Transfer Shouts (11 Viewers)

long way home

MR and staff are going to be busy this summer for sure. We are losing at least 6 out of contract players and 5 loan players who could be onto pastures new. So its a big change and could be a new league. MR would want this pressure but its going to be a big task to improve again but he has done it multiple times before and think he will again.

Could be 11 goodbyes and as many as 10 new faces this summer. I hope we see a few younger players stepping up which helps and look forward to some exciting names walking out come start of new season. So lots of movement and not going to be boring, but being a Cov fan never is..

Assuming we dont go up.. The best Gyokeres deal we could get is with Burnley. McNally + Twine + Some Cash
I see what you are saying Adam but I'm going to slightly disagree on this one.

From memory transfer deals involving player swaps rarely work out. For us, we had Terry Gibson with Alan Brazil thrown into the deal. Total disaster. Gallagher to Blackburn with Wegerle moving in the other direction - not a total disaster but questionable. And don't get me started on the sale of Wilson to Bournemouth with those multiple loan players thrown in. Disaster.

I see what you are saying though, McNally is top class and we have a much more capable management team to make those decisions (other players thrown into the mix) than we had before.

Player swap deals like that are almost always a bad idea - just get someone to give us the cash and let us buy who we want.

Dunno about you but I’d definitely like both of those players.

Those two plus £10m seeming as he only has a year left, works out to be about £16m value which seems reasonable. I know we all want £20m but dunno if we will get the buyers as it depends on who goes down

It’s just a much riskier way of doing a deal. It depends on both sides agreeing a value on three players rather than one, raising the odds of someone getting screwed. Whereas everyone knows the value of cash, and it gives you more flexibility - even if we want Twine and could agree on his value with Burnley, who’s to say we wouldn’t prefer £3 million in cash instead?

Get promoted and get young Gelhardt from Leeds, currently Sunderland on loan, to partner Gyokeres.
Great prospect.

Agree, but swap deals can be beneficial if we have to pay a percentage to Brighton and the deal is structured properly

If Reading are relegated, and if we fail to reach the Premier League, I would like to see us go after Lucas Joao (yes, we would not be the only ones interested). I believe he is a free agent in the summer. Would definitely be better cover than Walker for when he goes

Also, if we sell Vik, then would love to see us put in a bid for Duk and Miovski of Aberdeen. Although given that they are 3rd and likely to be playing European football, might be hard to get them away, but I would hope around £9million for the pair would tempt Aberdeen, and I’m sure Coventry could offer better wages

Anyway, that’s just a wish list of mine, no substance to this nor any rumours

His stats are toilet, i hope not
I refer you to the stats pertaining to Viktor Gyokeres prior to his signing
Scored roughly every 200 mins over his career, similar if not slightly better than Vik at the time.
Just had a look on fotmob and he handily exceeds his xG regularly, decent rate of return international level (albeit against laesser opposition (and a decent amount of pens)). Could be decent, if he has a 4 year contract he'll might be a bit pricey.... and probably wouldn't service us to well in the Prem

Who were those two strikers that were playing in the same team we all spoke about on here before? Could have swore it was the Dutch league. Was it van Hooijdonk and another guy at Sc Heevereen?

Van hooijdonk would be a great signing, I would think Xavier Mbuyamba would be under consideration, plays for Volendam, ex Chelsea, really highly regarded at one point. Possible Viveash link?

I think one of them was Zian Flemming, who is now Millwall's best player

Yes, big time.
He looked great when he broke into the first team, but suffered for having to continually drop back to cover for a poor LB. That coupled with injuries meant he was a shadow of the player he was.
Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. 👍🏻
Although, looking at pictures of him from the 92-93 season, perhaps his prowess was in his 80’s mullet:
