Was it a good goal?
Coventry City’s new intake of first year scholars have joined the club full-time.
Here Academy boss Rich Stevens gives the lowdown on the Sky Blues boys who will be making up the club’s Under-18s squad this season.
Liam Doyle
Position: Central midfield
Strengths: Liam is one of four boys we have worked hard to get from Category One clubs
He’s been at Southampton for four or five years but they let him go and we trialled him and signed him within a week. We got in early and were the first club to look at him.
He’s a lovely footballer and we’re really excited about him. He’s a modern-day midfield player who likes to get on the ball and can go box-to-box.
Character: You don’t always know what you’re going to get when take boys from elsewhere in terms of character but he’s tough on himself and wants to do well and wants success.
He’s very driven and doesn’t take anything below standard and is therefore his own harshest critic.
He’s typical of the types we pick up who are driven and work hard to do well with the platform we give them.
You can get players who drop down and think they’re better than they are but we’re lucky in that we don’t get those. These boys are humble, hard working and want to get into the game, prefect for the make-up of our football club.
Our selling point has always been look how close you can get to the first team really early. The first team manager knows their name from age of 16 and if good enough they can go through system very quickly.
Things to work on: Just settle into the group quickly and showcase his talent.
It's the only thing left to be proud ofI think more than anything, losing the Academy would be the biggest death knell for us.

Billy Stedman
Position:Forward/ No.10/ second striker.
Strengths:He’s an interesting one Billy, another lad who has joined us from Category One club Southampton and we’ve done well to get him because three or four big clubs wanted him.
"He’s a very clever footballer, very exciting and going to be a real playmaker who creates and excites. He’s only small, 5ft 6/7 but a clever second striker who will be elusive. He’s very quick in changing direction, maybe not over 20-yard sprint but very quick and agile and can play a range of attacking positions.
"He’s really intricate with his football, can see clever passes and has got a trick – the sort of player who can create and score goals. He’s good on the ball, pleasing on the eye and people will enjoy watching him develop.
Character:A confident lad who is not afraid to show what he can do.
Things to work on: Just settle into the group as quickly as possible after moving clubs. The fact that he knows Liam Doyle will certainly help because they know each other well and have played together through the age groups with Saints.
For those supporters who won't be attending/boycotting the game against West Ham's B team tomorrow night but are still looking for a game to attend, our U23s play Cardiff City at the Alan Higgs Centre tomorrow at 2pm. Entry is free
fuck alan higgs
Anyone know who's playing for our U 23's this afternoon?
If Alan Higgs or Derek Higgs were still alive there is no way Wasps would have got into the Higgs Centre or get the Higgs share of ACL.Bit harsh
"Alan Higgs died in 1979, and because he thought that inherited wealth did more harm than good, he made provision for a charity to be created after his death to help deprived children from Coventry and nearby localities."

He's the one they signed from the Strachen academy isn't it, potential first teamer in the not too distant future?U18's won 5-2 away at Colchester. Jordan Ponticelli with a hat-trick.

Apparently he's already signed a professional deal so we can't get screwed like we did with SambouEvery week this lads scoring get him in and around the first team especially for the checkatrade games.
Hope we don't lose this kid without seeing him in the first team like with Sambou.
