Not for the first time, I'm confused about Fisher and SISU's logic here.
They're going to have to find, conservatively, £20m - £30m to build a new, smaller stadium from scratch. The new stadium, being smaller, and likely more poorly located, won't have the capability to make as much money as the Ricoh can. It will also have the Ricoh on its doorstep as a direct competitor for most of the income streams that they're talking about.
The better plan surely is to rebuild bridges with ACL/CCC and the Higgs Trust, and think about making sensible offers to buy into the 24/7/365 income streams that come with ACL.
At that point instead of competition you get synergy - the better ACL does, the better the club does, and vice versa. The freehold is a side issue to this, you don't need to buy the Ricoh to get access to those income streams - but you will need to negotiate honestly.
Personally, if I was running the club, I'd bust a gut over the next twelve months to get moving on that. Even if I was looking at a possible back-up plan of a new stadium, I wouldn't be banging on about it as Mr Fisher seems to be doing. We're back at the Ricoh by both sides taking a conciliatory, measured and quiet approach - the next steps should follow the same path. Better for all sides to stay off the radio for now, perhaps.
