They wouldn't mind this time. Don't forget that "the circumstances are totally different", etc etc

Free tickets you say? To local people? Let's not start that again!

Yeah, very funny ! You watch out Nick, I bet they do things a lot better than the SISU sad hats. Since we moved back to the Ricoh, I've had one E mail...........confirming ticket purchases for the Gillingham game { since I paid cash for the other 3 I attended} Nothing else, no sales, no marketing, no offers, no encouragement.................. I like all the others have to find out my info on here, the official CCFC website or in the Telegraph, when I go looking for it..............for those who don't look, remain disenfranchised.

I agree they will, I have said all along SISU's PR and Marketing is dog shite!

I'm taking the title of this thread as seriously as the article in the Telegraph by Alan Poole that's trying to convince us that Conor Thomas is good enough to play for Real Madrid.

I'm thinking 1500 genuine Wasps fans taking advantage of free travel and havi ng a day out, 1500 local Coventry rugby enthusiasts and rubber neckers and 500 from the wider Midlands community = Total 3500. Although Wasps may well spend a fair bit of money promoting and marketing this launch properly with offers and cheap tickets with giveaways etc. In fact as much as I despise what has happened I expect them to be 100% more professional and proactive than the idiotic amateurs we have running our football club.
Look out for billboards, newspaper adverts, promotions in schools, colleges and local rugby clubs !! This could all lead to a first bumper gate, whether it will last though is another thing, this is Coventry......when the bandwagon, freebies and cheap tickets fail to materialise next time, so will the supporters.

I think that they will offer their supporters cheap tickets the first game so they can be seen as apologising to their supporters. Because of this they will have a gate of about 27,000. But the next game will only have about half that amount at full price. Their supporters will then moan about the missing 'glory supporters.

You'd have to have a pretty low intelligence and be completely unreasonable to not be able to look at each situation (and this relates to anything in life) on it's own merits.

Peoples issue wasn't with free tickets, peoples issue was that they wanted the sixfields attendance to be as low as possible as a protest and the crowd numbers were being inflated by a very significant percentage by free tickets (well thats how it appeared anyway) no one really knew for sure.

Wasps will and absolutely should give out free tickets, tickets to schools, big deals etc etc as they need to build a new fan base up here if they are going to survive. As it stands I don't really care either way weather they are successful in that endeavor but I understand why and completely expect them to have this sort of promotion, they would be foolish not to.

Were CCFC not just trying to survive and build a fan base in Northampton?

Surely anybody that does go has no morals and is spineless anyway so they will be prouder of the ones who don't go as they aren't selfish and are proper fans?

Depends if they are massive hypocrites like some of ours I guess. In the eyes of our fans anybody who goes to the games is supporting franchising of clubs and moving them, can't possibly be because people want to watch Rugger can it?

Fair play if Wasps fans want to travel, it is their passion. I hope they enjoy it, it isn't their fault.

If it is fans who have been on here throwing their sixfields crap around and then decide to go, they look like plonkers.

Well, I guess in their case, when they call it franchising, it is actually franchising, rather than just throwing the word into a sentence to try and prove a point..... badly..

Oh, and not aimed at you Nick, just the view that everyone didn't go to Sixfields because of "franchising"

Personally I believe it was more about trying to avoid incredibly embarrassing attendances, and a Coventry club shouldn't really be trying to build a Northampton fan base but ignoring that, I say again people didn't have an issue with free tickets, they had an issue with the numbers being padded. They wanted tiny attendances so were unhappy with anything that prevented that and they were unhappy about how misleading it was.

No one has ever had an issue with free tickets they have always happened. People didn't want to see an attendance of 2000 people at sixfields because it looked like 20% of our normal attendance was going along, if they had a Coventry fans area where all tickets were paid for and that attendance announced, people wouldn't have cared how many people they let in free to a northampton stand.

I am not sure they are that clever, they could have done shed loads more to increase attendances but never really bothered.

I think it will really hit home as to our position when we see what was our club shop selling all things black and yellow. These people arn't stupid, the place will be stacked out at a fiver a ticket they know they have to win the local punters over. It just goes to show what effective marketing can do our first game back was a sell out at a fiver a piece, full stadium and great atmosphere. If you then take 7000 at 20 quid a ticket you earn 10k less with no atmosphere and get no benefits from sell ups. The fans have been lost and wasps may capitalise on this.

It wasn't anything to do with franchising why we ended up in Northampton. It is just something used by some to try and make a point.

We all know why we went to Northampton. And the reason I wouldn't go to Northampton was that our name is Coventry City. And there was not a valid reason for us being there. Now if SISU and wasps have a big disagreement and I see Wasps being at fault that made us leave Coventry again I would reconsider on going to Northampton if we ended up there again.

Yes but you are also Boycotting the Ricoh aren't you or is that only for City games there? ;) Let's not start the "valid reason" crap as that is down to opinion isn't it?

So when was I supposed to have said that I am boycotting the Ricoh?

Oh yes opinions. If you say it then it is true. If I say it I am either bullshitting or after attention. I get you.

No, whether it was a valid reason or not is down to opinion isn't it? You are welcome to yours the same as I am with mine.

You posted on here that you were boycotting the Ricoh didn't you while SISU were here? Apologies if wrong.

Sorry Nick. Valid reasons aren't a matter of opinion it's any old excuse equals a valid reason apparently. I suggested the same thing as you yesterday and got shot down by better informed more intelligent poster's ;)

So who is the valid reason judge?

One thing that might not seem valid to you may seem valid to me surely?

Exactly the point I was making when some were saying that SISU had valid reasons for taking us to Northampton. In my eyes they didn't.

Yes, so they thought they did and you thought they didn't. That is how it works ;)

At the time SISU probably thought they had a few valid reasons to take us there didn't they?

I stopped going to games at the Ricoh after watching all of our best players sold and replaced with freebies that were not good enough. But that was the season before we were moved. And I spent most of last season saying that I would be back as soon as our club was. My shifts have not worked out well so far this season. I have lots of family and friends in Coventry. I want to take my youngest lad there.

My views are slowly changing now. I have had enough of poor players. Anyone worth any money being sold and not replaced properly. Relying on loans that don't seem to want to play for the shirt. A manager without a plan B whilst plan A isn't working. More bullshit from Fisher and Co about our clubs future. Getting insulted by people on here for daring to have a different opinion. Why don't they come and have a word with me? I do slightly stand out from the crowd. I had lots of people come up to me when we played Rochdale. Mainly people on here that don't post or stopped posting because of all the bullshit. I don't bite. Happy to have a debate. Happy to have a laugh and beer :p But on here I am supposed to take being a fucking idiot, tosser and moron amongst other things for having an opinion.

I have even offered several times to drive to Coventry to pick up Grendel to take him to an away game. Never had a single reply......but if I post anything else he jumps on my posts. Would give us a chance of a proper debate.

Yes we are all CCFC supporters, but what chance does our club have for the future if all we get between ourselves is argumentative bullshit and insults? And yes I do get dragged into it easily at times.

If they had a valid reason for taking our football club to Northampton they would have got somewhere in the JR. And they wouldn't have lost the Ricoh to Wasps. Yes you can say that they got out of the 1.3m rental agreement. But the way that they decided to do it has cost our club many multiples of this in lost revenues, most probably millions in litigation, the goodwill of us supporters and has put our long term future in doubt.

So which points do you see as being valid for taking our club to Northampton?

You will only get accused of threatening posters if you ask them to meet.

I know we did!!! We only asked them to meet us outside the ground for a chat while we were handing out leaflets.
Some posters have an opinion of people because of their stance on the currant situation.
I have meet a few off here who have a different stance to me at the end of the day we all just love CCFC and always seem to get on.

There is the odd occasion though:thinking about:

I suppose the only way you'd get to the Ricoh is if someone gave you a lift as you'd never find it on your own
