You make it sound like kelly is a past it has been. Clearly he offers a lot to the side on and off the pitch. I would have extended Doyle though seeing as you asked.

Off the pitch maybe but he doesn't really offer a great deal on it. Kelly is very much a L1 player and that was shown even when he was starting games during the season 20/21 season.

Love this time of year, the hysteria when we don't sign players we link ourselves too, panic that we haven't signed anyone, despite most teams in the league also having not made a signing. JCS is just like the situation we had last year as others have mentioned with Ostigard and Matty James. I have no doubt we will go and more than adequately replace and improve once again.
Remember that JCS was part of a dodgy defence so we need to improve rather than just maintain the status quo.
We all want a signing, last year it was the same and then it was like London buses.

Not a bad shout, but Shankland also turned out to not be all that at all

I think that was fairly obvious from the outset to be honest. Per reports from Scotland even when he was scoring for fun it was widely suggested that he was only ever going to succeed in the Scottish Championship.

I remember at the time of us apparently showing interest even a friend of mine who supports Rangers warned that it would've been a dubious signing despite his goalscoring record.

No point signing players that bring nothing you could have a squad of 100 but if only 18 are good enough what’s the point.
Thats fair enough, but why sign players that aren’t good enough in the first place, I probably should have stated in my previous post that we need more players in the squad who can step in when needed not necessarily great players or like for like just players that give effort, work hard and aren’t massively out of their depth

You make it sound like signing 8-10 players in one window can be done cheaply. If it was that simple, I’m sure Robins would sign them.

We’re still losing 4 million a year so not really sure what people want us to spend. If we at least broke even, maybe we could be a bit riskier.

I'd take the losses with a pinch of salt as they're largely made up of interest that is yet to be paid out.

We have come a long way in a short time and still have players that were truly signed to get us into the championship. Some have got better, others have shown they are not out of their depth in this division. A few we have passed by and have had to leave behind while others have not worked out.

Its a process that should not change, as its enabled us to make massive strides on and off the field. A true success story, built on doing it the right way and for that reason alone we shouldn't go away from it. Making small improvements each season is ok, you build towards next season with the aim to get a little better and a bit closer to the play offs spots. MR will have to wheel and deal, take a gamble here and there, but we should not be to down when we miss on a player or a big player is sold. If it funds more quality coming in we get stronger and as fans we should be positive about the road we have been on to get back.

Its been a top achievement by the fans to show the level of patience and support its taken to this point. And nobody anywhere can say we don't deserve to see an improving club. We just need to keep our patience with the process, because if you know the end game, you can enjoy the journey, even if you get a few days of rain....

In your opinion yes. He assisted the Bristol city winner, the equaliser at Blackburn do you want me to go on? He offers plenty and fully deserved his extension

So you're happy one of our higher earners is third choice, is injured for at least half the season and at best will only come on in the final 10-20 minutes in games?

He didn't score the equaliser against Blackburn that was an OG. So you're more than welcome to 'go on' but his assist for Godden's goal vs Bristol City and accidentally forcing an OG were his only real highlights from last season.

I don't remember any real stand out performances from the few minutes he did play other than perhaps Fulham (h) where pretty much every player was voted 7+.

What are we 4 days into the transfer window and you clowns having a meltdown

quality
I find it very bizarre myself. I'm all for getting players in early, allows them time to gel with the squad, shows you get your first choices and know what you're looking for etc. but we need a training session at the very least for them to be able to start to gel anyway!

Maybe I should be annoyed footballers have holidays...

When will we get the first "FFS just sign somebody" nonsense

It's funny really, until the mid 90s Atkinson era (which coincided with the Bosman ruling and the increase in Sky revenue tbf) there would be one or two signings at most each summer.

The whole window is just a game of monopoly for the big boys with the rest trying to deal with the after effects

Yes I am thanks. I didn't say he scored the equaliser so perhaps read properly before you comment. You clearly have an issue with him and I sympathise with you. I am more than happy he is here.

I did already say this, but guess what... I wasn't being entirely serious

It’s not that we haven’t signed anyone. It’s rumours that all we’ve got is frees, loans, and wages we can free up.

Fine if we can shed £50k by getting rid of Waghorn, Kelly and Walker as suggested, but that’s a hell of a long shot, more likely we get half or less gone on a loan deal. Same with replacing Hamer or whoever, if we’ve just got their wages we aren’t likely to be able to do more than replace them and maybe take a gamble on one other.

And if that is all we have dropping £10k+ on a player who has serious question marks and has never nailed down a place at this level is questionable sense.

I think if we sell Hamer (or anyone else) for a significant fee there will be some money invested. We’ve spent about 2 million last 2 summer windows.

I love transfer speculation as much as the next person, but we have 'been known' for years now to not sign anyone speculated with, but then signed people out of the blue. Some have turned out great, some not so much. I'd probably get half a lob on if we announced a signing today, but I'm also not going to cry and shit my pants when we don't. What's wrong with people? It's going to be a record breaking weather week - go and enjoy it. After all, majority of football players are 😎🏝️

I think the close season before our Cup win, Sillett brought in Houchen from Scunthorpe, Painter from Stoke and perhaps Culpin from Nuneaton. Not a stellar ‘window’ (there were no ‘windows’ at that stage), and had there been social media back then, no doubt some would have been calling for Sillett to go.
The only slight disappointment so far is that we may have missed out on JCS, who was okay last season but was a bit injury prone and who wasn’t a real game changer. I’d have been happy if he signed, but not too bothered he hasn’t.

This is it for me. I don't have the energy to get all upset every time we miss out on a player or we haven't signed one after three days of the transfer window being open (not accusing you by the way). Every year the same stuff comes out. It's mad how short everyone's memory is. I'd hope we can be a little more patient and less emotive. SBB obviously has an insider at the club, or works there himself. He's provided great information countless times, as has Better Days. But, he isn't going to have the definitive inside track on what we will be spending this summer. It could be spot on and we have to manage our budget, or it could be we are keeping our cards close to our chest and may have more to play with than has been leaked.

I must admit, my expectations are probably much lower than a lot of people on here. I never thought we were going to go out and replace Josh Pask, Jordan Shipley and Jodi Jones with proven Championship players. It's just unrealistic. Continual improvement and marginal gains. A few signings a season that improve on the season before and we build that way. I also don't expect us to be in the playoffs next season. It will be wonderful if we are. It's such an enjoyable time to be a CCFC fan, I think we sometimes get carried away and that we absolutely have to keep on improving every single season. Of course, we all want that, but football doesn't work that way. I trust that Robins and his team know where they will improve within the means given to them, and come July 30th we will all be sat at a ground very much looking forward to the roller coaster of emotions in the 9 months that lay ahead.

Well why mention it then when it was an own goal - apart to scrape the barrel in an attempt to prove your weak point.

I don't have an issue with him. I have an issue that he's a high earner comparative to his ability and position in the squad.
