Question, when Britain joined the EU was the public given a chance on whether to join or not?

Every government elected and re-elected in my lifetime has done so with a manifesto of maintaining and/or increasing ties with the EU. So it depends on how you look at it. Have we had a referendum? No. Have we elected successive governments with a mandate to maintain membership of the EU as it evolves? Yes.

Whilst you are right...there was never any real alternative so in/out was never a real issue for those casting their vote

I'm not sure that 'evolves' is the right word to use. 'Dragged towards becoming a United States of Europe by some power crazy people' seems closer to the truth.

Evolution is not definitely towards a good place, ever heard of extinction.

Did his manifesto say that then?

I’ll help Tony out as his recall of political events is not exactly trustworthy.

Yes it did. Also to immediately abolish the House of Lords, disarm nuclear weapons and renationalise everything that has already been made private. True socialism described as the longest suicide note in history.

Since then all parties have offered no choice on the subsequent politicisation of the EU - all have drank at the trough and fell in line.

Not me Tony. Many times on here I’ve referred to Michael Foot and labour being the only party ever to have gone on such an agenda. The defeat of course was nothing to to with the Eu campaign directive but the disastrous campaign in general.

Foot was a brilliant academic but leadership came far to late for him. Wedgewood Benn was perceived to be pulling all the strings and given his “most dangerous man in Britain” tag it was an inevitable outcome.

In fact without the obstinate Dennis Healey the Labour Party would have vanished as a mainstream party.

Who would that be? I think it easier to point to power crazy egoists in the leave camp. It is full of them. You know who they are. They are on LBC, in the Express or Mail every day in some form or in the Tory party waiting for May to fall and seize their chance for the big time.

Looks like George Soros 'Open Society Foundation' across Europe is about to have competition.

'Soros Brilliant, But Evil': Bannon to Rival Open Society Foundations in Europe

Bannon is the nearest we have to a prominent Nazi. He ran Breitbart as a propaganda tool and told the Russian tool how to win the US election by sticking to the same populist BS and targeting the right areas ( possibly based on the hacked Democratic strategies - not proved, but otherwise amazingly good timing and targeting). Financed by the richest people in the world to make blue collar people angry enough to scupper their own futures.

"Who would that be?" You tell me, Mart. You seem to know more about the EU than many on here. Who in the EU has advocated closer political union? There must be many examples of such. In my opinion, that is just a euphemism for a United States of Europe.

And George Soros funded Antifa who stage violent protest against Jordan Peterson on one of his speech tours and shouted 'Burn the place with him in it'. All because he has differing views from them. So much for freedom of speech huh? The same group that hijacked a seminar at Kings College with Yaron Brook (who's Jewish) and Sargon of Akkad (who's a liberal). Again all because differing views. Wait isn't what Antifa is doing is banning free speech? Isn't that what Fascist/Nazis do? So much for Antifa calling themselves antifascist.

Plus George Soros the guy that confiscated property from the Jews during the holocaust. He mentioned in an interview the confiscation was easy.

This same guy told Viktor Orban to have more migrants come into Hungary (regardless if they are illegal/criminals).

Told the E.U to increase their debt and aswell as more migrants.

In short no borders.

And finally he mentioned that you need mayhem and chaos in order to make money and profit from it.

Boy! such a cool dude (not).

Bullshit. From beginning to end. He didn’t order any such thing. And he was a 15 year old schoolboy when the war ended. Breitbart.

Your Breitbart ( Bannon ) bullshit does not stack up. The Nazis hate Jews, so it is not surprising that they attack Soros. Orban is a fascist who with his corrupt family controls Hungary and most of the Hungarian media.

Fact check:

Why the conspiracy theories about George Soros don’t stack up

In your opinion. Depends on which newspapers you read and which internet news sources you use. That is where you get your opinions from.

It might be because many of them keep, & are afforded, a much lower profile by people like yourself

Good god man! Can you not see that British (I can't much speak for other countries) mainstream parties do exactly what you are talking about? Spout populist bollocks just to win votes & once in power do largely what the hell they like. Things they do deliver on usually impact in some way they have not told us about...so don't let us pretend ANY of the protagonists in the run up to AND post Brexit referendum are any different!

My Breitbart Bannon? He's got nothing to do with me.

I never said he did. I was referring to the hard right bullshit ( including from Breitbart built up by Bannon ) designed to turn people against the liberal democracy that Soros supports. Bannon is trying to interfere in the EU elections with the aim of getting 30% of the seats for right wing populists. The same friends of Brexit who claim that the EU is undemocratic. Soros admitted accompanying fascists as a 13 year old in his false identity as a god son of a fascist. God sons being a Christian tradition and therefore saving his life through disguise. The fascists of today accuse him of ambitions to take over the world. The old Nazi version of the evil Jewish financier. In reality it is Bannon that has transnational ambition and who talks about spreading „economic nationalism“ through populism ( aimed at white blue collar workers) which smacks of National Socialist ideas and tactics. He called people like Tommy Robinson the backbone of Britain. Bannon claims to be a street fighter ( millionaire, ex Goldman Sachs and financed for his political aims by the richest people in America), which is probably why he admires a known thug like Robinson.

More leading people up the garden path to follow shortly. He is recruiting for his Brussels office.

Are you seriously comparing British mainstream parties with Bannon’s movement? Yes they lie, they exaggerate, but nothing like Breitbart, Bannon, Trump and co..

Bannon and Trump have nothing but contempt for people like May, who whatever you may think of her, is in an unenviable position of trying to polish the Brexit turd. She is making U turns, not because she is a Trumpian liar or deliberately set out to lead people up the garden path like Banks and Farage, but because Brexit cannot be delivered without some people taking a hit. It is insulting and shows how the tactic of flooding the media with disinformation is working. You are a classic example. Trump and co lie. May fibs. You claim they all the same.

No they are not all the same. The media are also not all the same. The tactic is that you cannot trust anyone anymore. It is obviously working.

Well look what I found.

I cannot see that clip here, but I can get the transcript and I can see the interview on far right sites. I assume it is edited to take it out of context - whatever it is. But, he on the clips I have seen he says his experience as 13/14 years old formed his character. I can understand why he is pushing against the far right and why they hate him. They always mention his jewishness ( as a 'race' ) and that he is an atheist ( to wind up the relgious Americans ).

Soros comes across in it as greedy, manipulative, ruthless and arrogant - he makes Donald Trump look like a local church vicar

YOU are seriously comparing them! And yes so was I. Just a question of shifting context and scales...but they are all as bad as each other.

You cite me as a classic example...just because you believe that I believe & trust what those you disapprove of say. Well knock your rantings firmly on the head you maniac! Your comments on this thread are generally in complete denial about anything viewed negatively by others concerning the EU.

That puts you in pretty much the same "nutter" box as those you appear to despise...just the opposite side of the same box!!!
