He also exudes calm and seems super focused. I must admit, I was a bit surprised how wayward his first touch was at times but I think that was where lack of confidence was showing. And 100%, he either scores or pulls defences apart. I’ve always loved a striker who can rough up centre halves. They don’t like it up ‘em!What I really like about Simms is he really occupies defenders and pulls them around all over the place. We haven't had that type of forward for a long time.
Even when he was off the pace early on, we looked more likely to get goals when he came on than when he was off the pitch. He has that ability to open things up for others.
His confidence grew as the season went on and he really began to put himself about . He's a proper handful for any defence and his overall game improved hugely over last season. He's developed a great understanding with Haji and this combined with Saka coming back will push him on even further . As I've said elsewhere our attack looks extremely strong. He also exudes calm and seems super focused. The Kiwi could be the sameQuality player. Will do well next season.
This.I’m a sucker for players who can pick a pass and are technically sound. That’s exactly what Torp is.
He will have a big, big season this year.
Sheaf Torp Stamenic
Thats a ball playing midfield (albeit harsh on Eccles).

From what I see Eccles is quickly catching up with Sheaf. Sheaf does one role. But Eccles was introduced as a wing back, then his more natural defensive midfield role. Then towards the end of last season in a more advanced wide role?
Still some rough edges to smooth out but I think long term Eccles has more potential than Sheaf? Another big season for Eccles and he needs to step up again.
I remember early on in his first season Mark Robins was asked what he thought Eccles potential was? His reply was something like, "Anything he wants to be. It's down to what he believes he can be."
Mark Robins doesn't really big youngsters up. But I felt he had full confidence in Eccles attributes and the only ingredients missing were confidence and belief.
Sheaf’s stat wheel shows that in the Championship, he’s the best defensive playmaker in the league - in the 95%+ in a lot of facets in the stat wheel. I’ve not seen Eccles stat wheel but it’s probably not as good as Sheaf’s.Eccles is definitely improving and his developmental last season was the most significant, there was a clear step up in his play.
He probably has more to his all round game than Sheaf (for example he’s happy to make forward runs) but he isn’t as good as Sheaf on the ball or technically in my view.
I really hope he continues to develop and does so with us.

The next level for Sheaf and Eccles to improve in the final third - neither get many assists from open play nor many goals. A quick comparison of all our CMs and AMs this season v Hamer in 22/23 tells a story. Last season you had Hamer and Vik dragging us through games.
I’ll let you do the legwork for that…Or you could wonder what Eccles stat wheel was like last season compared to Sheaf's two seasons ago?

Yep.Anyone else expecting big things this season?
Hes given us glimpses of real quality, and with a couple of months rest and a full pre season behind him I think we will have a real player
Fair to judge him around November time would you say?
Couldn't agree more. He showed quality against Man U and Palmer's one in five good performances are beginning to get a bit tediousI think Torp would do better than Kasey Palmer in the 10 if I'm honest
He definitely isn’t a 10I think Torp would do better than Kasey Palmer in the 10 if I'm honest

So basically Sheaf slightly ahead of Eccles this season, and Eccles slightly ahead of the Sheaf of two years ago.
That's how I'm reading it yes shows Eccles is really coming on.So basically Sheaf slightly ahead of Eccles this season, and Eccles slightly ahead of the Sheaf of two years ago.
I never said he was, I'm saying I think Torp would do better as a 10 than KP doesHe definitely isn’t a 10
