Mogga and Presley before him continually talked about only bringing in players with the right DNA. Sadly they seemed to forget about talent, aggression and now fitness. No wonder we are where we are.

One day we will sign the right manager.
Is it 9 permanent managers in 9 years now, plus quite a few temporary ones on top.
I wish I could produce the stats over how many players have changed over those 9 years as well.
Does make you wonder if it really is possible to make that same mistake every year or so.
Makes me wonder if the problem isn't always the manager as changing the manager and the players just sometimes slows the decline other times speeds it up.
Nether the less overall their is still a gradual painful decline in both the on and off field matters.

The manager we have now is the best we have had at he level we are. If he sticks with it for next season he will do as well as anyone.
One thing that will not happen is that players emerge from the pre season unfit to last 90 minutes

I'll settle for that as starters. The difficulty may be attracting players to come if there is ongoing uncertainty as to our future / do we have a 'home' after next season / ongoing negative headlines etc etc. Fingers crossed we can get our act together as a club. Like a few on here I will initially be excited at our new L" campaign, but if it starts badly......

Instead of picking random managers why dont the club grow some bollocks and decide on a style of football then recruit the players to fit in to that style and then say to future managers this is how we play rather than keep having managers keep coming in and saying we havent got the players to play a certain way

Very difficult when you only offer 1 year contracts and sell all the homegrown talent as soon as a good offer appears.

I would be gob smacked if that happened. Any manager who has been around as long as he had still getting jobs, would never let players emerge from pre season not fit for the campaign. No chance. Only time that would be suggested would be by some anonymous person on an Internet forum, so don't worry about that.
So that aside we now finally know he isn't some miracle worker and can finally put that one to bed.
So let's not have any false expectations and allow him to become the next scape goat for poor decisions by the people running the club.

Grendel when he took over 'our worst squad ever' last time round and was a miracle worker getting a team with Murphy, Baker, Christe, McDonald, Wood, Mcgoldrick
to somehow win games in division 3.
Bloke is an average to ok manager in my book. Who will do well if he is given time and the club is ran properly from the top.
The ran properly from the top bit isn't there at the moment. So we may struggle next season I just want him not to be sacked when that happens.

We were ran just as badly last season and were running away with the league at one point. Leeds are another basket case club and are still doing reasonably well. Shit owners doesn't give managers an excuse to not produce.

But what Grendel said happened did happen, Robins turned the team around in a way I don't remember seeing. Unless he said it'd happen immediately now too nobody's really been shown as wrong, and I don't recall seeing anyone predicting a hot streak of wins.

He said Robins was a miracle worker.
He isn't it was a good team. He did well with it made it better with half of his signings. He was also smart enough to leg it when he knew DMC was leaving.
He then failed at Huddersfield and Scunthorpe. Then came back here.
He is an average to ok manager not a miracle worker.
He will need a few years here and needs yo be given that time.

Shit owners more time that not do make managers jobs much harder to perform.
Charlton,Blackburn,Blackpool,Portsmouth, Us , Leeds untill now.
There are also loads of examples where decent owners help managers perform

Yeah I appreciate that. I just can't stand it when we have mangers making completely inept decisions like bringing on a centre back when we're chasing a lead or continuing to pick a goalkeeper who can't kick or catch the ball and people just revert to blaming the owners. For what it's worth we have Robins now and I think we should back him all the way through next season and let him try and make something out of us but we can't let him off the hook if he is making incredibly poor decisions just because our owners are shit.

Mcgoldrick was ridiculed by Forest fans who cheered when he left. Robins helped re-ignite his career.
You just make random comments and state as fact. Wood s championship footballer. No he isn't. Murphy probably the best goalkeeper in league 1. Who were the other 23 keepers? Hussey a good league 1 full back. Nope he was crap. Cody McDonald - garbage.

A striker who averaged 17 goals a a season at our level after he left us. Is a striker doing his job no question.
Murphy didn't get his move to the division above because he was crap.
Fleck isn't currently playing for the team top of the table because he is crap.
Wood didn't get his move to the league above because he is crap.

Actually Like Robins, I am just realist that he is not the special manager some believe.
Because it's him and because of what happened last time. People raise the bar a bit about what that expect him to do next year.
Also the fact we will be in division 4.
We have lost a lot of mangers this way. We expected to do well in the championship. We expected to romp division 3. Some will expect us to romp division 4. Especially now we have Robins.
That's not fair we still have our owners and when we are not in the play offs next year. We shouldn't be calling for his head

i dont think anyone is calling him a special manager, but he did have a 51% win rate with us so we know he can do it. however you are right he didnt do great at huddersfield or scunny but look at them now, i wonder if their fans give robins any credit for recent successes? i dunno
sisu/council are the problem no doubt about it. i know alot of posters like to blame managers alone(and certain managers make bad situations worse like slade did) but its not a great situation for any manager be in.

Murphy was signed as a reserve team goalkeeper like we did when we signed Dunne. He's played a handful of games in 3 years
Wood was signed by two struggling championship clubs and has been farmed out to a series of league one clubs over the last couple of years
McDonald was tripe. Mcgoldrick was a derided player. At least you seemed to have departed as the one member in Coventry of the Chris Hussey fan club.
Odd how this great team was tripe when robins joined and tripe again as soon as he left.
