But surely that’s over his entire time with us. There’s no way he started 25 games as CF for us last year. For me, towards the end of last year he was showing real progress. Comparing his time from yesteryear is misleading. For example Gyokeres at Swansea developed and improved.

No that’s just last season.

Wait. Are you talking about Tavares?

Im talking about Godden.

Looking at the squad today we are only 3-4 injuries away from being threadbare. Hopefully this is a message to Doug to get some more quality into this squad. As much as Obikwu is developing we cannot rely on him to be back up to Simms this season

Im sure there’s stuff happening in the background but a lot of deals are never totally straightforward. Clubs maybe need replacements in before letting players go, Prem clubs don’t let a lot of the better loans go out until later in window etc etc. we’ve done some good early business but might have to be patient for final touches

Just a thought about the scouts at stevenage and Simms absence. Thinking Brentford if Toney leaves would Simms be an option for them?
Probably overthinking it. We would want a shit load of money and a replacement already lined up before if it happened. Can't see it personally

One of the things I love about this forum is how quickly we go from one extreme to another.

It was only a few months ago that Simms was absolutely useless and we desperately needed to offload him in the summer even if we had to give him away as he was so bad surely nobody would pay a fee.

Now there's a panic he's about to be sold and the season will be over before it's started.

Filip Marchwinski; a player I mentioned a few months ago has joined Lecce for about £2.5 mill.

No one wants to lose a game of football, pre-season or not (it's not like we've lost every game) but it is pre-season, a time to get more minutes in the legs and more time for the new lads to gel with the rest of the squad, it's definitely not doom and gloom! the likes of Sheaf, Simms and Wright hopefully they will be back for the start of the season which I think they will.

Today was probably a good thing, that'll help us grow as a team. This loss coupled with the injuries will undoubtedly send a signal to DK that we need at least 3-4 more bodies through the door, I suspect the players we've identified to come in that'll accelerate now, I hope to see a couple in next week.

I can see frustration getting ramped up on here next week if we don't get a sense of signings incoming. It will also get worse if those 5 out are not seen at least doing some work at ryton during the week. I don't think the club are sleep walking into the season behind the scenes, but it definitely puts the fans on edge when the silence is deafening.

Might be wise to stay off the site for a few days as i cant see it being fun unless we see movement.

Man city lost 4-3 to Celtic. Does that mean they struggle this season?

Didn't expect man city to lose that game In fairness lol but it don't really mean anything.

Like I said it's not all doom and gloom mate, a loss will show what still needs working on, it also shows we need some more players so we can keep a sustained push for promotion, I'm certainly not worried

It's just a pre season friendly . Man City had virtually all their first team missing . We had many players missing , no need to panic.

We just need some positive news from the club about the injuries even if it is hope to welcome a couple back into the squad on Tuesday. Missing today just a precaution etc

But to me it doesn’t. Friendlies mean nothing, just minutes in legs and fitness. Yes we can try stuff or try players but I’ve seen clubs win every game in pre season and then struggle when it comes to it the crunch and vice versa.

This happens every pre season. Results mean nothing!

That's what I said in my post, we lost but it meant more mins in the legs and the new lads have another game to gel with the existing squad players, yeah it would of been nice to beat a German team but it don't matter.

thats cool. What I have seen on here today and tonnes of bed wetting! It’s silly
Lol I've not been bedwetting on here, I try to take a sensible approach when responding or writing a comment mate lol people on here have their opinions and thoughts about our club and that's fine but at the end of the day we all want the sky blues to succeed and be proud of our team.

It'd be boring as fuck if we all agreed on these threads, it's interesting to see where people think we need strengthening or what they have seen on social media concerning transfer rumors (even tho alot of these rumours are bullshit) but it gives us something to talk about or it's interesting when people post a player who they think would be a good signing for us.

Putting all the bed wetting and social media meltdown after todays result to oneside. It cannot be argued that the fact is we have a very good starting 11 but yet again our squad depth and quality is woefully lacking.

If we are serious about the playoffs or even top two we definately need three or four quality signings to provide squad rotation options.
with a few i juries today we have had to revert to a side made up of the under 21s and that is not going to be good enough especialy after last season and Robins comments regarding squad depth.

we either want to get promoted or we dont and Doug needs to put his money where his mouth is and back Robins

Im hoping we get at least 2 in next week, we have a really good squad of players but ultimately depth is the only thing that can stop us achieving our goal this season, 3-4 players is what we need pal and we are good to go
