Obnoxious was a bit strong I admit and he was brilliant in Blackadder.

Champagne Socialists have never quite been my cup of tea.

All about opinions though Otis. Each to their own.

Oh and his invasion into Christopher Hitchens' funeral in which he took the opportunity to tweet abuse to his adversary, Hitchens brother peter, shows him for the contemptible oaf he really is.

And always remember

ATHEISM IS A NON-PROPHET ORGANIZATION.

I went to a funeral over in Italy about 5 yearso ago; after they had gone around collecting money off everyone, they drowned out the prayers while tipping the notes and coins out and counting them.

Wankers.

No. That is strange and "uncharacteristic". He obviously hasn't met some of the girls I have met in my time.

People aren't always what they seem.

I once had to deal with one (fairly low level celebrity) who seemed a truly gentile individual on screen. Off it they were the most obnoxious, boorish, demanding individual you'd ever meet.

Another (much bigger) celebrity with a far worse public image was as nice as pie when you met them.

See...anyone that has suffered from a mental illness personally, or who knows someone close that has, or that works with sufferers would be disgusted by your apparent dismissive tone in the same way you were with Mr Fry's comments about women.

...onwards & upwards PUSB

I just find his views towards women disgusting - you'll find people who cross Mr Fry find his gentile image soon vanish. I don't think that's due to his "condition" but more to do with his ego.

So true.

I've also been in the company of two current TV celebrities in the last 18 months or so. One appears every weekday on TV, the other is a 'lovable' comic actor who's starred in several TV series. Both would no doubt be classed as 'National Treasures' and both were extremely unpleasant individuals, consumed with their fame.

Perhaps making reference to mental illness wasn't the best idea then?

Who were they?

I have met one or two who were complete arses (John Leslie in particular), but my daughter has met loads and said they have all been really nice to her. That's what happens with kids though unless you are Rowan Atkinson.

Stars like to charm the kids and put on smiley faces.

I met Nick Knowles from DIY SOS a couple of years ago and have to say he was delightful. Admittedly we were both drunk as it was at an England game at Twickenham. I went up to him just to say what a great show DIY SOS is and couldn't get away from him (the bloke can't take a hint). We talked about everything and anything for about an hour and he was the one making the conversation. Yet everyone I've ever mentioned this to always insists he's supposed to be a twat in real life. Not my experience.

That's because you were on your knees drooling that you'd met a celebrity Tony
