I agree with this in sentiment and at most other games.

However, having more Middlesbrough fans in making more noise is the kind of small margin that might swing a game or the atmosphere
So what you’re saying is there should be other considerations beyond pure profit when deciding how to price and allocate tickets?

Now that @Sky Blue Pete has liked your comment I hope he’ll take that feedback straight to Doug and Dave…

Fook me! So you think people with season tickets should be behind people with more points for a fekkin home game? You wouldn't fall into that category would you by any chance? Unbelievable!!

1. People aren’t saying that.
2. Weren’t you laughing and gloating about supporters clubs getting priority over everyone else last year?

Have asked the chair of the supporters forum to reach out to the club on supporters behalf about the unused blocks

It’s all reminiscent of the 1987 cup final ticket debacle. They fucked it up then and we had so many people masquerading as fans on the day because the morons were handing out 25 tickets to any old Tom , Dick and Harry with a few stubs .
Glastonbury sells out in an hour. Done properly and to the right people with proof of loyalty, the tickets would have sold in four days just the same.
If by some miracle we qualify and we have 10 days to sell about 36500 tickets will we have the same unfair incompetency ?

I'm saying in certain circumstances - like the playoffs.

Where you have the potential windfall of the Premier league for winning 2(3) games, you try and swing every minimal gain in your favour.

Limiting away support at the commercial cost of a few thousand pounds profit (after stewarding, ticketing costs, taxes etc) seems like a good commercial investment to me.

If I could spend 100k of my budget at work, to minimise a tailwind from my biggest competitor in a huge opportunity, I would pull that lever every day of the week.

Because supposedly ticket revenues are crucial to the club’s success and they have to be as high as can possibly be.
You're forgetting that play-off ticket revenue is pooled and shared between the EFL and the four play-off clubs

What would your fair system be?
Season tickets + 1
Over 1000 points
General sale

1) that's exactly what GPE was saying
2) no I wasn't, I've not been a member of a supporters club since L1 when tbh there was no issue with their tickets. What I did was defend their right to get them, I still would. They've consistently brought lots to many games when we've not sold out and as long as the members going are ST holders I have no issue with them continuing. Where I git narky was people only having a pop at L&W when southam and N&B have lots more. For some reason they're given more grief, I think just because Juggy used to run it and some habve an agenda against him. When we were in L2 he started it and it was much needed then.

I don’t think you get over 1,000 points if you haven’t had a season ticket before or even close to 900 unless buying every game individually and even then, not sure you can

Not making much money from the game though, the difference is pennies.

Average ticket price once you allow for lots of concessions is, say, £26. 28K gate = £728K, less VAT is £606K. We get 1/8th of that = total gate receipts of £75K. The difference if we were to sell the extra 2.5K tickets to Boro would barely cover the cost of extra stewarding/policing.

Other reasons for selling to tickets to them, but financially it makes no difference.

It does really, I know it's an exceptional circumstance but imagine writing off £75k every home game, it's £2m a year.

i think he means the total gate receipts we would get around £75k - so for the difference of 2000 supporters would be nearer 7k additional revenue with maybe 2k of extra costs - so we are talking 5k difference to give them a big advantage

Not convinced really. We wouldn't need anymore policing stewards than the usual outrageous amounts.

Of the extra 4000, half will likely buy a drink/pint/pie.

The club probably underestimated the demand. Let's be fair, there were plenty on here questioning whether we'd sell out.

A lot of the problems above will be sorted if they can open the 4500 empty seats currently there.

We sold them out for Birmingham so would obviously sell out for the actual play off. Amateurs not having thought through the most testing scenario.

After selling our Brum at home they under estimated the demand for a Championship Play Off Semi Final ticket??

Agreed but plenty on here doubted it.

We had a lower home crowd for the Notts County play off game than the game against Morecambe I the week before believe.

Yeah but we’re all idiots. This is their job. I’ve said it before but the fact the ground is 16 years old and we don’t have a folder marked “sell out Football game” somewhere is ridiculous.

Ordered my ticket online, and it was straightforward (I only bought my own ST seat) and asked for it to be put on my ST card. paper ticket arrived in the post this morning…

I’m fuming, sort it out CCFC ;)

There was no more than a few hundred difference between those two games
