I liked the Ricoh when we moved there but now with all that Wasps shit around it I can't stand it.

I think many look back at HR and think back more to the football than the place, I always thought it was a dump (but it was our dump) the atmosphere was sometimes terrible, I may be wrong but I am sure there were games when we played the big teams that they switched the standing areas round as we had so few fans.

Exactly. The Ricoh was built for progression and it is a fine stadium that we should be proud of more so if ccfc owned it admittedly but it is great for the city I live in.

Yes, they said they weren't going to change the seats. But since then Tim Fisher came out and said we have absolutely no intention of staying whatsoever, so if they can afford to do it, it would be daft of Wasps NOT to change the seats.

They can do what they want, its their stadium. Whether they do is probably down to revenue. Although I wouldn't be surprised to see the CCFC replaced with WASPS, they have covered it up with a huge black cloth at the last 2 games.

Personally, out of the two grounds there has been more excitement and atmosphere at "our" old ground than "their" new one. You also said it was a dump. Again, not strictly true. It had certainly seen better days but the building of the new East Stand was an indication of what might have been if we'd stayed there. It's a shame that Richardson hadn't had the foresight to cost replacing the old stands and filling in the corners rather than moving to the Ricoh; an insipid and uninspiring place. Even more so now.

Loved the place. My eldest two both say that their best ever game was against WBA on the day of the tsunami. They were with me behind the goal and went as mental as anyone else when we got the winner right at the end. The atmosphere was electric. They ended up joining in with every song. Not bad considering that they both support other clubs. And the eldest is used to seeing the Glasgow derbies of old.

I didn't care about the stinking toilets or the poor refreshments. Restrictive views? Rarely a game where you couldn't move to a good spot. The location was good. It was a proper ground. Yes when it was bad it WAS bad. But when it was good it was a great place to be. Lots of fond memories I will never forget.

The sad thing is there was a plan to re-build HR, I saw the blue prints and it would have been magnificent, but this old gas works project reared it's head and I think people were sucked into it, I include Richardson in that, and well we are where we now are I'm afraid.

And isn't that all a fan can ask for.

One memory, rather hazy is a midweek game in cup vs. Man City. It was played at lunch(ish) time. It poured down and being under the Sky Blue stand, hundreds forced their way up into the seats.

I'd only sat in the seats at reserve games in the Main stand. Even on some of these games, you'd see future players that were OURS, and there was a good atmosphere.

Isn't life but an album of memories.? Aaah Happy Days.

I think the excitement and atmosphere was more a case of having something to get excited about which hasn't really happened at the Ricoh. If we had moved to the Ricoh and stormed into the premier league I'm sure we would have a different view.

With the benefit of hindsight we should have stayed but how much would it have costed to completely rebuild 3 stands? You would also need to buy up houses behind each of the stands as we were pretty tightly locked in.

I have a vague memory of this being looked into at some point many years ago and it being declared a non starter but I can't really remember anymore than that.

Of course an old and decrepit HR with no rebuilt stands would be a better situation to be in than hte one we are in now.
