And if we were to need to replace for example Hamer, wouldn't you want that replacement bedded in, couple of friendlies etc to mould in with our style of play etc considering they would be replacing a vital cog in the team?
We all know Robins would not want to be scraping around at the end of the window 6 games in for a replacement
Unfortunately I think it's the old cliché 'money talks'. Even if it's the final day of the window and an acceptable bid comes in, then that player is gone. We would simply look to replace in the loan window which runs longer (I think?), or see who is still free.I cant see any of the big 3 going now. Windows too far along to the start of the season, i think MR would say lets keep them until Jan now
Am i in the minority?
You make it sound like Robins, or any manager for that matter, has such a luxury?
Every manager would of course prefer to bring in a replacement following a sale of a key player as soon as possible but most of the time that's just not possible.
The inference from the ITKs suggest a sale is probably needed this summer. So the notion any sale will have to be postponed because Robins hasn't had a chance to field the outgoing player's replacement in a few pre-season friendlies is nonsense.

fair point. How about any potential replacement? Do you think target 1 2 or 3 to replace Gus has not already moved elsewhere for example and we end up with target 33?
Because he's at the stage of his career he wouldn't be happy being backup, and it's unlikely a loanee would be happy being backup.
Nobody's happy being reserve, but different profiles of track record and experience would expect different things.
Miserable sod aren’t you. You gonna be alright if we sign some actual decent players? Shall we brainstorm some stuff for you to whinge about just in case?Let’s hope so and don’t disappear like the other two MR thought we had
I don’t think Hamer would leave a massive hole if he goes. We’d still have Sheaf Allen Kelly Eccles Palmer in there. I wouldn’t be against bringing a loan in there and investing the money in other areas in the future.
Palmer is playing/competing with O'Hare.I don’t think Hamer would leave a massive hole if he goes. We’d still have Sheaf Allen Kelly Eccles Palmer in there. I wouldn’t be against bringing a loan in there and investing the money in other areas in the future.
He deffo would. In my view hes the most expendable of the 3 but going into a season with Sheaf, Kelly Allen and Eccles as the midfielders is severely lackingg in proven championship class (bar Sheaf)
Palmer is playing/competing with O'Hare.
We'd have:
Allen - OK rotation
Sheaf - Quality
Kelly - Ageing and probably above his level
Eccles - Injury prone and unproven
That isn't great options for a midfield 2 and that ignores the need for us to buy develop and sell on for profit to progress.

If Hamer was to go, I hope that someone else is brought in. The midfield looks very weak without him
Or you could look at it as:Palmer is playing/competing with O'Hare.

Sheaf will go for more money than Hamer when he goesSheaf has got better since the end of the season according to some on here.
He has a lot of potential and it is a big season for him, but I think we need to be a bit more measured. He might look good compared to names such as Kelly and Eccles, but he's still improving and the midfield needs a dusting regardless. If we were to lose Hamer then in my opinion it would be unforgivable not to strengthen it before the season starts. We'll get steamrolled there otherwise.

Yeah go on then, probably both be undisclosed mindTenner charity bet?
Yeah go on then, probably both be undisclosed mind
Or you could look at it as:
Allen - did well never let us down last season.
Sheaf - quality,shut up a few cynic’s last season
Kelly- didnt look out of place end of season.
Eccles- promising young player did very well till getting injured.
He is our best player so of course he would. I just don't understand this view that he's the easiest to replace. He is well above the rest of the team.I don’t think Hamer would leave a massive hole if he goes. We’d still have Sheaf Allen Kelly Eccles Palmer in there. Have seen about a 5pm announcement, no idea how likely but it will be a loan defender.
Author of the story is Pete O'Rourke rather than Wayne Veysey, so that gives it more reliability.I know some people are dubious of this as a source... Thinl this was the lad who was training with Walker prior to preseason -
