Imo, mid table will be fine. I don't expect a new manager to suddenly turn us into play off contenders, we'd need automatic form pretty much to achieve that, so his expectations should be the same as a change. He's earned that, so I think clear of relegation and upwards trajectory should be the expectation at Christmas.

you answered your own question- because it suits the narrative. So it’s getting bulldozed down everyone’s throat. It’s of zero relevance, and it’s not even necessary- the start has not been good enough without weird stretches & leaps.

It is acceptable. After what we'd been through, some big performances in the cup and v Leeds/Leicester, we were to coin a phrase on the beach early. Last season was great for lots of reasons and we simply ran out if steam.

In the semi final ohare ran a record km, missed the hull defeat after through exhaustion. Those are facts. After that he wasn't up for getting injured being out of contract. In the period before he was our most influential player. It was such a drop off and to expect others to play above themselves after what we'd been through was unrealistic.

You're talking like they had all had a near death experience. No wonder they are bewildered and don't know how to take criticism.
Maybe if robins knew how to rotate players properly they wouldn't have been as fatigued. Much like the time he was saying players were tired but then put them on against Maidstone for no apparent reason.

I'm not even staunch against his departure, simply pointing out the flaws in the arguments but you're beyond what's reasonable and won't see any other view. This isn't a black and white argument, but it's becoming petty and childish like the politics thread with clear sides drawn, so I'll make this my last post. Enjoy your irrational 'debating'.

It's not beyond reasonable to say it's not acceptable that they apparently downed tools because they were tired.
They still haven't picked the tools back up so it's not irrational.

This nonsense is why robins has had the easiest job in the football league in terms of the fans. Weirdly, some fans would let him have a job for life regardless.

Of course it does, but even if not he also took on Rotherham and Barnsley from seemingly impossible positions and improved their situations beyond reasonable expectation. His track record also includes 2 promotions & regular trips to Wembley so I'm not sure how much more you want

50 years following this club & the man currently managing it ‘despite all the well documented constraints’ has overseen the very best of those times, competing at the right end of the table, days out at Wembley, pride in my team, he gives us all he has & you want him sacked off after a poor start to the season

I'm a stick with Robins atm,
but he's getting precariously close to the edge of the cliff, two further defeats this week and that will be that.
I belive some of the issues are down to the bids rejected on deadline day, Simms being the obvious one and the dummy has been spat, possibly Sheaf and MVE may also be in that boat.
Throw in the terrible form, lack of depth in the middle, totally new set up behind the scenes and we end up with a mess.

That part is definitely down to him.
And I can't find one post saying Robins is blameless. People just keep making it up in their heads.
But he's had 3 tools which hes used to be succesful, an assistant, experienced players and loans all taken away from him.
Anyone who thinks that hasn't had an affect is deluded.
He's still made some poor selections and in game decisions though, no doubt about it.

Thing is, some of the things people have criticised Robins over right now, are the same things they have always criticised him over.
He's not perfect obviously and has weaknesses. It's always been labelled at him that he sometimes sets things up wrong, that he doesn't make substitutions early enough and that he makes the wrong substitutions.
It's always been the same and that's even when we have been doing really well under him.
I also don't get the on the beach thing and that being unacceptable. It's always been a thing and always been a thing across football for decades and decades.
Teams up and down the country, start to lose focus and have one eye on the end of the season and that can so often result in less motivated performances.
It's fine to say it's unacceptable, but there it is and it's part of the game of football unfortunately.
I still trust Robins to turn things around. That window of opportunity can't last forever though. I think if we are still down amongst the bottom 3 come Christmas, we will then have to pull the plug.
The failure to nab a midfielder in the transfer window has really hurt us. Sheaf is still looking rusty right now and not back on his game.

there was 100% bid turned down for MVE, been noises of homesickness. He’s been awful all season bar Oxford.
clear there are a number of players who think they are too good for this.

You’ll always get this. As soon as something doesn’t go well instant change is called for. Players recently sold become world beaters. Players on the bench must come on. It’s the same with the manager. It’s in the DNA of football fans. Change is the solution. It’s not. Thousands of teams look for that 10 game new manager “bounce”………and look for it again after a year or so. It’s not the answer.

Tbh it's all opinion, you can't prove the future and you'll never get the chance to see alternate futures play out so you'll never know what the best decision was.
My opinion is that we've looked like a team in real trouble for many weeks, we absolutely stink of relegation and anyone who thinks it can't happen needs to wake up. I see a manager with no plan on how to fix it who pisses about with the team weekly, making increasingly bizarre decisions in an attempt to land on the secret formula. It's a shame its ending this way it really is but we need fresh ideas. I'd have sacked him after the Sheffield Wednesday game, if we don't beat QPR he really needs to step down.

I respect your view but really disagree on this. I would normally agree with this view point however since the bad run, we have struggled to finish our chances and struggled to defend against silly chances.
These are the same issues we face this year, with the same tactical set up. It’s not a stick to beat the manager with but so much an observation on what’s going wrong and a concern over how much longer it’ll take to resolve the issue.
Don’t think it’s venom to see the above and have concern that we’ve made no progress in resolving our issues and whether that’s down to tactics or coaching, it’s both on Robins to resolve.
