Price controls/caps almost always end in failure. A lot of Americans want jobs, not charity from the federal government - see the difference in the approach from the campaigns? It’s the taxpayer who funds this increase in government expenditure and Harris couldn’t rule out tax rises whereas Trump promised tax cuts.
Biden’s administration brought in hundreds of thousands of jobs and unemployment has gone down considerably. I have posted the graphic 3 times already on the tax policy-lower earners would in fact see an increase, the top earners get big cuts.

How many times do we have to explain that trickle down economics doesn’t work? George Bush Snr famously called it ‘voodoo economics’ and had to roll it back when in office.

Fatso has set me straight. And who can forget the far right rally in New York, where jokes were shared about black people eating watermelons, Puerto Rico being an island of garbage, and it was declared that every single Democrat was scum?

Genius level campaign strategy.

Didn’t Trump win the Peurto Rican vote and increase his vote say amongst all ethnic minorities?

The ‘Trump is a racist’ kinda worked in 2016, but his vote share with ethnic minorities has increased to record levels (GOP standards) in consecutive elections. Trump won the Latino vote so it’s clear ordinary people didn’t feel the jokes were racist but the respectable ‘liberal elite’ created a storm in a teacup.

If you dig deeper, Tony Hinchcliffe was making a reference to the landfills being overflown. Puerto Rico returned a Republican in the elections just gone too.

Unbelievable.

Hang on, are you seriously claiming that to be a policy?
I've sent you the link to the news around his health plans
You can read it by clicking on the link, it should just open up for you to read.

If your not happy with it maybe you can e-mail him and you never know perhaps he'll be happy to explain it all to you.

I would love to hear more about the subtle nuance behind the jokes about black people eating watermelons. Perhaps a sophisticated commentary on needing to eat healthy?

We can continue to go back and forth on this… If Trump truly this ugly racist and misogynistic far-right (or even ‘white supremacist’ figure) character, how has he successfully made significant inroads with ethnic minorities and women?

It just doesn’t suit the narrative being put forward by yourself and others. I am genuinely interested in your POV on this.

How? By doing what?

His nessage was very simple.
He asked the American people, "are you better off today, after 4 years of a Democrat government, than you were before?"

And they gave their answer at the ballot box.

That’s because 4 years ago Trump was sending everyone cheques with his name on them from the government. Without that disposable income is way up the last four years.

But that's not what the voters are saying.

When interviewed, they complain about rising inflation and higher prices in the stores.

That’s not the same thing as not being better off. If prices are 10% higher and my take home pay is 11% higher I’m richer even if I don’t feel it.

The problem is inflation IMO. People blame the government for prices but themselves for wages.

Well if that's the case, the Democrats did a piss poor job of championing their achievements.
But all we heard from them was Trumps a cun't, Trumps a cun't.

Well tell us something we didn't already know, Trump might be a c**t, but at least he's a c**t with a plan.

They did. Their left spent most of the time protesting against them. Their economic record was generally good, inflation came down, vital industries were onshored, money pumped into all kinds of flyover states. But kept the wokeness of the left despite them all hating them, and fucked the nomination process. Biden should have gone early enough to allow a proper contest in hindsight, I got that wrong. Dems need to focus on getting a centrist charismatic leader, but everyone wants one of them.

The mad thing is,. people have been moaning at the cost of everything, but many economists are saying that Trumps plans are going to put prices up further.

That could well be just scare mongering. The whole system is shit scared that Trump is going to upset their cosy little applecart.

They've tried to silence him, then cancel him, then imprison him and even tried to kill him. They really where going to stop at nothing to stop him getting into the white house.

One things for sure, it's going to be interesting to see what he does, and how things work out.

This Democrat gets it

I don’t think this was the main reason for the defeat but will need addressing if they want to win back voters

If he puts tariffs on goods coming in, it's going to result in higher prices.

I mean I was making this point with respect to ‘good campaigning’. If you think making racist jokes about certain demographics is good strategy, I would love to know how.

It is, but it's designed to make foreign imports more expensive than home produced goods, to help American manufacturers compete.

If a Toyota costs way more than a Ford, your likely to sell more Ford's. (Supposedly)

The way for Toyota (for example) to avoid the tarifs is to build factories in America and employ American labour.

Trump’s plan might put the prices of some things up, as “economists” are saying. However, the tariff income will aid the economy in terms of money to their treasury / allow equal value tax cuts.

He won the popular vote this time despite his rivals throwing everything they could into stopping him.

Trump waffles a load of tripe sometimes but he’s got Musk in his team (smart guy and only a fool would disagree) and JD Vance has something about him.

IMO the democrats were / are corrupt (HB Laptop, 10% for the big guy, 51 intelligence agents, lawfare, Hillary emails etc.)

I’m still baffled why 11 million or so (when the final numbers come in, or 15% or so) LESS democrat voters turned out for Harris (70m) as did for Biden (81m). I’m sure there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation.

US voters have spoken. They’ve gone for Trump. That’s that.

I think you do. Genuine left wing politics wouldn't allow such huge capital gains in the first place.

You are still talking about economics, which is only one metric to the placing of a party on the political spectrum. Now you have narrowed your opinion to even just one party policy.

I do not even have a dog in this fight, you're just ignoring things you do not want to consider for whatever reason, the Democrats are a centre-left party.

Donald Trump is a…brilliant man with many intelligent, well thought out ideas. He will singularly ensure the financial security of the US for years to come. Oh and his personal hygiene is above reproach.
