The whole 'defamation' thing is (respectfully) being raised by people that don't really know what they are talking about. "He can't be lying or he would be sued for libel!" People lie all the time, that's why we have laws about it. Very rarely ends up in court. Given that he admitted that they are still negotiating a settlement package all this will be covered off and Robins would have to be really anal to take him to task even assuming it was not substantively true. I suspect the core of his major statements to be founded in truth. I have no doubt he put a positive shine on it.
Isn't it slander? Libel is written.

Tbf whilst he was still there like a grim reaper over their shoulder at every sticky result, I'm not sure it could've worked for them or Robins. In principle a great idea, but in reality when someone has been successful it would've been difficult - especially seeing our reactions the past few days. If we didn't win every game 8-0 there'd be a clamour for him to retake the reins.
Yes, I'm not saying it would have worked either I just thought the question should have been asked.

Very well put. This talk of people getting sued is just more silliness.

King may well have been stretching things and exaggerating the reality, and he sure knows how to choose his words- as you’d expect.. apart from when he essentially revealed that he thinks our coaching staff are garbage 🙈

Still feel dejected and gutted at how this has unfurled and I don’t understand why appointing an assistant manager proved so difficult. This has snowballed into something far bigger than it ever needed to be.

This feels like a return to the dark times of a conveyor belt of shit managers. Robins was the one that completely changed how I felt about the City, from apathy and embarrassment to pride and love.

Despite having a ST, I’m going to really struggle to bring myself to go up again anytime soon. Really gutted.

12 days until the next game. Lots of beer to piss up the wall between now and then. I'm sure it already feels better than Thursday, we'll be itching to get back up in a couple of weeks.

I just can’t see it right now. I have been angry and gutted at the decision since Thursday and even tonight hasn’t helped.

I’d do anything to get MR and AV back on the touch line for us, where they belong.

It would be insanely reckless to make a false accusation against Robins like that in a public forum if you thought there was any chance someone could prove you were lying.

You're not alone in that, but it ain't happening any time soon, so have no choice to accept it. Can't affect anything so we support the team. It's bigger than us, it's bigger than Robins and Adi, it's certainly bigger than King, so we get on board, rinse and repeat. It might seem a little disloyal, to your own beliefs possibly too, but the club is what matters.

What’s not said is just as important to determine what actually happened. King said that no names for Robins Assistant came to his desk (or words to that effect).

Chris Ramsey was interviewed by MR. CR thought it went so well that the next step was a wage negotiation but subsequently got a call, on behalf of the owner, stopping the process, siting poor timing as the reason.

Perhaps the omission in the story tonight was that King had decided in early October that he’d given MR long enough to find an assistant and was considering sacking him back then. Either way.. unless MR’s able to give his side of the story, we’ll never get to weigh up both sides.

Having supported the club for 55+ years I can recall (many years ago) not wanting to go out on a Saturday night if we had lost a game...much to my then girlfriends annoyance,I used to drop her off home at 11pm .Remarkably by that time i usually felt ok and found myself in Mr Georges until 2am kicking out time... loads of the then players would be in there too 👍

I'm not sure I followed this. Are you saying that doing shots with Gus next Saturday will make him feel better?

Nah Gus is popping round to sort out his girlfriend whilst Nick parties in Mr George's 😉🤣

I get what you’re saying. From someone that was at Wembley to watch us lose on Pens to Luton and England to lose to Italy too, this genuinely hurts more.

I remember how shit it was following us before Mark Robins. It was embarrasing to be a Coventry City fan at times. Northampton, Slade, Dowie, Coleman, Peter Reid, Andy Thorn, Bothroyd- gives me shudders.

I think I need some time away from football. The appointment of some of the managers mentioned will tip me over the edge.

Like it or hate it, King gave a pretty open explanation on why he made his decision. Its not hard to follow and if true the conclusion was just a matter of time. Robins was a brilliant manager for us and with Adi they deserve a lot of credit for the success we had. But once that relationship had collapsed and one had to go this outcome became inevitable.

King has to make a big decision now and im sure he has more than a few options open to him. Its a hard job to follow but King will be looking at some top names over the next week or so unless he already knows who he wants that is.

I hate mid-season international breaks, but despite me moaning about the timing of the dismissal last week, I think it's clear that this week off to let the dust settle shows if it was going to happen that it's absolutely right to be now.

You're not the only one feeling that. I'm sure we've all had patches were we just weren't on it. Either glorious things will happen or gates will drop off for a few years. A time will come when you are excited to be a CCFC fan again. What's important is that you look after yourself in the meantime.

Leaving aside all the flannel, we seem to be saying that Robins has gone because of a petty-sounding quarrel with a coach, and an inability to bring in a quality replacement and set up a structure where they could work together. And now we’re buying a lottery ticket to determine the future of the club?

My take on tonight's shenanigans.
DK thinks Robins is clueless without Adi.
He wanted Adi too stay due to the above but when he sacked Adi, Adi probably had a pop at him and isn't welcome back.
Someone was shagging about and Turner got name checked for revealing it.
The current coaches are turd.
MR wouldn't/couldn't find an Assistant.
He has no clue who the next manager will be despite him thinking of getting rid of MR for a while.

Is this accurate or a poor write up of events?

King allegedly said he has no plans for the future.

His deadline for a new appointment is 1st January, and Rhys Carr will still be in charge after the international break.
There is a link to the full forum audio in the article and I would strongly advise that you listen to it (or just the first 5 minutes) and make up your own mind rather than listen to an anonymous idiot like me.

The write up takes a relatively negative slant imho. King had clearly done his research on here/twitter and adjusted his explanation accordingly but...

He believes that our 'deck' is a thing of beauty, that we are all lucky he gave us his fantastic 'deck' and that we should all be greatful to experience it. Even if you take the view that he is a deranged narcissist, he is a human being and we are all fallible. If you are rational about it he is in this for glory (maybe money but probably glory) and rightly or wrongly he genuinely concluded that Robins could no longer deliver that in the absence of Vivesh. It is likely that decision was made in frustration with Robins and he may have been mislead by the ease of his first year and a half of ownership but it feels like he genuinely thought this was the right call.

I would take the comments that he has no plans for the future with a pinch of salt BUT that is what he said. He hopes to have someone in soon but is comfortable with Carr taking the next couple of matches. I think the 1st of January would be a stretch. He wants someone in before the transfer window but he wants them to have time to properly assess the squad before then. Reading between the lines, I think he expects this to be sorted by the next game.

1st of January would match with my way of thinking, which is Thomas Tuchel takes over England and frees up Lee Carsley.

King might as well have waited and sacked Robins just before Christmas if that was his thinking. He obviously didn’t have faith that MR could do it alone and he’s hardly endorsed the existing coaches tonight.

Waiting and tempting relegation is a big issue for him… so he isn’t waiting until January m8

He’s got 70 CV’s to read but yet only tells sky sports that Frank has applied, Frank must have been the only one to tick the box that said his details can be disclosed.
Odd to mention him in the Sky broadcast but not any other candidates he thinks are suitable?
Maybe it’s not worth me applying now as he already has an element of bias and my complete lack of coaching ability would also count against me

DK said worried about relegation but we have 1 more point from the same number of games last year and in his words, we have a better deck!
He didnt set out or was asked what he had done to try and repair that relationship between them, wouldn’t you move heaven and earth to do that having seen what they had collectively achieved before in his short tenure.
Thought he threw the coaching staff under the bus and then realised what he had said and tried to rail back on that and give support realising he : a) needs them right now, b) when he gets a new head coach, he probably has to fire a few and last nights comments could add to the cost in their NDA.

His ownership, his choices and I think he achieved what he wanted from the night and that was to damage the god like status that most had in Mark and see another side to it putting him in a better light from it overall.

The talk of slander or libel is irrelevant, even if not true, all of this is wrapped up in Marks NDA for which he is going to walk away with an immense amount of life changing money and prevents any action unless harmful to his future employment, which it is not.

Time to move on with the next stage and try to be positive about it, me asking questions, making comments or wanting some kind of sense from it doesn’t happen in football, it’s a funny old game which comes with highs and low points, just hoping we are not heading for the latter, we have the deck!, we have the infrastructure and just need the right coach now as the team are good enough to be challenging at the top in this division.

Lets look at it from Marks perspective, before any legally binding settlement agreement has been signed. The other party (King) puts out a number of statements in the public domain about your troubled personal relationships and the circumstances leading to the demise of Adi. And then goes on to talk about your inability not to see your own shortcomings and professionally expose yourself by not appointing someone to help you after Adi left.

I am sure Marks lawyers would represent some of this as professional slander that could create reputational damage and therefore asking for more.
It’s only slander if it’s not true. In that case they’d have a field day but it wouldn’t be part of a settlement agreement. King will most certainly have taken legal advice before the meeting himself on what to say and what not to say.

Robins is well known for his rude persona. He never speaks to stretcher bearers and the like. Maybe word is out in the football world and people don't like him. Maybe Adi and Mark fell out, because the players responded to Adi more and Mark's ego couldn't take it?

No mention of a deadline to appoint a new head coach. He did say one of the reasons behind the timing of sacking MR was to give the new guy a chance to assess the squad before the January window

Isn't it as simple as sky specifically asking about Lampard...

I'm sure if he was asked about MMJ applying he would say yes too don't worry 😉

because that’s what I was told after the game

the fact the club kept it quiet for so long showed the magnitude of the injury and even in tats words. he felt lucky as he thought it was a lot worse than what materialised

people can jump down my throat all they want but the ones that do are the ones now saying how great king done tonight

king has been no different to me.
He aired things tonight that if I posted on here would get pelters for doing

pure hypocrisy by many on here

What??
Apologies if I missed anything revealing about U Gimoc, but King owns the fucking football club he can say and do anything he likes about the revelations in his own way. Where as you are what to the football club? What's Ur affiliation to it apart from being a supporter and /or trying to rock the boat ?

No…

The owner trusted the package of MR and AV to take us forward. MR terminated that and chose a new structure of coaches that didn’t seem to have the same quality for the players. The results have slumped and without quality coaches to support MR and the team, his position became untenable.

The results themselves could justify a change in management if we’re honest with ourselves.
