We have one of the largest potential support bases that there is. Biggest city (aside from Leeds I think but they merge into Bradford) with only one club (I think) plus Nuneaton, Leam, Warwick, Bedduth, Treacletown, Rugby etc.The population of the Burnley area is larger id guess Burnley is about the size of Nuneaton but there are a number for towns Foulridge, Barrowford, Padiham, Brierfeld, Nelson, Colne and Burnley all more or less roll into each other bet the total population would be wel over 200k and then there are nearby towns like Earby & Barnoldswick where my dad large loyal Burnley support there.
And for the record, SISU dropped the ball by not going to Butlin Road and choosing Northampton when they had their giddy fit.
6000 sell out or whatever in that ground plus cementing the support of the local kids for a lifetime would have been far better.
St Andrew’s too. Would have rather said : here’s the rent up front Rugby, sort your pitch and whatever else is needed to get status.
Northampton? Set us back years.
Rant over.
Trying to find us a ground to justify signing hudlinDoesn’t the ground have to meet FL regulations and would have required a lot of work?
I think at the time for L1 it wasn’t far off. Different requirements for different levels so that the Barrow’s and Sutton’s of this world can progress. I’m think there was a dispensation for time to sort. If not Rugby then Nene Park was a better option. They’d just lost their club and 3000 people had no footy to go to - whatever - better than Northampton - duck egg move.Doesn’t the ground have to meet FL regulations and would have required a lot of work?
I’m sure they can change their own floodlight bulbs.Trying to find us a ground to justify signing hudlin
Tavares is small and scored about 20 for the U23s. What is your obsession with tall players?I’m sure they can change their own floodlight bulbs.
It was a suggestion and I’ll stick by it. I personally hope he does well - the lad stuck at going to Uni despite easier options and for that he gains my respect. Huddersfield have taken a punt and are now getting some of his massive 50k plus per year back from Wimbledon.
Let’s see. In the meantime I hope we get a striker to sit in our u23’s who is taller that Danny DiVito.
No obsession just the mere fact that we don’t have any. You pick your team to play your opponents and if you have great crossers of the ball you want the option of someone getting in the end of it. It’s not just tall, it’s having the option off the bench of a physical striker AS WELL AS a fast striker or whatever. Last summer, Baka, Biamou etc left (they weren’t good enough) and we got Waghorn who isn’t tall. Done to death now. When in the 80th minute I see a ball crossed and whistling over our strikers heads because Vik ain’t there (subbed or ran into the ground or whatever) then I’ll say “That’s ok, PROCDOC said I’m wrong for even suggesting a taller striker in reserves”.Tavares is small and scored about 20 for the U23s. What is your obsession with tall players?
Just like in FM and Fifa pace is the “meta” I think thats what people call itTavares is small and scored about 20 for the U23s. What is your obsession with tall players?
We scored lots of late goals last season without chucking a big lump on though? No obsession just the mere fact that we don’t have any. Similarly, would you stack your centre back options full of 5 foot 8 players. No. Peake wasn’t big nor was Shaw but they had Killer / Konjic to cover the air.
We need a big striker to cover Vik.
Easy.We scored lots of late goals last season without chucking a big lump on though?
Adaramola is on the bench for Palace against Liverpool today. Could get a good look at our potential new LWB against some decent opposition in the 2nd half.

Are you dave Bassett? Tall strikers are only useful if they have other attributes. Hudlin is like bambi on stiltsI’m sure they can change their own floodlight bulbs.

Jimmy Greaves was about 5 foot 8 and if he scored less than 35 goals a season there was an inquiryTavares is small and scored about 20 for the U23s. What is your obsession with tall players?
This sounds a tad Waspesque.I think at the time for L1 it wasn’t far off. Different requirements for different levels so that the Barrow’s and Sutton’s of this world can progress. The other thing that could make a difference this year is injuries, or possibly / hopefully lack of.I don’t know about others but personally I feel we’ve improved the quality of players in comparison to who we’ve got rid of ‘so far’ which obviously doesn’t take into account if we lose any of the big three.
Yes but they also have another Championship side very close and some very big teams not far away. The population of the Burnley area is larger id guess Burnley is about the size of Nuneaton but there are a number for towns Foulridge, Barrowford, Padiham, Brierfeld, Nelson, Colne and Burnley all more or less roll into each other bet the total population would be wel over 200k and then there are nearby towns like Earby & Barnoldswick where my dad large loyal Burnley support there.
The lad Plange who Alan Nixon linked us with has scored a hat trick against Ipswich. Sounds like Nixon has a story on him tomorrow as well. He has also has one on us.
I think this was against an Ipswich “B” team, they’re currently playing another game now
They only took over a small number of first team players as Singapore has strict Covid restrictions.Crystal Palace first team are playing here in Melbourne against Man Utd on Tuesday so must be their reserves or U23’s

Don’t use Tavares in the same sentence as the greatest English goal scorer of all time.Jimmy Greaves was about 5 foot 8 and if he scored less than 35 goals a season there was an inquiry
So do weYes but they also have another Championship side very close and some very big teams not far away.
I apologise, those who didn’t see him play will never understand.Don’t use Tavares in the same sentence as the greatest English goal scorer of all time.
Agree with your overall point, the potential is massive and had we not suffered decades in a downward spiral we’d have seen a bigger fanbase. We have one of the largest potential support bases that there is. Biggest city (aside from Leeds I think but they merge into Bradford) with only one club (I think) plus Nuneaton, Leam, Warwick, Bedduth, Treacletown, Rugby etc.
Burnley haven’t got our potential.
We’ve taken 40k plus to Wembley on more than one occasion recently, it’s time we stopped putting ourselves down and pointed these things out to potential signings / sponsors / investors.
Nuneaton is Treacletown, isn't it ?We have one of the largest potential support bases that there is. Biggest city (aside from Leeds I think but they merge into Bradford) with only one club (I think) plus Nuneaton, Leam, Warwick, Bedduth, Treacletown, Rugby etc.
Most definitely.Nuneaton is Treacletown, isn't it ?
