Agreed. The other statistic that should be rolled out more often is that having a gun or guns in the house (usually for protection against 'home-invasion') significantly increases the risk of the owner or a family member dying prematurely (via suicide or homicide). in essence, keeping a gun for safety purposes makes you a lot less safe.

Do these figures include suicides? Two-thirds of US gun deaths are suicides.
Also the gun death rates vary widely by State.
Hawaii and Massachusetts have the lowest rate.
Alaska and Lousiana the highest. Not places normally associated with undue violence.

You'd expect somewhere with a large city like Boston to be further up the list too.

I was going to reply with the same sentiment but you did a much better job. :emoji_thumbsup:
I've been in Florida 13 years and have NEVER even seen an outline of a gun being carried (or concealed) let alone someone brandishing one around like a toy.
Most yanks are good sorts but i do agree the guns laws here are bloody stupid.

I’d imagine the same. Purely anecdotally I know three or four people that committed suicide and only one that was murdered.

I wouldn't know but easily availability of guns certainly makes it easier, and probably more likely you'll do it before changing your mind..
