But if he doesn't then surely the will get sacked. We can't keep not scoring every week.I admire your optimise Otis but a lot of your points are taken out of the context of how repetitive the issue caused by playing the defensive midfielders is. It was already evident at Newport and then compounded against Yeovil. Since then we've also had Chesterfield, Barnet, Accrington, FGR, Colchester where we keep on repeating the same painfully obvious mistake against negative teams. That's half our games now. I was already talking about it at the end of August, did a full dissection of the issues it was causing after Carlisle in September: Our defence. It's 2 months and a third of the season he's had to fix it and yet his post match comments yesterday are "We have had the conversations this week. We have worked on positionings a lot and every little thing that you can tweak but it will not come over night." Every little thing you can tweak except the glaringly obvious half a pitch between our strikers and central midfield. He clearly isn't going to address it, in fact it doesn't even seem to be on his radar and that's what is causing me the doom and gloom.
"The lads are the ones who have got to put it right, and they will because I have got faith in them. " No Robins, it's you who has to put it right.
You're not going to get much entertainment in League Two unfortunately.I was bored yesterday and frustrated. It's supposed to be entertainment not pain.
If I want pain I can book a dentis appointment every Saturday afternoon or go shopping with my wife and mother in law.
But they do sometimes go in!Not if you are trying to whack it in from 30 yards out having a pot shot.
What's the difference, given that the chance of something happening ranges from zero to 100%?Not really.

I think Luton fans are very happy at the moment.

Thing is, the gaps only 5 now but if we don't pull our fingers out soon, inevitably others will.
Just curious as to what defines a "chance". That Nazon shot could have taken a deflection and gone in.Watch the games back and tell me. A shot from Nazon with 5 players standing directly in front of him from 40 yards isn't really a "chance".
I said it about 5 games ago but nobody was interested, give it about 3 more games of Robins doing the same and people will see differently.

Couldn't agree moreYes it could, but 90 times out of 100 it isn't going to be a goal. It makes the shot stat look good though but never actually threatens them and the opposition would take limiting us to shooting from 40 yards through 4 players all day long.
I was looking at the ESPN stats, nazon has had 24 shots since he last scored, Jones has had 34 shots since his last goal against Port Vale.Agree. Our return from our strikers is possible poor, Nazon apart. Biamou, Beavon and McNulty are all failing to hit the net. We are having loads of shots, but most are from distance and we are not creating clear cut chances for our strike Was it just two yesterday?

Robins is a good manager I feel and I do think he will turn this around. If he IS sacked however, whoever takes over would find himself in a very good position at the right end of the table and just a couple of wins away from being right in the mix for the automatics.
No, I am aware of that. It is feasibly possible to be just two wins and next week we play Luton. Automatically gain three points on them with a win.Whilst I agree that it is not all doom and gloom, and I've always thought that good teams were based on a good defence (which we have apart from Burge), I have to take issue with your statement that we are just a couple of wins away from the auto spots. People who say things like that always make the mistake of assuming the teams above us will pick up no points while we are enjoying our two wins. In reality, we are now actually more like 3 or 4 wins away from the automatic spots.
Has Robins had a change of philosophy this season? During his first spell and for most games when he arrived last season we played slick, fast flowing football..
I just find it a weird that we are so bad, that Beavon, Biamou and McNulty are so crap, that Doyle is rubbish and our keeper isn't good enough and the formation and tactics are all wrong, but yet we have only let 8 goals in, in 15 games and are just 1 point from the okay off positions.
The way the talk is on here I would have had us down as 12 points adrift at the bottom of the table.
It's no good having the best defence in the league if your not winning games !!!Nice thread Otis
Some good points in here definitely. Yesterdays game really had 0-0 or at best 1-0 to us nailed all over it. Yes we failed to unlock them enough but lets not forget it was very tense for long spells in the first half, with both teams cancelling each other out. A different game to Tuesday.
I agree a few tweaks are needed to rectify this horrible goalless run, but surely it has to mainly come from the strikers. I’ve seen suggestions to drop the holding midfield, and also to overlap the wingbacks more - sure that would offer more attacking options, but it would also scupper our near perfect defence! Think how many times Doyle and Kelly have pressed and picked up loose balls in the defensive third. Without that, we’d certainly be facing more attacking threats.
For me, Mcnulty needed to smash that one chance home yesterday. It was tedious finding a gap in Colchester defence, they set up chiefly to block the shots, knowing that Jones and Nazon will both shoot from 18 yards+. They even invited us on the wings again and again, mainly to keep bodies blocking direct shots. When we finally unlocked them, Mcnulty fluffed the chance. He’s GOT to finish those.

but no goals in 4 is the start of a trend that will see us slip right down the table if it's not sorted. Keeping clean sheets is of no use if you're not scoring.
I'm normally fairly optimistic but this is a worrying rut we've gotten into.
But they do sometimes go in!

How big's your shed? How much was it?Positives on the pitch - the fitness level of Nazon is improving. 3-4 weeks ago he couldn't do 90 minutes without cramping up/ losing interest/ falling asleep.
Ryan Haynes - nice to see him back and could have had a couple of goals yesterday.
I got a shed off ebay yesterday really cheap.

Fans want to be entertained , especially when playing at home !!!
The Leeds team of old were boring and defensive but kept winning games and they had some quality player's.
12' x10' £65 second hand. brilliant. Probably fall apart after 6 months .How big's your shed? How much was it?
