I worry that Sterling is going to cost us. You have to take your chances and most certainly the easy ones.

That should have been a walk in goal. Great first touch, but then did everything wrong.

Get Sterling off and push Lingard up
Or straight swap for Rashford
That complete ineptitude will end up costing us FFS

Forgetting Sterling, how good has Maguire been. All the long balls up to their front men have been snaffled by him

He is causing havoc though. Have to keep in for now. Sweden can't handle him.

Southgate just needs to tell him to be more ruthless or pass it quicker to a teammate.

I'd keep him on.

Yes sterling have his best game so far. And he is getting in good positions. That’s why the awful finishing is more noticeable

So would the other two
Just appalling that we've failed to score
Whatever is wrong with the lad
Overcomplicates everything
We're getting better now they've upped the tempo
Ali needs to get his shit together too .

Sterling is the quickest we've got though. Think that is a key factor.

Sterling is certainly no striker. And can anyone tell me what use Alli is?
We should be 3-0 up.

Kane is seemingly quiet but him playing a bit deeper is encouraging the Swedish centre backs to come forward and leaving plenty of space for Sterling. I'd be inclined to swap Sterling for Rashford as he's more likely to make use of it.

He’s been our most threatening player by quite some distance this half. Granqvist has constantly been on the back foot even when we’ve made clearances towards their corner flag. I’m convinced that for the first ‘miss’ he knew he was offside. As for the second, pretty frustrating, good goalkeeping from Olsen, but Sterling dithered on the ball after that, he should’ve shot or laid off as soon as the ball was knocked wide.

The team performance has been impressive, we’ve stifled Sweden and we were turning the screw on them right after we scored. Sweden haven’t conceded first this tournament so they ought to be more open as they chase the game, if we can get that second goal, it could be rout.

With my last breath mate.

It enrages me that some pundits are still bigging him up.

He cannot be in the England starting XI. There are better players.
See I can accept he wasn't great against Colombia, and that he should have scored this game. Personally I'd have drpped him for this game, but I actually think he's played pretty well overall so far today. I'd take Lingard off before him today.

OK, before this World Cup I'd have had Butland in goal, but Pickford's done pretty well the past couple of games!

Needed that to stay out, be stupid to let them straight back in it.

You're right.
Ask those big cumbersome defenders who they'd most like to see taken off and it'd be Sterling.
