It will be. Need to believe and stay positive.Yep hope and pray the treatment is successful
Anyway, a break from Whistlegate.
So, went to see the consultant in Heartlands in Brum on Friday. He told me about the rarity of the leukaemia again and what they planned to do. This Friday will have the Hickman line put in, then next week or maybe the week after will go into Walsgrave for a week or so for some intensive chemotherapy. Hopefully, they've got Wifi!
Then I will be having the bone marrow transplant in Heartlands and will be there for a month or so. The good news is they have two potential matches for the donor. One in the UK and one in Germany.
My white blood cells are unfortunately not playing ball and are on the increase, so was feeling pretty shit last week and this. However, I was determined to go yesterday as it might be my last game of the season. Just glad it is all starting to happen now.
December was a nothing month really with me just being at home taking the drugs. I'd almost forgotten I was ill, so all the recent consultant appointments have reminded me how serious this is! Gulp.
As a side issue all the haematology consultants in Heartlands are Greek so thank God for immigration in the NHS!

good luck mate, hope it all goes well.
That certainly trumps my genetic disease; Pseudoxanthoma elasticum not that I am comparing severity, merely the name)Oh, I can exclusively reveal what the name of the thing I have is. Unfortunately, the guy at Heartlands kept mentioning it, so I remembered it. I hadn't before.
It's: myeloproliferative neoplasm FGFR
Snappy, eh?
Good luck! Will they have wifi?Just had a call from the consultant. Definitely going in for the chemo next week, but could be up to a month in hospital. I had the choice of Heartlands in Brum or University in Cov, so chose Cov.
Good luck! Will they have wifi?
Thanks Steve. Another bit of a blow today, been signed off work for another six months, although it could be longer.
I hate them!!!Its just the hickman line but been waiting here two hours. He told me at 8.30 i was going into theatre 'shortly'. Freezing here in one of those ridiculous hospital gowns. Bloody SISU.
