National Football Youth League (U19)
Details of both Cov teams (1st and 3rd in the league!) are on that site
Just looking through and both Cov sides have a decent scorer
Scott Hammond - 21 goals in 10 starts (2 subs)
Cherif Allegbissifou - 17 goals in 12 starts (1 sub)
Sign them up! (I have no idea of the standard of football)
Did I read right the U18's won 9-0?
Ponticelli just 2? BOOOOOOOO! SHIT!
Get him on the bench.
Are they going to sign Camwell up!
Get on with it City. :-o
Indeed. 16 goals in the last 2 games.
Team was: Skuza, Hickman, McMahon, Ford, Camwell, Bayliss, Doyle, Stedman, Finn, Smith, Ponticelli
Jordan Ponticelli (2)
That's 14 wins from 20 games, 56 goals scored (most in the league) and just 26 conceded (joint most).
3-1 win for the U16s too. Another strong group, which has been added to recently with a few players from Category 1 clubs in preparation for next years intake. Picking up to add to your own, a sign of a good and well run academy.
This is the strongest the academy has been in recent time in my opinion. Forgetting the ongoing situation with the Alan Higgs Centre, the talent in the age groups is outstanding.
He will get his pro. 7 goals from left-back this season and plenty of minutes in the U23s.
I think the remaining 9 second years will all get pros (2 of them already have)
And just shows the madness if the academy is slowly wound down. These kids are the future of this football club.
The under 16's three goals - one scored by a player from the under 14 age group and the other two by players from the under 15 age group.
As STP says, we have the talent in all age groups
Darragh Leahy played the full 90 minutes, alongside Liverpool's highly rated Conor Masterson (has been on the bench for them) as Ireland U19s beat Portugal 1-0 with 10 men:
Got to base the future of the club around the academy if we are going to have any kind of long term future.
Spend the cash from selling everyone in the summer on decent coaches and a manager that can handle bringing youth through. Add in some fighters and leaders and Prem rejects. I think most fans would get behind that regardless of results.
Who's playing today?
Not sure on the team but cov lost 4-1
Sorry haven't worked out this quote thing yet. Ronnie has been put up in a hotel by Bristol city for 2 weeks apparently
He scored against them a few weeks back, maybe he impressed that day. Our U23s play Bristol City next week so I guess he'll play in that game
This is how the U18 table looks after 20 games:
With 8 games remaining we are 14 points ahead of our closest rivals Crystal Palace.
The remaining 8 fixtures are:
Millwall (A), February 18th (12:00)
Nottingham Forest (A), March 4th (11:00)
Cardiff City (H), March 11th, (12:00)
Huddersfield Town (H), March 18th, (11:30)
Crystal Palace (A), March 25th, (12:00)
Crewe Alexandra (A), April 1st, (11:00)
Barnsley (H), April 8th, (11:00)
Crystal Palace (H), April 11th, (1:00, Tuesday)
If we do finish in first or second place we will be contesting in the play-offs for the first time since academies were categorised (2011/12)
All nine goals from the weekend:
Impressive pressing and passing, some fantastic finishes too
We signed a youngster into our academy - Morgan Crowther
Quick 16 year old Striker previously with Blackburn and Leicester
Don't think the image uploaded correctly
One of the players I mentioned a few posts back joining from Category 1 clubs
Hughes? Don't know him.
My money's on Ted or Nerys.
I'm team Sylvia; don't mention Ted.
The U18s have won 2-0 away at Millwall. Kyle Finn opened the scoring before Jordan Ponticelli grabbed his 20th of the season. That makes it an outstanding eight consecutive wins and six consecutive clean sheets for Jason Farndon's side
Farndon for manager!
The U23s play Bristol City tomorrow at the Alan Higgs Centre (1pm) in a rescheduled game.
The 'well known' trialists (if they play) should be easily indentified if they are as well known as Russell Slade has made out...
I thought Dev Kelly Evans was at Nuneaton??
Weird. Also no trialists either.
And guess Nasseri has gone too then following his 3 weeks with us.
DKE is meant to be with Nuneaton for another two weeks but maybe this is the same sort of arrangement we had with Andre Wright and WBA... I'm sure he switched between being ineffective for us on a Saturday and back to West Brom to be ineffective for their reserves mid-week
£4 adults, £2 concessions. Game to be played on Monday 15th Feburary at 7pm.
Sambou bags a brace, and a general...
Does anyone know if there is a live stream for tonight's youth cup game?
U18s in the FA Youth Cup tonight down Nuneaton... could see some goals - £3 entry....
Now that the U18s season has finished I thought I'd post this.
Some results have a link to a video on YouTube.
