Says at the bottom of the article looking to move to one of Europe’s top 5 leagues. Would be a coup if we got him.
Yes would be amazing reading the article . Could be an awesome signing to play alongside Kitching but looks like the fee could be quite high

2024/25 League 1 Champs?

Jordan Henderson is apparently looking for a club back here after ‘struggling to settle’ in Saudi….and happy to take a pay cut and lose millions of pounds in tax and lost wages to move back, and probably have to pay his club to move

Daft move in the first place unless you’re moving for the money, which apparently he wasn’t 🤔

He could still do a job at a lower Prem league team, or at championship level - could we / would we want to try to tempt him back?

He's been linked with Chelsea apparently

I'd forgotten about him. Was a semi regular for Liverpool at one point and would excellent at this level surely.
Terrible attitude according to staff at Liverpool (for some reason I originally typed Spurs). Klopp thought he was too frail for the Prem after signing him from Fulham. He was sent to Portugal on loan and then Leipzig but hasn’t made an impression

Interesting article on Brekalo

I don’t know why but I still really rate him, just looks like a quality defender and his demeanour is exactly what we want at the club, professional, loyal to whichever club he’s at etc.

Let’s be honest with ourselves, McFadz has basically finished, brilliant guy but he’s getting older and slower, whenever we play him it will be due to an injury of another player or to rest tired legs. Personally I’d much rather have 3-4 quality permanent CBs at the club than a loanee and a declining player. Also no reason to say Brekalo can’t play CDM if Sheaf gets injured. I’ve said it a lot but I think if we want to be in the Prem then we’ve got to start having a Prem-worthy team and I just think Brekalo would be a great addition.

Assumed we hard targets to finalise soon as window opened for some reason.

Doesn't seem so
it does seem odd. If the manager/Doug knew we were short following the summer in certain positions, why not have players prioritised and agreed so they are good to go on the first of Jan?

It seems odd that all discussion of budgets between Robins and King are only happening now- with transfer talks now only commencing. Seems very reactive rather than proactive..

Screams of another transfer deadline day ‘will he/won’t he’ sign kind of scenario

Maybe we have two tiers and are waiting to see if we get a fa cup cash windfall to go for elite options?

Doubt it mind you

Clearly Robins is just giving lip service to the media. He isnt going to come out and say what is actually happening. If he does and it goes wrong he gets impatient fans like you slagging him off

Having targets lined up and getting them over the line are very different things. Hopefully we are targeting players who are important to these other teams and they are not happy to lose. First we have to persuade them to sell and only then may we negotiate with the players themselves.

Maybe we took the first step before January and are busy with the second. Maybe these players have several choices and are considering their options. Much better that than the days of picking up journeyman whom the teams are happy to sell and who have nowhere else to go.

It can take a couple of days to make a home or a year. I'd rather the mansion than the favella.

Let the club conduct its transfer window as it sees fit. Some clubs won’t release players until they have replacements in. It’s still the first week of January, we have had two games, Doug has been away and i am sure there will be movement in and out in due course. BTW the team we have are doing okay if you hadn’t noticed.

Teams don't let players go in January for a reason and if they do, you end up paying a premium.

I'd like a ball playing b2b midfielder but I'm not not going to throw my toys out if it doesn't happen this window.

If we do, it has to be the right player, for the right price. If not, we wait til the summer.

If the start of the season is anything to go by, it's best we just let Robins do his job. Him and his team know a bit more about recruitment than SBT

As for O'Hare, if he hasn't signed by the end of Jan. Robins has to line up his replacement, ready for the summer.

We have got to be ready for the start of next season. I will be absolutely gutted if he leaves but we can't wait around for him to decide. I really hope we're not f*cking about with the contract.

My preference would be for COH to sign a new contract and be 100% in line with our top earner.

I would be surprised if this hasn't been offered.

His agent's preference might be for COH to leave for free in the summer - or alternatively COH may want to consider his options in May (who knows might be another trip to Wembley and the possibility of Premier League). If he does go down that path, there's a big risk of injury so can't see him taking that gamble.

Any fee now received would be low given the time left on the contract and even then if would be up to COH if he would want to leave. So can't see us trying to engineer a transfer as a big fee will be off the table.

He could sign a pre-contract now with his new club starting June 30th (is this allowed?) on very high wages. In that event, for example he could sign a pre-contract with Burnley and we'd possibly pass each other in May (and he would lose out on the chance in the Prem). At a minimum we'd be in the same league. He'd on higher wages at Burnley but leaving a club where he's loved by a fantastic and passionate fan base, a coach and players who love him and a team with momentum - to join a relegated team and make his mark in a new system, players and a fan base that is laughable compared to ours.

The only other scenario is if he follows Vik's path to a top flight European but then again there's the gamble for the lad of moving overseas/learning a new language.

The more I think about this - it's makes sense for COH sign for us on a 4 year deal with us in line with our top earner - over to you DK to deliver.

Do we even need more signings? It has to be a pretty special one to get in our starting 11 right now. The only place that isn’t gaurenteed on the team sheet is who partners sheaf in the middle as that used to be hamer. Every other position is someone’s. Even then I really like Lats in that position and Eccles Kelly and Allen can all do a job there. So apart from that the team picks itself.

signing o hare on a new contract is more important than any new player for me.

You're not wrong but we can't rest on our laurels. We need effective cover for Wright and Tatsu, potentially another Attacking midfielder if O'Hare isn't going to stay and upgrades on Godden, Kelly and Fadz for the long term. Won't all get done this window but we need to be looking forwards

Yes, we've never replaced Hamer, and since we have now changed formation, we don't really any specialist back up on the left and right wing, for if Wright or Tats get injured.

Only sign pre contracts with foreign sides

All the work of identifying players will of been done, but the key to which way we go is getting an answer off Callum. I still think we will see some movement no matter the outcome. But his decision will have a massive effect on how we decide to go and where money is spent. I am still of the opinion, Robins and Doug have a difference of opinion on the players worth and probably are looking at it from 2 different points of view.

I think Callum will want to see his contract out and pick his best option during the summer.

I can still see 1 or 2 other areas being covered and a few like Moore moved on and others getting loaned out. No need to panic or be frustrated the club know exactly what they have and what they need. I also think they are fully aware of maximizing players values and knowing the worth of any investment into a player. We are in good hands and if not good sensible and very shrewd hands with Robins at the center of it all.

Yes. Refer to our meager squad at Wembley.
