So history does repeat itself.

Sounds like CWR had nothing to put on their show, so just ran a tape of one of his previous interviews could have been any of them:thinking about:

Fucking Repeats why do I pay my licence.

Tim you are now really :sleep: the pants off me.

This is typical Fisher, and why we are where we are. On August 22nd, Acting council leader Coun Phil Townshend of Coventry City Council has not ruled out ownership of the Ricoh; but stated that trust needed to be rebuilt. He stated "As for the future, I think we should take one day at a time and not get ahead of ourselves and use this period to rebuild trust. All parties concerned need to learn to open doors the door for one another as opposed to allowing it to slam in other people’s faces".

And yet within a week or so - when we haven't even managed to play our first game back there after the exile his hand forced - Fisher is on the radio stating that ownership will never happen, and we're off else where.

They are not the actions of someone - or a party - rebuilding trust with a view to long term ownership. Please, please, please; for the sake of our football club; stop this man!

A new stadium will not be built either inside or outside Coventry. Mr Fisher is the new chairman with sole responsibility to sort the proposed new stadium, in other words he has been booted off the day to day running of the football club, in a nutshell sacked. He probably has a contract to run down but I believe his departure is inevitable and been moved sideways for now.
Going back to any new stadium there is not a cat in hells chance of any local council giving planning permission which also has to go to Government to be rubber stamped.

or build their own ground?
But the quality of their new pie in the sky stadium wouldn't allow for the same revenue streams that the Ricoh can offer anyway. So they really would be down to the pop and crisp money. It's all bluff and bluster and they/he is still hanging onto the 1% chance that they'll win the appeal. They won't ! The only way up for SISU is to strengthen what they have, improve the football clubs stature and turnover, make them a proper going concern and offload them eventually to someone who may wish to invest. They are going to have to take a loss but hey ho I'm sure they are winning somewhere else in their portfolio.

Not for the first time, I'm confused about Fisher and SISU's logic here.

They're going to have to find, conservatively, £20m - £30m to build a new, smaller stadium from scratch. The new stadium, being smaller, and likely more poorly located, won't have the capability to make as much money as the Ricoh can. It will also have the Ricoh on its doorstep as a direct competitor for most of the income streams that they're talking about.

The better plan surely is to rebuild bridges with ACL/CCC and the Higgs Trust, and think about making sensible offers to buy into the 24/7/365 income streams that come with ACL.

At that point instead of competition you get synergy - the better ACL does, the better the club does, and vice versa. The freehold is a side issue to this, you don't need to buy the Ricoh to get access to those income streams - but you will need to negotiate honestly.

Personally, if I was running the club, I'd bust a gut over the next twelve months to get moving on that. Even if I was looking at a possible back-up plan of a new stadium, I wouldn't be banging on about it as Mr Fisher seems to be doing. We're back at the Ricoh by both sides taking a conciliatory, measured and quiet approach - the next steps should follow the same path. Better for all sides to stay off the radio for now, perhaps. ;)

This is what I can't get through my head.. what is he playing at. The door was beginning to open again for ownership and all they need to do was gain trust but Fisher being the liability he is keeps getting in the way of success for our football club.

The statement made by Councillor Phil Townshend was a clear green light for there desire that CCFC to own the Stadium under SISU but in return all they wanted was there trust. Then SISU let loose Fisher and it all can goes pair shaped again.

When is Joy going to learn that he is more of a hindrance than a positive beacon for her organisation.

We fans seriously need to protest to get him out for the sake of our clubs future.

I suspect that after all that has gone on the Charity has no desire whatsoever to sell to SISU or any entity connected to SISU (past present or future). In which case the only way TF can apply pressure on Charity and/or CCC is through the media.

The interesting point comes in 2 or 4 years when decisions have to be made. After all that has gone on then if CCFC say we cant stay but FL say you cant leave there is going to be a lot of pressure from fans on Charity & CCC to sell up to save the club. Could that be what is being set up here (even without the legals in the background)

TF has to keep getting the "message" across ........... even if we do not believe it

But if the council do sell it will have to be at the market rate which SISU have no intentions of paying. Their has to be a sensible way of breaking the circle, surely if Waggot can negotiate with ACL then he could do with the charity, one would assume that the charity can now sell their stake to any one willing to meet their asking price. One would think PWKH would have the club at heart in making this decision, it does not give SISU anything other than a share in the running of ACL and a percentage of those management profits, but that can be translated to to more income on the pitch.

It is awful, Fisher comes out and says categorically that SISU can't buy the stadium, but in this article in the CT on 22nd Aug the acting council leader said that they can.

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/coventry-city-fc-ownership-ricoh-7655374

Back to square one

Absolutely and totally why where we are. I'd describe it as a joke, but they're funny; and this just isn't. The judicial review findings spoke volumes about SISU's intent and methodology, and it just doesn't change. Even now. And there are still those who laud his stance. It's astonishing. Simply astounding

This decides it for me, no season ticket, big game fan till they are gone, it's clear nothing has changed, poor signings on short term loans that have no ability to pay off long term, players turn out great we lose them half way through the season, still talking about ffp even though we know it's not true, still talking about building a new stadium which always has and remains making no financial sense whatsoever, still trying to mislead, not even doing a good job of selling tickets for our return.

Inmates running the asylum comes to mind. if sisu can not shiift 32k of tickects with a minimum of two weeks to do it what chance have they got running the Ricoh in its entirety 365 days of the year. Twenty three match days a year appears to be too many for them.

The Ricoh is the jewel in Coventry's crown so lets leave it as it is. It has hosted and still does all kinds of events which never came to the Coventry in years past so don't let a tin pot outfit get their hands on it in any form.

I say sell it to no one and let us council tax payers reep the benefits from it.

His whole mandate has been a failure, the court losses/costs, the loss of income whilst in Northants, PR disasters, lies and bluster and still he persists. He must be at the end of a disastrous contract arrangement for Joy and is running his time down.

if Turnover is key apparently and it is all about the club ......... is this too simple for an idea? .......... Otium book own events/exhibitions/concerts at the Ricoh in the same way other exhibitors/promoter/events companies do. Win Win all round isn't it?

In basic terms hire the space and put own events etc on ............... :thinking about:

I'm not going to listen. I'm still riding the crest of the wave being back at the Ricoh. Agree with majority of posts above - Fisher is only causing damage re ownership. Fisher Out.

A few points/questions....

The Ricoh/ACL have benefitted from CCFC not being there, I what I saw last week is correct - revenue from exhibitions etc is up, and the Ricoh was actually nominated for exhibition location of the year, or some other similar "accolade".

The plans for the "new ground" that were presented earlier this year at the Village Hotel meeting seemed to show just a football ground - no exhibition area, etc - how much extra income does Fisher expect to raise from such a project?

Can someone please explain what match day revenue the club are losing out on - I personally never purchase the weak lager, appalling pies or overpriced confectionary, and am sure many others don't. So, after paying staff, running costs, buying the products in the first place, how much do they make? This was one of the things that really bugged me about the move to Northampton - as the profits on (say) 1500 people spending about £7 on beer/food would never have covered the income of a minimum of 6-7000 people paying for seats.

Finally, going back to the original thread, was Fisher asked about his "the fans will fill Sixfields in a few months quote" or was the interviewer the usual BBC sycophant who wouldn't dare ask really searching questions?

I'd just be careful with the bit I've highlighted in Bold....revenues in many conference/hospitality venues us starting to look more positive than during recent recession years. An industry that's starting to get back on it's feet, post recession.

What would you think of someone who stated: 'Fisher has had a difficult job and in the main done it well. Ultimately the club is in a better place now in terms of its lease than it has been at any time since being at the Ricoh'?

:(

Never one to judge on a single comment. Whilst I totally disagree with the sentiment, I'd want to know what their rationale is/was for such a statement...

Never been on that forum...enough of a job keeping up with the loons on here. Does this person post on here?

Anyway, that's one person. I think going back to my original point, everyone (bar this individual you point out), all think Fisher should quietly move on. I've certainly not seen anyone on here stand up for him or his actions.

He a sighing cheeky little giggling smug c**t isn't he. Really wish I didn't listen to that.

I haven't listened. Can't bring myself to. But can't bring myself not to either. I think I need to head home and lie down to think through my options. Will it upset me that much?

I think you'll find that poster is a very prominent protagonist, sorry, antagonist on this forum, and he has espoused similar views on here regularly. Just decides to keep them more hushed on this forum for obvious reasons.....
