You reckon because we have something lined up we've fasttracked it? Otherwise MR would probably keep him until January at least as squad option.
It's been on cards all summer. I believe we've just been waiting for the interested parties to make a move. This weeks antics have just escalated the situation. We will have needed him off the books to make our own moves.

to be honest it’s a disgrace we’re scrambling around on deadline day AGAIN despite apparently learning from our past errors.

Given teams won’t be keen on losing players, or good players on a permanent transfer as there’s not time to replace them

we’ll end up with an 18-20 year old unproven PL castoff instead on loan

Not sure about disgrace ! We’ve obviously been trying to get a CM in, shown by offers for Stamenic and Browne (probably been others) but as has been said 100 times before there’s various factors at play, some deals get done, some don’t, but it’s not for the want of trying by all accounts

We’ve also signed a load of other players; Binks, Rudoni, Dovin, Bassette, Assante and EMC and have improved the squad overall. Also so far kept all key players and have no doubt turned down offers. Most fans of other championship clubs would’ve given their right arm for our summer

I think that is partly true but the time frame was set by Doug …. Premier League within 5 years …

the issue is that some fans want it quicker than that !

All business projections are rolling plans.

Now remind me what year we are at since the start of that five year plan?

Exactly this , one day to find a player we’ve been looking for since hamer left, we need someone who’s ready to slot in now at the levels we need, it’s taken torp this long and he’s still not there yet, bit worrying

There must be a reason loads of deals wait till deadline day. It can’t possibly be due to a collective failure to prepare across all leagues - I’m sure we don’t actually like to make deadline day deals rather than have them done early but that’s just the way it goes right?

Can’t buy someone if another team won’t sell

The accumulation of lots of work, much of it failed and the need to just get the job done before the deadline.

For the those muppets complaining about how poor the window has been...

Apart from all the new arrivals that have come, as the Browne and Stamenic sagas illustrate it is a highly competitive world out there with a lot of stakeholders - the player, his agent, the selling club, other clubs interested in the player (particularly if he is any good). Robins' shopping list will not be a long one so if he misses out then there is not a long list of alternatives. And the variables in the contract are many with big arguments over the key clauses.

Hull must have been royally pissed off when we nicked BTA. That is the sort of world we are operating in. And the market is now huge - players coming from all over the shop.

Don't envy them mysef

Has to be wer‘e missing out on this midfielder we need because we won’t pay the wages they want, id Be very surprised if we found another hamer again, he was more or less straight at it, that’s what we need now, someone who can come straight in and at the level we need, going to struggle on our wage budget ?
