Transfer targets (107 Viewers)

Is it me or is it strange to go into the Transfer window with absolutely no idea of who Robins or the Recruitment Team is at least looking at ?

There was more to the Hamer saga & believe it or not , IF they had granted him his asking salary , that was below what he is on in the prem , he would have stayed .
Have you ever heard of a player returning to his ex club , so often …… he loves/d it here .
Don’t believe the £15 mil Doug allegedly got for him as well , as he fucked that figure up !

Always think the new deal talk is almost irrelevant. Even if he had signed a new deal it would have likely had a clause in it if a Premier League club came in he could go. Even if we'd given him £25k a week, Sheff United are probably paying him £35k a week. This would have still been enough to turn his head. He was fantastic for us particularly in the last ten games, but we sold him at his absolute peak value for me and in years to come people will probably see this.

There isn't a chance he is on less in the prem than he wanted here.

Unsubstantiated nonsense

I believe the club tried to resign him and Hamer strung the club along until a suitable offer came in for him.

The fee was reported by many different media outlets and I have no reason to believe that those media outlets are less accurate than a poster on SBT.

Some ITKs believe different. The same ones that believe we can keep O’Hare. Make of that what you will.

Certain people just don’t want to believe this. Left us little high and dry with 2 weeks left in August.

With the continuing saga of Callum O’Hare’s contract, surely we can’t lose him , or in Doug Kings limited football knowledge , with the Hamer fuck up , just pay him his worth .
We’re lucky that his major injury has seen him come back & be a revelation, so please Doug , with the money you’ve stashed away , give us all a massive Christmas present & learn from your Hamer disaster !
Why was Hamer is disaster, the club has a wage structure we can't afford to pay players 20k plus a week.

O'Hare being offered a big bucks new contract is a really tough one. Today and in many earlier matches he has looked a bit off the pace and reluctant to tackle like he used to. Against Birmingham and in glimpses at Sunderland he looked back to his best. I still think he has some way to go to regain his consistent form before his injuries and may struggle with two games a week. There is still that lingering doubt his injury may recur. We look mugs if he leaves on a free and prospers, or we pay him a fortune and he breaks down. The outcome is in the laps of the Gods (and our staff). Clearly we can't get away with the one year contracts we offered Jodie Jones

Agreed, I think King is a businessman before anything else and he won't let an asset like O'Hare leave for nothing even if it means a reduced fee.
Depends what fee though, and what contribution is. Robins was able to keep Rose when a cash offer was made for him, and was allowed to keep Gyokeres when they all knew there was the risk of his contract running down and being harder to sell in the summer than January.

Any football chairman clearly likes a risk(!) and unless it's a fat fee, the risk might be that O'Hare earns us more than any transfer fee can bring us.

Yeah fair point. Guess it depends whether King thinks we have a chance of play offs this year!
Slightly different scenario perhaps in terms of the value of Rose Vs O'Hare (purely money wise) I think if we are offered 7 figures he will go personally.

Rose claimed we were offered £750k. Personally I can't see that as being right at all, and us keeping him(!) but that would suggest we'd need a lot more than £1mil for O'Hare!

Yeah I really don't believe we were offered 750k! I also wonder whether we learn our mistake from that anyway. As we barely used Rose second half of the season.
