn't bring anyone in if he were to leave.

Fair points. Just concerned about letting someone go before we have an improvement in

Is it wages we need to free up first or cash from a nominal fee?

Doubt it's either to be honest. Wages will be repurposed elsewhere but it's simply the fact we've out grown him now and/or he is tailing off. He just isn't required.

EMC can cover the left with Haji moving into the middle.

Rudoni can cover the right. Raphael both sides, I think.

Leaves Tavares and Obikwu as emergency back-up options.

Tavares & Obikwu? Geezus that'd have to a really big emergency

Think it's to do with FFP or year end or some shit. Something financial anyway
