Or you could say that the currentticket prices maximise revenue therefore bringing in more money for better players, which in improves the quality of the product, meaning better results leading to higher demand and more money.
To be honest we're pretty fooked by not owning our own stadium and not benefiting from any matchday or additional revenue. Our income is basically ticket sales, merchandising and sponsorship and the odd time we get on tv. If we want a promotion pushing side we need to pay for it. And even more important because FFP.

If we spent money on building or buying a stadium there'd be no money left to pay for a promotion, we're far better off renting.

That may be, but on a rent only deal with no access to additional or matchday revenue we'll struggle for the foreseeable future. If promoted, we'll relegation candidates and will likely end up a league one/championship yo-yo club like Peterborough and Doncaster...

If we don't pay reasonable prices to watch the team then we won't be able to pay the rent and/or reasonable players either.
Everything is a trade-off, less income, less money for squad.
Would have hoped that if the last few years have taught anybody anything, after all of us learning far more about accounts than anybody sane should have to, that realism would sink in.
Apparently we do have access to additional revenue, so we should be fine then.
Bradford is a flat £299 for an adult ST anywhere and £20 flat fee for a match day ticket with NO walk up charge.
To put it simply I think £22-27 is a bit too high for this league. We are only a West Midlands club not a southern club.
The 2 pound charge for match day is stupid and doesn't work.
Lessons need to be learned and I think they will so come April/may an it's ST time then it can be made to sell more. I personally see nothing wrong with £10 a game so £230 season tickets. In my opinion a lot more would get a ST at that price and pay up front knowing they get additional benefits such as away/cup tickets.
How much is a season ticket at Sheffield united or other league 1 clubs in the midlands or up north?
Ticket prices are important, but a high proportion of our income should be coming from sponsorship and other commercial activities, and of course developing players to sell on.
An article in the telegraph yesterday suggested we haven't.

That article is full of so many holes that i wouldn't pay any credence to it to be honest.

The cheapest season ticket at Sheffield United is £380, our cheapest is around £270 and our standard on is £345. Our season tickets are good value imo, single matches are slightly overpriced imo
It says we have a share of advertising rights and most sponsorship deals, before we got only shirt sponsorship and the advertising boards around the pitch.
What’s new is that the club will now get a share of revenues from advertising rights and most sponsorship deals.
Under the old contract it, only got money from ticket sales, the shirt sponsorship and advertising boards around the pitch.
I think it suggests we are getting a bit extra than the previous deal but still nothing from catering.
Maybe the ST isn't the problem then but more the match day prices?
I've found not many clubs with a walk up charge. Weird
About 65% of league one clubs have a walk up charge and they all charge £3!
Fair enough so will they do the same this year? They should if there serious to intice new fans including kids. My lad who is 8 supports the city but only 3 others in his class do too. What does that tell you?
Which ones come on Grendel should know better then make a comment without proof..
We are waiting

Actually its more I had only got down to Scunthorpe on the list. Here is low to high prices across the league excluding family tickets;
Low High Barnsley 23 25 Bradford 20 20 Bristol 23 25 Chesterfield 22 24 Colchester 18 26 Crawley 20 24 Crewe 22 22 Doncaster 20 24 Fleetwood 21 22 Gillingham 17 24 Orient 21 37 MK Dons 20 30 Notts County 23 23 Oldham 20 22 Peterborough 20 23 Port Vale 22 23 Preston 21 25 Rochdale 18 20 Scunthorpe 18 30 Swindon Town 19 25 Walsall 22.5 22.5 Yeovil 20 28
Now, many clubs charge depending on opposition so I am assuming mid price and excluded terracing. Sheff Utd is excluded altogether as I cannot work them out. I cant find one ticket sold at £18 but they seem to be cheapest at £21.50 -- they charge postage, booking fee and £2 walk up on top.
Some observations;
Lowest priced average is £20 and highest £25
Majority charge extra for match day purchase and most are £3 (Sheff Utd say "up to £2" - odd)
I can see none below £17
A lot of clubs do give a membership option and if you are a member you get between 20% and 30% off a match ticket. Not looked into membership charges but looks a good idea.
Average concession reduction is 30% but children prices hugely variable
Here's all ticketing information on Sheffield United
http://www.sufc.co.uk/news/article/20140722-matchday-ticket-prices-227926.aspx
They have Category A and B matches
Category B cheapest adult is £18 and most expensive is £22 bought in advance, with a £2 increase on the day
Category A cheapest adult is £22 and most expensive £26 bought in advance, with a £2 increase on the day
Not sure what matches qualify as category A but all the ones currently advertised (Rochdale, Gillingham and Leyton Orient) are category B
How much to join?
£25 or £50. You get other stuff thrown in. For example the £50 one which I have gives a year's subscription to SBP (the only way non-locals can get commentary of games), a half price match voucher, £5 merchandise voucher, priority access to tix after ST holders. I find this excellent value.
I've only looked up to the checkout as then you are required to sign up to there site but added to my basket at £18.They have 3 stands with 3 different prices. I could not buy a ticket for £18 as you have to have a child with you or the price is £21.50 plus a booking fee - adults cannot purchase at £18 and the game I tried to book is Rochdale
I don't get it. We are competitive on pricing then - what is the problem?

Tonight's game at liberty way. Conference side Nuneaton Town v Forest green rovers £16 to sit in the stand £14 to stand NO Concessions
Erm season ticket holders of which I am not one deserve the discounted rates. All other fans due to not buying a season ticket have to accept match tickets will be higher but will be competitive with rest of division for the luxury of picking and choosing games for a variety of valid reasons.
As our main income stream is ticket revenue currently and a lot on here still have unrealistic squad number and player ambitions think we need to accept club need to charge these prices to have a hope of trying to meet expectations linked in with financial fair play.
I agree reducing tickets will not make massive amount of difference to attendance and club will lose out. Think got it spot on currently in line with rest of league providing they do offer maximum amount of promotion games allowed within football league guidelines.
So Sky Blues both competitive and good value, just need to get everyone on board and as many fans as possible at the Ricoh not only for Yeovil but ALL our games. PUSB!
