You've also got Trump spouting nonsense about encouraging Russia to attack NATO members that he deems not to pay enough. It's hardly normal or showing Western strength and unity.

In the way he’s expanded NATO.

In the way he’s opened the door for more Eastern European former Soviet countries to join the EU.

Even his master plan was so flimsy it’s falling apart. Brexit scepticism is bigger than Euro scepticism ever was. The chances of the UK rejoining the EU grows daily as more and more people wake up to the realities of Brexit.

His man Trump is basically bankrupt and can’t get political donations as the reality of Trump is being exposed as his past and what he is and always has been catches up with him.

At best he was 1-0 up at half time, he’s now 1-3 down with 10 seconds left to play.

You’d probably make it less likely for you to be labelled a Putin apologists simply by not ignoring the evidence of your own eyes.

And what impact do you see the current expansion of NATO having on Russia? How is it going to impact them?

As I said, both the EU and the UK are now weaker apart. Former Soviet countries have been in talks with the EU for years; it's nothing new, and in reality, it's highly unlikely they're going to be fast-tracked.

The UK is also decades away from ever rejoining the EU, personally, I think even that is optimistic. There's a very strong chance of Trump being elected again.

I don't see how pointing out any of that can make someone a Putin apologist; it's just ridiculous.

Putins show of strength was supposed to be stopping the expansion of NATO. He’s built his tough man persona at home on it, it’s backfired spectacularly, he’s convinced two countries who showed no intention of joining all through the Cold War to join. He now has NATO on Russia’s doorstep.

You watch the political talk change by the end of the next parliament as brexit continues to fail, hardliners literally die out and new voters want to undo the shit their parents and grandparents took on them. It’s already a vote winner, Labour is just too scared to start the conversation ahead of the upcoming election because it wants the red wall back.

I wouldn’t write Trump off but there’s every possibility that he might not even be the next Republican candidate for presidency. He’s in a lot of shit in court demonstrated by his desperation to get cases delayed until after the election. Nikki Hayley understands this which is why she won’t concede the nomination, she’s sitting tight waiting for Trumps past to catch with him and get the nomination by default. And even if he can survive until the election he’s going to be fighting it on a depleted war chest as he’s struggling to get financial backers, which is key in US elections. According to Litchman (who correctly predicted Trump beating Clinton in the face of what the opinion polls were all saying) is already saying Biden has 2 of the 13 Keys to the White House based on the strength of the economy and growth which is early for him to be making that prediction.

It’s the people perpetuating this war that are blindly ignoring the death and destruction and not those looking at likely remedies.

The UK is a long way away from joining the EU, the chances of it are minimal; it's more likely to rejoin the Single Market though but it's not something that'll happen in the short term, possibly within 15 years, I'd say. I'd imagine if there was a rerun of the referendum, it'd be to rejoin but it's going to be close like the actual referendum was; that's a long way away from the county actually rejoining and accepting the conditions of re-entry that there would inevitably be.

Bloody hell. Do you actually believe people in Russia are free to criticise Putin. How on earth can you measure that until he and his henchmen can’t hold back the tide anymore. He told his people that they had to go to war in Ukraine to stop the advance of NATO and the EU. As a direct consequence of going to war in Ukraine 2 neighbouring countries instantly applied to join NATO, you can’t seriously be suggesting that has won his critics over in Russia?

That's the point; there is no tide to hold back, is there? I highly doubt the Russians will rise up because NATO has expanded. His claims about it being due to NATO were just a means to justify the invasion - the real goal of it had nothing to do with NATO. Unless you now take what he says at face value?

They've spent peanuts in terms of their defence budget. And most of it is old stuff they would have to pay to destroy anyway. It allows them to upgrade and modernise their own equipment.

It's an incredible return on investment to weaken an adversary for a relative pittance. An adversary whose allies just killed 3 US soldiers.

It's a no brainier really. The Republicans are only against it because Trump tells them to oppose it. That's literally it.

And I don't think you know what a civil war is. Or you share Putin's view that Ukraine is part of Russia.

The globalised economy is agnostic of war. Sanctions against a resource rich entity like Russia are difficult and defeating them in war is too.
