I think you need to look at USskyblues posts regarding the no 2.
He suggests that Robins nearly hired Ramsey and the club pulled the plug.
@Sky Blue Pete, any chance you can ask Doug about this tonight and also ask he also pulled the plug on signing Matty James - both are similar rumours, it would be good to know if Mark Robins had support to sign new staff or players.

Who owns CCFC and all its debts? It's King. He's invested one way or the other if he's loaning the club money to sustain itself - the loans aren't guaranteed.

A bad season this year could cost us a lot of money. We have Sheaf entering the final year of his contract, players like Wright, Simms, MVE whose values are decreased if we're underperforming, so even if it doesn't cost him personally, it impacts the value of the asset that is CCFC.

Relegation would be a disaster and we can cockily say we're too good to get sucked into it, but I'm sure that's how B'ham fans felt last year.

That's true. But it's also true that the 45 million spent on the side didn't come from his own pocket.

It would be great to get clarification but I'd be amazed if we get any.

Realistically I don't think he's going to discuss signings or appointments that didn't happen. Wouldn't be very professional.

I think the issue is; we had a proven Championship manager head coach (widely acknowledged as one of the best in the league) to give lowered expectations to for the rest of this season.

Now we’re lowering our expectations on a wing and a fuckingprayer.

I agree with both of you that’s it’s highly unlikely Doug answers but I think it’s worth asking as it builds a picture of what support Robins had and to put the pressure on DK (I.e did give Robins his full support, if not why not, etc).

Well, they’re lower as the new man inherits the previous one’s squad and staff and changes will take time to be seen for better or worse.

Exactly, which would be an acknowledgement that Robins himself thought the new structure had been a failure. Given the timing of this, it's likely that the club hierarchy had at least thought about MR's future at this point because our form was even worse back then.

IIRC, at the time that some ITKs (maybe @Saddlebrains) reported that it was the other way round that the #2 was being foisted on MR and MR resisted. So there is some contradictory information out there. If this has been clarified, please correct me because I'm not 100% on this.

People look at the job he’s done as a whole and it’s certainly one of the best in the EFL, alongside Ainsworth at Wycombe and Jones at Jones at Luton for a time.

I don’t think he’d be considered a top 6 manager last season. It’s fair to say that McKenna, Farke, Wagner, Corberan, Mescara and Martin are all better managers. They just didn’t have the longevity that MR had.

Unpopular opinion, but I don’t think MR does better at another club. We were his best chance to be a Premiership manager imo.

Not liking this, I thought King had somebody lined up. Seems, according to the rumours today that's not the case.
It means all these 70 odd applicants are out of work, and I bet almost all of them we wouldn't want.

Would be hard to squeeze them all in the dugout for a start

People can apply for jobs if they are in work.

Sorry if i've missed this but do you have your questions list ready? If so what is it?

In your opinion what is the lasting impact that Mark Robins has had on our football club?

Have you been surprised by the huge reaction to his dismissal? If yes how can you avoid this in the future?

What went wrong after giving adi and mark 4 year contracts for them both to no longer be at the club significantly sooner than the end of the 4 years

Personally I am still sad and angry at the decision. Coventry City football club are better than this. Our club is respected for not being like other clubs and that means something. However, I recognise that unlike football supporters owners and managers are not permanent fixtures and so by what metric will you judge the performance of the new manager / head coach

At meetings like this you have said 3 in 5 years in the play offs and a cup run. Is that still the case or will you move the goalposts (scuse the pun) as you appear to have with Mark Robins?

One comment - please don’t let our club become another of the hire and fire brigade. Have some patience and loyalty. Once you find someone who can find solutions to football challenges allow them the time to make a difference

Ok, fair enough.

Can we have anything at all on the future? What philosophy is he looking for from the new man, does he have a shortlist, will he be backed with funds as Robins was etc..

I think stick with the "what went wrong" to try and find out what happened.

Probably need more about the future as well.

Im not sure asking if he's surprised will do much, he will just say no.

First one - question is basically unrelated to your comment about being sad and angry.

Second one - does anyone really think goalposts were moved?

I mean, SISU never had £45m invested in the team and in the Championship, our budget was solidly bottom 3 until King took over. If it was your money on the line, you'd probably be a bit about tetchy about us being 17th after 15 games.
If it was my money I'd definitely be very tetchy about sacking a manager who has a 100% success rate of turning results round at this club, for any of the candidates we're linked with.

Even if it hasn't been a basket case decision, and Doug has thought long and hard, done his research, has good reasoning to believe Robins won't turn it around in his 8th season despite 7 seasons of being consistently brilliant, and has a solid plan to move us to the next level...the timing of it has still created a basket case scenario.

Even if we're not a basket case club again, he's created the façade that we are. The furore from the entire fan base means they'll be a lot less forgiving and behind the new direction. The media swirl has created the illusion of being a basket case club, whether we are one or not. Which will make anyone think twice about coming here.

So even IF we're not a basket case club and Doug isn't completely off his hat rack, he's still created the perception of us being a basket case club, we'll still have the majority of the consequences that a basket case club would have anyway. Making it far less likely for his 'well thought out plan' to succeed. And I wouldn't want to put my £45m investment in that situation.

We’re not a basket case because the owner made one unpopular decision.

The club is in a different place to where it was. Robins’ core of lieutenants is gone, his long term assistant is gone and apparently upset a lot of the newer players along the way. There was no guarantee that MR was going to turn it around, our home record is the worst it’s ever been under MR.

Let’s be frank, if the new manager comes in and we improve, people will forget the unjust sacking of Robins quickly.
