The Kase(y) for Palmer (3 Viewers)

For me, he is now a redundant member of the squad.

We all know he's all fart no poo anyway but in a 433 he just doesn't fit in. Doesn't have the stamina for the box to box role required let alone the quality needed to stick a tackle in alongside driving forwards.

Even if we did revert to 4231 for a game and needed a 10, we have Rudoni, EMC and Torp who can all play there.

I seriously think we need to offload Kasey and of course 1 of the keepers

Nope key player for me. Torp seems to injury prone, and like Allen is more of a CM / No.8 than an AM/No.10
EMC is more of a wide man isn't he? I'm sure he's been brought in to play wide.
KP may not be a starter but he's a great option off the bench. Palmer & O'Hare between them scored or assisted nearly 25 goals last season. We've already lost O'Hare.

We are likely not to play with a 10 next year.

Nowhere near being a key player for us. Had 5-7 good games per season. We’ve outgrown him. Thanks for your efforts Kasey but happy for him to leave especially if he is demanding more £££.

Can we just agree that we will play an AM of some sort regardless of what shirt number he plays?

Too many are getting hung up on shirt numbers for some reason, it's not as if the football league have some law that only certain shirt numbers can cross the half way line or go into the oppositions penalty area.

I’ll back track slightly. Palmer can be a useful impact sub until he runs his contract down but I doubt he’ll want that role.

it relates to the position and role on the pitch

I’d keep Palmer. He’s frustrating but he’s bound to have that one season where he tears this league apart at some point!

Yes, we are all well aware of that, but since the dawn of colour TV and the Internet, players have been allowed to be flexible and rotate, so very few teams play a rigid system these days.

We are more likely going to play a midfield 3 of a DM a Box to Box type and an AM, but even these will rotate and not be fixed during a game.

Needs to be more consistent but looking forward to seeing him playing with more dangerous players than godden upfront.

If sold not end of world but would be a few other players I'd rather see leave first of had to put an order on it.

I get the impression that he is one of MRs favourites and wont be going anywhere soon

He obviously rates him enough to use one of his playoff final subs to give him 10 mins to try and win the game.

I think he'll be predominantly an impact player this season, and I can see that working well.

That has to be up there as one of the worst decisions MR has ever made.

Is anyone else interested to see what Palmer can do next season?

I'm part of the Doubting Thomas Society where Palmer is concerned but I just have this weird feeling that he's going to step it up this year.

Palmer last year was making a pass that nobody had the vision to get on the end of - the forward line has improved on last year and I have a feeling he is going to raise his game.

That assist for Torp was filthy.

I maintain that he's really great to watch and has attributes that not many in the league possess despite some of his flaws...

His skillet may suit being brought on when we are struggling to break down a defence, rather than expecting him to be the only creating player in the team for 90 mins week in/week out

Doubt that's the role he sees for himself though

Personally I’d keep Palmer if he’s happy with a squad role.

He’s a bit of a flat track bully IMO. However against 8-9 of the teams in this division that could be very useful.

Huddersfield away last season a great example. He was absolutely superb.

I imagine he’ll have a role to play from the bench this season before being released next summer.

I agree when he's on it he's a pleasure to watch. But it's that final ball, or the key game you need him to perform in where he seems to fall short.

I just have a feeling he might push on and prove me wrong this year

Out of the frying pan....
